Was told Brisbane where in town yesterday and spoke to Dom Sheed.

Where'd you hear that?

No doubt they're probably going over their options once more before the draft. I'm going to watch the entire thing, I'll be cringing when they get to 7.

Various articles have the Pies linked with Lennon, Scharenberg, Bontempellli, Salem and McCarthy..so far. Tough to see who they'll go for.

Way I see it is one of Billings/Aish/Scharenberg slides to 6 in which case you'd think they'd pick one of those. At 10 could be any of Bontempelli/Salem/Lennon/McCarthy.

Whichever way it falls though, there looks to be real quality left over for 11.

Well Sheed would be my #1 pick for us but I'm sure there will be some other nice guys we could pick up if not.

How knows Lennon might fall and some like Freeman and Arches are decent too

As long as we don't draft freeman i don't really care. Think the guy will fail. Third best mid in his side yet some people wanted us to take him at 6...

Reading the write up on the AFL site he sounds less like a Shuey type and more like a Rhys Palmer type.

From what I heard Freeman is quite a decent player

Fast, an eye for goal, and loves to run and carry... however it's the knock on his game that he can lack composure with his kicking and has a 60% efficiency which is concerning for mine.

Doesn't get enough of his own ball, lacks composure, is selfish and his eye for goal is him bombing it rather than spotting up team mates. In my mind he has a long way to go before he is even an average afl level player. Not in my top 20.

Freeman can win his own ball. So he's not like Aish in that regard, in spite of what his highlights show. His contested possession rate was 36% in the champs where he played more outside than he usually does at TAC level. It's more that he doesn't run to the right spots often enough to get involved in plays that he should. Lacks a whole lot of football IQ.

True probs not :)

But top 20 would easily be.I'm sure once he hits the top level he'll realize he have to change if his to make it through.

It's a pretty simple formula for me regarding pick 11.

Lennon, Sheed and Acres are the three we should be considering at our first pick if the forecasts hold sway.

High-Risk, High Reward: Acres - Greater upside, can plug and play as a flanker/3rd tall while building into a midfield game that has already been hinted at. Fast, makes good decisions and is a strong bodied player. Question marks are whether his inside game will develop to handle bodies that are the same size as his, as well as his shoulders. At worst will burn out with injuries, but could be a top 5 player from the draft in the future.

Low-Risk Option: Sheed - Best performed player at the U/18's, makes generally good decisions, excellent spatial awareness, very good across most areas without being exceptional. Has good utility without being the obvious aerial threat that Acres and Lennon can be. Question marks over his ceiling, and slight over-reliance on his left foot. At worst will be a solid player, but at best could be a 200+ gamer. Leaderships skills are a plus, and his lean but solid frame (187cm, 84kgs) means he will bulk up easily in the AFL system

Moderate Risk, Moderate Reward: Lennon - Excellent skills and courage, as well as a good, tall, if rakish, build. Moved inside towards the end of the season and showed potential in the guts, though again it remains to be seen if this converts to AFL level. More noted for his defensive rebound and forward-50 delivery than anything in between the flanks. Question marks over his inside game at the highest level as well as whether his frame will bulk up enough to meet the requirements of his game against grown men. At worst will be a handy, smart third tall across the Half back and half forward lines but could be a real inside-outside player like Acres, with less of an injury risk attached.

At least one of these three will be gone by the time we get to our pick, again, if the recent draft forecasting holds sway.

If Acres is gone, I'd be going Sheed. No risk, no brainer pick as I feel Sheed's game offers more of what we need at the moment.

If Lennon is gone, it's really Sheed's lower ceiling and his skill set matching our immediate needs versus Acre's shoulders and more athletic build/higher ceiling. I'd still be leaning Sheed ever so slightly because of risk but would be just as happy to hear Acres' name on draft day.

If Sheed is gone, Lennon wins. You're comparing a similar style of player, and while Lennon isn't quite as raw with potential as Acres, I'm reluctant to go the lesser known quantity when Lennon offers similar flexibility, a reasonably high ceiling of improvement, with less of a breakdown risk. His go-home factor seems to be more prevalent than the other Victorian boys though, so perhaps Acres wins out on this regard?

If two of them are gone, that third person selects themselves.

We need a guy this fast and evasive

WOW!!!!!! He is EXACTLY what we need!! We should have been over there and in his ear offering him HEAPS of cash to join us....sadly we didn't have the BALLS to do this and missed our chance to gain an enormous advantage on our rapidly improving rivals. Sadly, I'm afraid a club like Essendon or Carlton will get him because they think outside the square more and have more fresh and modern-world ideas. We have stale yes men, we're too much of a boys club I'm sad to say sadly. Sadly, I'm sad to say this, but I'm afraid we have been left for dead by these innovative, forward thinking geniuses that run the 17 other elite futuristic clubs. Unfortunately we still train in Australia!!!!! Every other club is getting an advantage on us by training overseas! The science tells you that you get fitter overseas, but we're too traditional and would rather stay at home running laps! FFS if this club had any imagination at all they'd be getting on the phone to NASA to organise a live televised training session from the Moon. I'm afraid this will never happen whilst Nisbett is at the club. We need to clean out the dead and stale wood that is slowing us down and it starts with sacking everyone at the club and hiring fresh eyes from Victorian clubs!
