Anyone have a list of the past larke medalists to see how they have gone at AFL level? See whether that's an indicator of success.

Recall hearing Watts and Morton won it but hopefully they have been the only less successful ones.

How is the paradox between Swallow and Hooper, in terms of producing AFL standard talent, the medal is very hit and miss

Is Sheed really worth pick 6 ?
Do WCE know something other recruiters and talent spotters don`t ?
The impression I`m getting wce will pick sheed but other talent spotters in the know like Twomey or Quayle have Sheed as a pk12 -pick 16

A mixed bunch! Armstrong, Schammer, Kelpher, Hooper vs. Murphy, Bennell, Coniglio, Whitfield...seems like the hit rate is better in recent years

TBH Coniglio & Whitfield too early to tell at this stage ....

The thing is that picking a player at 18 is not just about who is best now but who has the attributes to be best in 5 years .... Physical development can be at all sorts of different stages at 17/18 v 22/23....

Lots of guys are physically ahead of the curve which both improves performance at a young age but potentially limits the ceiling.... these were "concerns" re Darling given his sub-optimal height for a key position. He was good but had he peaked. Rich attracted similar concerns ...

Pendlebury, Thomas, Hill, Dangerfield were varying degrees of "bolters" based on projections of their ability based on how they might develop ....

Sheed is very good now but is his ceiling a good/decent AFL player v others who might be stars? These were issues with guys like Andrew Swallow and, from memory, Simon Black .... they slipped lower than junior performances might have suggested.

the fact he's a perth boy who's therefore more likely to stay in WA no doubt bumps him up a notch.

but yeah, he looks very good.

Really?

Has a chance to be a rotation mid in a side that finished 13th..... Not sure he's close to a steal as yet ...

Yeah this realism is good with Hutch; he's only displayed form as a solid, workmanlike player at AFL level. It's certainly promising for a pick 60 but he's also had 2 or 3 years longer in the system than the players he was drafted against.

If he can add his recent goal kicking acumen on the outside that he displayed during the WAFL finals to his game at AFL level that'd be great; he might be able to cement a role on a flank with rotations into the middle a la Masten in 2012, offering us another rotation and someone who can play dual positions.

People can't criticize Priddis and then praise Hutchings at the same time. Will be a bit part midfielder at most for this club if we are to go anywhere.

I agree that he will never be much chop in the middle.
Personally I'd like to see him be developed as a defensive HFF option. Just as good a tackler as McGinnity but positions himself much better, has better skills and is more effective rotating into the middle.
Assuming we look at drafting/recruiting midfielders and don't toss Priddis out, we really don't have much use for him as a full-time midfielder.

True. But we gotta talk about something :p
If what BOND says is true re: Yarran, what do you think it will take to get him? If our first rounder, is it something we should do?

Do you read into the fact Gaff and Shuey were mentioned as not being on the table whatsoever but Scott Selwood was not?

What is your favourite type of elephant? I like african ones, because africans are cool, man. :p

Hutch has better disposal.
He also allegedly uses Bigfooty.
Instantly 2 pluses.
