Because Sheppard over Jetta?

Or we err towards WA kids?

Many thought it was a risk we took Naitanui over Rich. Many thought it was a risk to take Judd after his shoulder problems (although that was a long time ago).
They'd have been pretty silly IMO - he was always going to be at the very least an effective ruckman, and his marketing value was exponentially higher than any other player available.

I think St Kilda and Hawthorn considered it a risk to take Judd, but I'm sure not many actually expected us to pass on him. Right? Surely. He was always going top 5, and Nic Nat was always going top 3.

Well some weren't happy at the time ;)

Naitanui is performing exactly how I thought he would: a low-possession, quality tap ruckman who can do the dynamic or incredible thing from time to time. It was just a question if that is worth more than Rich, which it was.

The other knock at the time was Rich had a low ceiling of improvement left, basically what you got on draft day was how he was going to perform for his career and so far i'd say that's held true as well. Rich has had his moments, but apart from his rookie year he's never really dominated the comp.

Cant remember any worries on Newman like that predraft ?
He never had juve record like a sonson or yarran he was a clean skin.

I thought there was concerns over him? Or might have just been rumours

The arm injury had people worried though

Really keen on using our second round pick on Miller, hopefully he lasts.

Is there any word on who West Coast is looking at for their second?

OK my guess at what would be a good draft without hoping for ridiculous sliders:

11. L Duggan (HB / mid)
32 T Miller (mid/fwd)
51 N Drummond (mid/fwd)
69 Caleb Daniel (small fwd)
87 Sinclair (ruck / fwd)
105 Waterman (mid)

RD N Abbott (utility), A Creeper(kp back).

Oh I agree about NicNat but many people also said his kicking and game smarts were not strong so still a risk.

I am just querying whether WC really are that 'conservative' as everyone keeps saying. I'd like to see some examples of players WC should have selected who were 'risky' but didn't.

Josh McGinness looks like a nice prospect maybe at 51 and a McGovern / bevan at pick 69

I have played with Mcguinnes he's a gun, I reackon someone will get him for a absolute bargain, In saying that he has all ready had a heap of interest from clubs, and wouldn't be suprised if he went in the top 40 either !

He has a lot of upside with his size and kicking ability ! Do you think he could transition into the midfield ?
