Delisted Free Agents - who should we target?

Or Doedee who was really starting to show an attacking side to his game before his unfortunate injury.
So you can't attack in the midfield like in defence?

Interesting.

I see Doedee as an Enright type capable in the midfield.

Wouldn't have any idea, but their respective records are very similar.
Well, you do have an idea

They consider one worthy of a three year contract and the other worthy of delisting.

They're making good calls of late hence their fortunes vs our fortunes.

Whilst that is true, good clubs still make mistakes. I'm not by any means saying we pick Robertson up, but I don't think there's a great deal difference over balance.

I'd think Brisbane probably believe Nick is at his ceiling, whereas maybe given injury history there's a bit left in Cam as far as development goes.

They are not remotely alike in the roles they play, one is a defender/run with player the other a contested inside mid.

First Luke Hodge and now Grant Birchall along with the emergence of youngsters Alex Witherden and Noah Answerth along with their depth in medium defenders probably lead to his demise and Jarrod Berry did the run with job in games as well.

Noah Anderson ??

The worse you go the more enticing the delisted free agent pile looks.

But it's fools' gold.

We need to ask ourselves Would Richmond or one of the top clubs target this player? If yes then go hard. If no then he won't help us.

I wish we applied that logic to Sydney Stack

Sam Murray - probably not, seems like a dickhead and we're covered for rebounding defenders
Harley Bennell - absolutely 100% yes
Ryan Nyhuis - not sure we need another medium defender
Jordan Cunico - no
Aidyn Johnson - very much no
James Rose - probably only mentioned because he's from SA, no

If we want a depth KPD, I'd be looking at Jack Leslie or Kaiden Brand. Neither are good but if we want a mature body with AFL experience, wouldn't be terrible for a rookie spot. You'd think we'd go for a draftee though.

All the delisted rucks are awful. Pass.

I'd pass on Jack Newnes, not because he's bad, but because we have similar types on our list already.

The one I'd be interested in is Nick Robertson if he's delisted, he'd be an upgrade on Riley Knight or Jake Kelly, more versatile, could play defensive midfield, tagging or medium defense roles easily. We lack this sort of hard nut midfielder that can do a defensive rotation. Might not get games but he'd cost zero.
Aidyn has some AFL level traits. Namely elite pace and physicality.

Classy he is not. His decision making and disposal need a LOT of work.

I have no problem with DFA's. There could a wide range of reasons why they didn't succeed at their 1st club.

Sure 1 of them could well be, "because they are just not that good". But there are plenty of success stories from players getting second homes after being delisted.

He literally got cut from the same team Cam got 4 years at.
Did you not read my previous post, Robertson is a medium defender/run with player, CEY is a contested inside mid so essentially you're comparing apples with oranges.

Brisbane were overstocked with medium defenders hence Robertson was delisted.
First Luke Hodge came in, now he's been replaced with Grant Birchall and the emergence of two young gun defenders in Alex Witherden and Noah Answerth has forced Robertson out. Brisbane also traded in Bulldog's defender Marcus Adams last year a similar size player who seems to be preferred. They also have Ryan Lester and Cedric Cox who are struggling for opportunities in defence as well. If you watch Brisbane's games Jarrod Berry has been doing the run with job quite often when it's required.

I don’t agree, we might pick up a player we know won’t play much but is back up. If we pick a ruckman, we can focus on other areas and then pick another one up later. Or if there is no good ones in the draft, we would be short

There are 2 Rucks at least outside of likely 1st round pick Luke Jackson in this draft that are very draftable IMO, Gippsland Power/Vic Country's Charlie Comben and Oakleigh Charger/Vic Metro's Nick Bryan.....of the two Charlie Comben is probably my preference with more upside to come plus he's very capable up forward. Both of course will take a year or two development but offer plenty of potential going forward, both should be available mid draft I'd think unless a team is really targeting a ruckman. My gut feel is Freo will go early with Jackson but if they miss out on him I reckon they will take one of Comben or Bryan.

Not until after, anyway I didn’t quote you though I quoted someone who said he’s essentially CEY.

Surely that was a reference to their physical size only because they're really not similar players?
I didn’t take it that way, not really much point comparing their size if that’s there only similar attribute.
