My parents are Carlton supporters, my brother is Carlton, all my cousins are Carlton, my mums family is all Carlton, most of my family friends are Carlton

I'm the only one that turned out right :p:p

Not at all, he was converted from Carlton into Brisbane when he moved to Qld in the early 90's, I was converted from Melbourne into Footscray in 1989 as a 5 year old. My Pop (read Grandfather) is Carlton, so is my Grandmother, my Aunt I believe is a Carlton fan although her husband and oldest daughter is a North fan and her oldest son is a Collingwood lad. Mother had little interest but had a soft spot for St.Kilda when Nicky Winmar was in full flight, her brothers (my uncles) were divided when one supported Collingwood and the other was an Essendon fan (but naturally have more interest in league).

I also didn't follow the old man in the Rugby League FWIW. He was once a North Sydney Bears fan but switched to Melbourne Storm when they entered. I was a half interested Broncos fan, then switched to the Western Reds, then to Balmain and finally to the Wests Tigers. My sister I believe is still a Cronulla fan (has no real interest in AFL), the half-brother happens to support the Gold Coast Titans.

Dad is a demon...im a demon. My dad always tells this story of how he came home from work and saw me running around in a Collingwood jumper that my Auntie bought for me (I was about 3)...apparently he went nuts..then the brainwashing began.

My old man wasnt really around to corrupt me to follow Collingwood. So found my own way to Freo via Carlton. I will say one thing though my 2 boys were Dockers from Day 1 as members. Both have been told if they ever follow any other team they will be disowned and they can find a new dad ( I am not joking)

He let me choose. I would have been a Melbourne supporter if I was born in Melbourne, but I grew up in Sydney so I chose them. Good choice so far but I'll always have a soft spot for the Demons. Pretty much every extended family member is a Melbourne supporter as well.

HA I knew you had a soft spot for the mighty dees :p

Dad was and is a Dees fanatic

My old man went for Sturt. When the Crows joined the league I was 6 years old, and just starting to get into footy. The whole family became Crows supporters, even my Port-supporting grandma. No one has defected yet, but my girlfriend supports whoever is playing against the Crows. I'm still working on changing this.

Both my parents migrated from Europe and only started getting into the sport it when my brother and I started watching it on the telly.
My dad, brother and sister (as well as me) are mad Bombers fans now, though my sister was a fan of Fitzroy before the merger. Her son though is already a bomber fan at 3 years old! (and his dad is a Collingwood fan)

My father dragged me along to games in 1963-64, when I was about 7yo, standing room only, and we stood right next to where the players ran out onto the ground. Can still smell the liniment. Kardinia Park has changed a lot, but alleginces never will. Sadly, he never got to see that elusive flag. Our whole immediate family follows Geelong, and it is a condition of marriage.

On Dad's side of the family we go back to my great grandfather as Subi supporters, Mums side, we go bak to my grandparents as Subi supporters so there was never any choice. On Saturday's, we'd be sitting on a blanket on the grass next to the old members stand then the following week off to the away game. I grew up in the Freo area so while I will admit to supporting the eagles as the only WA team when they started, as soon as Freo joined the comp, I joined Freo. Best choice I ever made. I can't believe what a'holes Eagles supporters are. Glad I'm not one of them ;) :D

Essendon were crap when I was a wee lad thus I chose the Hawks.
My boy has followed me and I must say I couldnt stand it if he didnt.

I live in the city and have the luxury of taking him along to games to assist with indoctrination.

I lived miles from Melb thus never went to games as a little fella. Had we lived nearby and went to Windy hill every other week things might have been different.

Thank christ we didnt :)

Didn't have an old man to be brainwashed by.

I picked my own WAFL team when I was 10 (Claremont).

As regards V/AFL, most family went for Hawthorn (re some family connection), some North Melbourne, I didn't care much until Freo came along.

Now, I have one son who's followed me with Freo, and one who barracks for the Swans.

The old man's a Melbourne fan but his second team is Freo. I started supporting Freo as a young fella, before I even knew Dad supported Melbourne or had a soft spot for Freo so he didn't have a major input into my choice.

Dad started out as a Saints supporter, switched to the Eagles when they came in and then switched to the Dockers when they came in.

Eagles were the first team I supported and I made the choice to stay with the Eagles despite growing up in the Freo area, and have never regretted the decision to join the rest of the purple scum ;)

My old man's a Kiwi so he is more into rugby than AFL.

I was free to support who I wanted as a kid. Barracked for my local club Subi in the WAFL and chose St Kilda in the AFL. He would probably hate whatever AFL team I supported so it doesn't really matter which one I chose.

My dad went for Port Adelaide because his cousin said he would beat him up if he went for anyone else (he was about 5).

He never pressured me into going for Port Adelaide, hes a fringe supporter at best. I chose Port Adelaide because I liked the colours (teal), so basically started following AFL when I was 7.

My family never really had a influence, They just let me pick but mums friend convinced us to go north so we did :)

When I was little I loved north's blue and white stripes anyway. The first game I went to was North v essendon final in 2000, got whipped up by over 100 I think plus matty loyd kicking his 100.

Then North v Melbourne where we got whipped again. Made me so sad that game.

I was only 8 and I Was pure north from the moment i saw them play regardless the scores lol.

My dad came over from Ireland and set about to find the team with the most Irish names, that was Collingwood. My mum who he met here was Melbourne but he sorted that out pretty quickly. All 7 kids are Collingwood and there wasn't a choice. When I was 6 I visited the old people across the street and came back a St Kilda supporter, he then told me I would have to move in with them. I made the right choice and thank god for that.
