you must be speaking of the reserves, and it was clearly ur bloke who started it. as for the 1's i didn't see anything wrong by either side, but i guess that kind of stuff happens in the 2's when you are losing by 12 goals

as for the Elsternwick match, Clark was king hit and the bloke came up and tried to apologize to him shortly afterwards, which is a putrid act in itself but worse that Clarky was not involved in any of the fracas.

Mate you can sensationalise it as much as you like, do you even know the definition of a king hit....there was nothing in it, a bit a push and shove.

Sh!t effort by a clearly a sh!t club, zero culture, if you're going to give it you can't cry back to mummy when it comes back

Saw both games, and it was a weak snipe from behind from the Sth Mornington player. To Sth credit, most of the previous years dogs seemed to have been moved on though.
The retalition from said BHN player was interesting to say the least!

Any player who king hits another is weak and they are scared oppotunists, 3 weeks is clearly not enough. The game is better off without these thugs.
Knowing how tough the tribunal can be I find it hard to beleive he only got three weeks for a king hit maybe there is more to it. After playing sth mornington on the weekend I'd have to agree with crazycraig they like to dish it out but don't like it when it comes back the other way.

well not sure if you saw it mate as it was from behind with clarky not knowing it was coming, pretty sure thats a king hit, well it was last time i looked.
not making it any bigger than what it was, there was other incidents as well which he got off for.

clearly elsternwick got done in both games by an apparently "sh!t" D4 side, says a bit about your club doesn't it??
and would be happy to never have the misfortune of playing footy and that pothole ridden paddock you blokes call your home gorund!

Never said you were a sh!t side, just a sh!t club with no culture

I think dobbing blokes into the tribunal for a bit of push and shove says more about a club than losing a couple praccy matches.

Did you make a official complaint about the ground too? Was there anything else that wasn't to your liking princess? It would appear that you would be better suited to a non-contact sport played on manufactured surfaces - netball might be better

a bit of push and shove? throughout the whole game there was no trouble, but when the thug of a bloke (who had not got a kick and had 4 kicked on him) gets tackled, he starts throwing cheap punches and continued the throw blows when guys had their back to him. Some of the rubbish that you blokes come up with on here is humerous. Correct me if im wrong but is that what we want to see in footy? A bloke who clearly had a dirty day, start throwing fists in anger? You have a go at the club because they complained about a king hit? You are a dead set tool if you think it was just push and shove.

As said earlier, you can sensationalise all you like to try and defend your club but the sentiment is pretty clear on here what you guys are all about. I wish you all the luck with your season.

Who would have the toughest gig in D4 footy at the moment? A) Chady's 1's coach? B) Chady's 2's coach? C) Chady's player's rocking up each week knowing even the 2nd worst team in the D4 will beat them by 100 plus points! or D) Chady's loyal supporters.

didnt bulleen do something simlar a few years back when cookson had his jaw broken by an SM dog?

elsternwick has the shittest oval ive ever seen.

dogs a bit far isnt it?

you don't have much else to say, only pipe up when someone brings up south mornington.... or should i say "south scumington".... time to move on big fella... it's getting a little old hat!! what club do you associate with as a matter of interest??

That's not a bad thing i would of thought anyway! It's only Cookson!

The fascination on here about Ben Cookson is unbelievable really.

Ben is a good footballer who has won 4 B&F's at our club in his time there; a fair effort in anyone's language - even if the club has been relatively ordinary for much of the time.

He's an accumulator rather than a predator (I guess the comparison between Jack Watts & Michael Hurley in the media this week might not be too far off the ball). He gets the ball all over the ground & has kicked over 50 goals in a year before, so he hurts teams where it counts.

As for the incident mentioned here, and I preface this by saying that I didn't see it, the reference around our club at the time was that it was a late hit with a shoulder well after the disposal. From a committee perspective I believe that it is the responsibility of clubs to look after their players in such circumstances. In a legal sense it's a duty of care.

If you think that is a slight on a club, then I think you're off the mark. Speak to someone from your committe & get their opinion on it. I'm pretty sure they'd see it the same way.

Anyway - it livens up the week off. :thumbsu:

I sent off an email to Chadstone expressing an interest in playing and asking about training times and so forth, and haven't heard back.

Might pop down tomorrow anyway. I assume most clubs train Tues-Thurs during the season?

That's weird i thought they would of offered you the captain's role by now.

Observations thus far after round 2.......

Been very impressed with Eley Park. They have picked up a few and have big Dave Viola playing in the two's surely they are a serious contender.

Clearly the most disappointing team thus far is Manningham. Preliminary final last yr & yet to win a game in both seniors & reserves. Lack pace in the midfield and this will be exposed when the play the young SFX & Swinbourne. All players currenty on notice and will need to swing the axe after the break !!!

Will the commitee be regretting making changes to the coaches from 2010?? Time will tell. Watch this space....... :D

That's the spirit!

It was a surprising weekend of results...

Was South Mornington undermanned?

Were NB and Box Hill both underrated?

Were half of Swinburnes players studying or on school holidays?

All questions to be answered in week 3. Sorry to miss the big clash between RC and Swinburne. Sipping Beer Lao in Vientienne... but can still find time for you blokes :)

Cheers!

Very surprising week of results indeed, SM losing to NB, BH knocking off PC.
Good to see RC get on the board after the usual RC preseason hype. I heard that EP came back from 40pts late in the 3rd?
Anyone care to give me some odds on Dimma knotching up the D4 B&F?

Hows The Guru down point cook way Daniel Fraser going.
Seems to speak glowingly of his recruiting every year but results dont seem to come. Cant be a hard gig 70 at training but cant seem to get much out of them.

Point Cook are much better than last year. Most other teams have improved as well though so they will probably finish in a similar position to last year.

D4 has continued to improve over the last few years as has been demonstrated by the success of the sides going up the ranks from D4. Point Cook will be a strong team at home and in the big group that will have a blanket thrown over them in the fight for finals this year. Honestly the teams that can win the close games and a couple more away games will fill the final two spots on the ladder.

Eley Park is the clear club house leader at this stage but after that, Swinburne, South Mornington, North Brunswick, Box Hill North, Point Cook, Richmond Centrals, Manningham and Saint Francis Xavier are all in contention for the finals should make for a very interesting season. Confidence, form, concentration lapses and preparedness will make all the difference this year.

Chadstone hopefully on the improve will be the cellar dwellers again, Eley Park seem to have strengthened their team again, have a good spine, skillful midfielders and some good outside runners. The key to this season is win your games at home. Make sure that you are ready to make the most of teams mistakes and if players don't have their full squad available, make sure you take full advantage of the situation.

Looking forward to observing the season as it progresses.

.

Can I ask why Eley Park are considered the "clear club house leader".

come on down.training starts 6.15 see u there.

I say Eley Park the club house leader, partially because I have more knowledge on Eley Park than on Swinburne and St. Francis Xavier and all assumptions at this point are based on very early form lines but judging by the clearances to Eley Park they have recruited well and had a solid team last year.

I think a pre season, some more quality players and a team that always has a crack are the leaders at this stage. I play for Box Hill North and haven't played them yet this year, so I hope they are not as good as I am talking them up to be, but they are showing a bit. I don't think any other teams results have stood out yet.

Ok fair call. The next few rounds will be sure to reveal a bit.

D4 has definately lifted in standard from the games that I have seen this year both praccy's and first 2 rounds, the glaring difference in the sides from my point of view has been ball handling skills and hitting targets with handballs or passes.Don't write Chaddy off yet, once the new training regime transposes into matches they just might surprise, could never discount their courage though, how many of you could front up for training and games after the last 2 years, takes pure commitment and guts.
