Was really impressed with Rhylee West on Friday, watched him closely - lots of gun running and pressure, reminds of a younger Jason Castagna quite a bit.

Buku down back was good too. I'm liking the next crop coming through. Need to sort out the key posts down back and we're reasonably set up for a while. Wish we kept Young and played him in his natural position
Young is no loss at all. Doesn’t have any strength, mobility or aggression and makes Gardener look like Bailey Dale ball in hand. The only thing he can do is float across and take a mark once per game.

Our mids are in the business of winning clearances regardless of who’s rucking. It’s been done to death, we don’t need to go over it again

Sweet offers less on the field than just about any player on any list in the comp at the moment and tonight’s game was another example of that.

9 hit outs and did sweet * all across the rest of the game. If there’s any game for the Sweet Fanatics to come to the realisation he doesn’t make our team better tonight was it. Some think English had a shocker and still made Sweet look like he’d won an on field match day experience in a raffle.

Sorry VP but the obsession with Sweet now seems at a crazy coo coo level. He could sit on the bench as the medical sub all game and some in here would post how well the 2 ruck tactic

The strength of the current playing list is the mid-field. We have a poor defence and a good forward line with Naughton firing but average otherwise against the best teams. It should, by now, be clear - when we play a single Ruckman against the best teams we can't win. Aside from Bont's game, the most outstanding feature of the game against the Saints, was that we were able to nullify Marshall and Ryder the way we did. When both Marshall and Ryder fire the Saints have been able to beat even top 4 teams.

Sweet played a critical role in ensuring that our mid-field at all times could do its work.

Quite frankly, if it was not for this persistent reluctance to play two geniune ruckman we would be entrenched in the top 8 right now.
So by all means bag Sweet - but his ability on Friday night to counter both Marshall and Ryder in the Ruck contest was outstanding. And our ability tow curb the influence of the St Kilda Ruck men was every bit as significant as Bont's performance in delivering us a win.

It’s not defamatory when it’s clear cut you don’t like him because of his skin colour. It’s obvious when so many other people say the same thing.

A young key forward who was our leading goal kicker and showing some promising things at times whilst still finding his feet in an unstable team, yet still gets dragged down by s**t people like you with wildly unreasonable standards.

Was D Mitchell the one talking about Irish erasure or some shit with Jamarra? He clearly has problems with the kid.

West is so agile. I believe he was one of the top ranked draft prospects for agility and it showed last night. That step around the saints player was just so nimble. I think it’s a trait that mixed with his attack on the footy and cleanliness makes him really dangerous in the forward line.
So strong in the air too, plus a bit hit and miss in front of goal but actually has some goal sense and a knack for hitting the scoreboard. He’s actually a very good forward and could possibly be a great forward if that’s where we see him

Hopefully not. He's a spud
I must be the odd one out because I really rate him and his defensive pressure, not everyone can be the Bont.. you need the manic tackling foot soldiers that can be relied upon each game. I think Rhylee fits that category perfectly, either way I didn't mean offence - always good to see a player get the most out of their talents.

I think he meant Castagna's the spud.

We're all on board with Rhylee. Is good now. Will get even better.

I don’t really watch a lot of other clubs games but isn’t Jason Castagna a triple premiership player with over a hundred games to his name? Sounds like a pretty good player to me. Not everyone is as good as Toby Green.

Err, I think you mean 'gut running', Brian ol' son.

If you come here to troll, you need to get your expression right.

You'll never get through VCE if you don't, either.

Thanks for dropping by, old bean!

Agreed, people forget that Marshall and Ryder have single-handedly demolished us in the past. I don’t care if Sweets stat sheet reads 0, 0, 0 - his impact is helping to nullify the opponents usually dominant rucks, free up English to play his best and allow our midfield a level playing field all day. Until we have someone who can do that whilst impacting with the ball themselves, Sweet stays. Especially for the run again Melbourne, Freo and Geelong, each of which we need two rucks for.

Hopefully we’ve now realised this, but I’ll be surprised

Not concerned at all about Bukus kicking, he’s a great ball user at VFL level. Technically perfect, just sometimes his decision making can be a bit hit or miss but it was his first game at the level in a few weeks, ball use definitely isn’t an issue for him. Needs to play every week over O’Brien now, he’s ready. A big fullback to release Keath to CHB with Buku the interceptor is what we need, Brucey?

After watching the game again, two things from me:

The Bont is closing on EJ as the greatest Bulldog of all time. He has EJ's ability to carry/inspire the side to victory. Apologies to Chris Grant, but Bont is now #2 and closing quickly.

I'm enjoying the development of West, Buku, Garcia and JUH. West in particular - he wants the ball and backs himself in. Gotta love that.

Doing that. Very very slow.
Its a few months thing to see results, I was 100 kegs and gym fit but needed to tone down so in a few months I've dropped 11 kegs and its awesome.
I sopped the Pepsi and stopped the sugar in coffee and replaced it with Equal and stopped take away and it works,

Never drink pepsi - sparkling water only & coffee sugar has been replaced with Natvia. Cals down around 1200 - 1400 per day. Fish & veg only diet. This has been over a couple of years. Hardly call this an answer to your diet prayers. Being 57 probably doesn't help.

Do you still get to have a grog now and then? I dropped 4kg through dropping milk out of my coffee’s over about 6 months. I did drink a lot of coffee but now I need to drop another 4. I’m weighing up what dietary element I need to sacrifice. Grog is last resort.

Tonights the classic list management reason as to why you don't spend huge assets on defence.

You can find interceptors from anywhere. If reason enough was Buku playing a good game intercepting you look at the saints and there best player is a rookie draft selection who was intercepting at will for the entire night.
Steven May (and to a lesser extent Jake Lever) have completely transformed Melbourne and won them a flag

Need to build a bit of muscle to increase your metabolic rate; rather than diet. This is probably the easiest way I have found to lose the last 3-5kgs of fat. Although you might not actually lose weight.

Bit of an outlier compared to other modern premiership teams.

Richmond, West coast, Bulldogs, hawthorn all didn’t spend top 15 picks on KPDs. Rance probably the highest selection at pick18.

Balta, Grimes, McGovern, Barrass, Hamling, Roberts, Morris, Lake, Frawley, Gibson.

None of them are top 20 picks except for Frawley who cost Hawthorn nothing in terms of picks to trade in.
