Great steadying win when it looked like we were about to get run over the top of. Arty Jones was immense up fwd, so clean and great pressure. The talls still get in eachother's way a lot, but always look very dangerous and are starting to find a bit more chemistry together I think. Libba immense in the middle as always. The HBFs were great, especially Ed with his intercept throughout the night.

Did the commentators put on black armbands after the game? What a bunch of ...

It was a very good win in the end. Played absolutely brilliantly once we lost the lead. Arty Jones was involved in everything late.

Don’t think we played fantastically in the first 3 and a half quarters, even when we had the big lead was probably more due to Carlton’s incompetence. Had at least 4 sodas within 35m that they didn’t score (McKay, Motlop, Walsh, Cripps). Not sure how we didn’t put them away at 42-11 with them so down on confidence.

But it would’ve been easy to let them run away with it when we lost the lead but there was some steely determination to will ourselves over the line. Would be nice if we did it a little easier in future.

All the half backs were outstanding, Smith and Libba were great in the middle and Arty had himself some moments.

Ed Richards has been huge. Has to be in AA contention back there

Weightman might still be struggling a bit with that adductor? Was getting it worked on for a while in the 4th and had a pretty low TOG%, Macrae quite low too for some reason.

Totally agree! My phone nearly got thrown through the TV at least 5 times in that second half.

Arty Jones and Baz were huge in the last quarter, Libba also was great and our defence lead by Liam Jones was fantastic. English had his worst game of the year by a mile and the midfield got beaten mostly until the very end when they lifted for the last 7 minutes to get the win.

Marra struggling to hold his marks unless he is in the open but have to persist. He gets to so many contests. Just needs to get more strength to hold those..

Great to fight back after we gave up the lead but geez it would be nice for once to bury a team when we have our foot on their throat rather than letting them back into the game
I could tell how frustrated you were by your great game day posts. I was feeling what you were typing.

Bailey Smith had more centre clearances than the rest of our team combined.

Arty and Cody both had more tackles than the rest of our forwards combined.

When was the last time we had 2 elite small pressure forwards in the same team?

I have been raving about the selections the past month or so. The JOD selection was the MC of old, that was an unwelcome return.

Clearly they wanted to reward his hard work and talent but got caught up in the story. Fair enough to come in if he was going to play down back where he has dominated but playing him forward put him on a hiding to nothing and through out the structures that had been working so well the past month.

He tried hard and it’s good the kid had a win but he was put in a bit of an unfair situation.

McNeil had been in really good touch as the sub and the game he came in when Libba was out. Made no sense that he didn’t come in to the 22.

We just need one of them to not fly against our talls and be front and centre for the crumbs!

For mine the decisive factor in the last 20 minutes was English finally working out (or was instructed) that he needed to jump over Pittonet at the centre bounces.

For most of the game Pittonet was positioning himself and using his bulk at the drop of the ball at centre bounces and at around the ground ball ups.

He would then just drop the ball at his feet giving the Carlton mids first use of the ball and thus the lopsided contested ball advantage they had for most of the night.

Once this adjustment was made the game swung back onto our terms.
