Yeah, which was my point.

The first night of night 2 is the valuable one.

That first 2024 ER1 PP is extremely valuable.
Agree the first pick of night two is valuable though it hasn't been traded since 2019 (2020 was one night).

Jeez some of you - some - come across as entitled (insert whatever word here)

3 first rounders for nothing - on top of a second and third last year - for your club running itself into the ground.

No bad luck. No run of guns getting badly injured etc. just poorly run and poor development of the plethora of high picks you already have.

Now you are turning the corner but don’t whinge about being given a massive leg up on the rest of the comp.

And yes Gold Coast got a free number one pick - but they have been around 5 minutes and been pillaged for their best players each year by the big VIC clubs.

No excuses for you blokes - you were playing finals regularly just 6-7 years ago

Make a case for poor development citing specific players please

GC don't really need points.

TBH, 14 + the 2 x future end of R1 picks might be a preferable deal to the Dogs.
Further, the difference between 14 and 19 is only like 160 points.

Given that first pick would be swallowed up by their Walter bid anyway, I'd hope we could make it 19 + 2 future picks. Then, if needs be, we could add something like a fourth rounder to make up the difference.

19 + 19 + 20 = Pick 2.

It's about a 1000 point surplus to pick 5.

It's funny if the AFL came out and gave us pick 4, we would probably all be happy, so if we just went up and traded all 3 x PP's to the GC, it could make sense.

Take 2,3,5,14 to the draft.

AFL reserves the right to trade the future firsts. Code for burn the **** out of them this year in trades or else they could be stripped either for players, or improved draft position this year or next.

Is there a team that knows they need more points next year?

That reeks of the AFL parenting North.

‘You’ve got 5 minutes to pick what toy you want from the store otherwise we’re going home’

.... In addition, we have spoken with Gold Coast and suggest that you should speak with them about their pick 4.

Lol you're joking right?

Our best player injured on and off all season, one of our most talented players gone AWOL due to off-field stuff, and our coach being lynch mobbed out of town for half the year don't count as bad luck?
Let's not forget losing Cunners to cancer at the peak of his powers. But, yeah, no injuries etc

Sorry to intrude but I would have thought the late 1st rounders would be given to Nth so you have the leverage to go after the Suns pick and get your man Sanders rather than chase Reid?
Geez WC fans are so desperate to take Reid it's funny. Jumping at shadows at any mention WC may trade that pick

Nah zero chance they disappear if they are traded on otherwise no club will deal with us.

They are also concreted end of first round so clubs know the exact value as opposed to being attached to our hypothetical ladder position.

The AFL 100% wants at least one of them traded.
They want us to trade both and improve quicker. They want other clubs to have the picks next year.

l cant see us looking at getting Sanders unless

a) we do a trade to get GC 1st round pick and then

b) on trade it to the Hawks for their 1st Round pick

giving us 2,3,4 . If this doesnt happen then the Hawks will take Sanders at #4...

we will then take Curtin and McKersher and you can have Reid...

Assuming we finish bottom 2 again next year you would think we will be right back asking for more assistance.

If draft picks were not the only way to help us improve was there anything about an increase in the soft cap for development coaches or something?

Since they've given us future picks for next year already, I think we would hear a big fat no if we asked for assistance next year.

Turning the corner - I don't see it

Guns getting injured - Comben, Logue

No bad luck - Hawthorn saga, Rhyce Shaw mental health breakdown, president with cancer, Cunnington cancer, Paul Roos being hopeless

Playing finals regularly 6-7 years ago - also have the worst 4 year record since University (100 years ago)

Anyway fk off now you toilet

They aren't true first rounders when we are in such compromised drafts. Late first round picks that get pushed out into the 20's and 30's aren't going to help us unless we package them up to get higher. I would have preferred they ripped the band aid off last year and given us a decent PP last year.

And how the **** can you say no bad luck? How were we meant to plan for Rhyce Shaw's mental meltdown due to covid or Al Clarkson racism scandal? How were we meant to plan for an entitled pick 1 walking out on us a year into his contract? We've had plenty of bad luck, that goes with poor development and recruiting.

I think it foreshadows Teams having to use a pick from the same round if matching f/s and academy picks. Brisbane and GC would be in the market, and at least this way you don’t end up with the grand finalists having some weird leverage holding the end of round picks.

Yeah. It's not like we had our only #1 pick ever turn out to be a molly coddled man baby and walk out after one year.
