Hume council must have won Tattslotto, just heard east Sunbury getting a $4 million upgrade of the sporting facilities.
That's greenvale, craigieburn, Roxy, Westy and east Sunbury all getting upgrades. That's a lot of money been promised

It's bloody awesome footy provides a lot to the local community and probably been a Long time coming I can't recall councils spending much money on footy clubs in recent times

did hear sories of the broady sporting club being relocated to jacana reserve which would be great for jacana still a Long way off though

Was informed last year that East Sunbury getting new clubrooms on the other side which will incorporate the full deal. Social rooms, change rooms etc..The current ones are for the baseball club. Should be a good set up down there if they put them in the right position, unlike what's happened at other clubs over the years..

Think upgrades might have something to do with the boom of women's footy. Agree it's long overdue at some clubs..

Yeah but if a club looses 5 quality 1 pointers then to replace them it could be minimum 15 points if the other juniors aren't as good then could be a big huge in the long run.
Some juniors might use this to get an extra 50-100 a week.
Tullamarine will have that problem this year. They have lost 5-7 1 point players. So with no juniors coming thought then thats 15-21 points minimum to replace. That's nearly 50% of points.
5-7 ??

Tulla have only lost 4 1 point players. 3 of them were in the grand final side

Gents I do remember hearing that if a club had women's/girls footy start up and continued going, there was a incentive payment via AFL Vic. The incentive was pretty big.

Can't see it happening until after the season but it happening.
If you say so. But from Moonee Valley Council info it says that next upgrades were strathmore, fairburn park, cross keys then Ascot Vale Leisure Center and Buckley Park.
So I guessing they must be after this along with Abers

Well brockway Laurie and the Scott's are all 1 points. If burns and schivello played then they were both 1 point this year so maybe 6 then

Probably due to msssive growth in the area, a lot more town house blocks and houses going up so more revenue coming in with rates, most councils have put a big focus on sporting clubs over the last 10 years as there starting to realise how important they are to the community, also by hiring them out during weekdays when footy and cricket aren't using them means more cash flow. If woman's takes off then most facilities would need to be upgraded as they wouldn't meet the standard for them. Think Hume does a pretty good job, grounds here are in awesome nic and if they spent the next 5 years upgrading the clubs to a descent standard than its upwards for sporting clubs. It's fair to say all clubs in the region need the upgrade so fingers crossed they all get the nod at some stage

Now we just need Moonee Valley council to get moving..

I think also they should build netball courts where possible as well and use the upgraded rooms for multipurpose. Also like to see lawn bowls incorporated where clubs have space.
Plus a playground for the young ones and have everything in the 1 area..

Moonee valley Council do ok.
Moreland is the one being left behind

What time mate. Might head down to see the mighty Port Demons..

Did you make it to the game? Keen to hear some thoughts on it..

Also, can only be a great thing for local footy that councils are FINALLY putting some effort into grounds and facilities. Too often in the past the clubs have been forced to find sponsors or do the work themselves to improve facilities

Westy played Moama yesterday up at Moama. Hot conditions, westy had half side missing and got up by 4-5 goals. Great signs with 7 under 19 kids playing in the seniors.
Looking forward to the season getting closer so we can see where everyone sits

Mel did you catch the Wallan v Westy game the other week?

I did and to be fair watched it more from our side of things. Was surprised we won, but looked good doing it. Westy were very good in the 1st 1/4 though. It was very hot too mate.
