Would you actually do that though?
Passing on Brodie and McCluggage could be painful

YOM + what is left of mcclug\brodie/sps/marshal

V

Mcclug + say drew.

It is close but I am leaning toward YOM. Definitely a big risk. It depends on how we rate marshal / sps to mcclug.

Hyperthetically we could get Brodie

GC - mcclug (getting Bowes don't need brodie)
Bris - sps (again need silk over in and unders)
Freo - marshal - need more then McCarthy.

Dreaming Probs but there is a long now of logic.

We are being the saints last year! We aren't going to get O'Meara in the PSD we are dreaming! A trade will get done don't be as bad as the Saints and the Carlisle deal

Nah **** GC.

After the Caddy trade week when they went and cried to the media saying it was us who were being difficult I hope offer very little and use PSD as a real threat.

If it was another club I'd prefer a real fair trade, but not these sanctimonious pricks.

I feel the need to clarify some poor posts from people trying to understand, describe QLD culture... Unless you live here you couldnt possibly make the 'redneck' comment a legit one.

Sure the differences between victoria and queensland is there. But QLD have plenty of qualities that VIC doesnt and vice versa, QLD has the better weather, closer to places like the great barrier reef, the gold coast luxury appeal etc etc, its ridiculous to compare the 2.

Firstly the state is just a giant bandwagon. Fortunately i avoided it all. Whoever is winning. Be it the broncos, cowboys, roar, reds etc etc. whoever is winning. The fans come in droves. But as soon as they lose. Nup whoelse is winning? They dont care about codes. Only wins! There are plenty of diehards but its very fluctuating.

Also i believe the big problem with the 2 QLD teams isnt because of this. I think the culture of the big boy old crew coaches at brisbane have pushed alot of youngsters out as some have mentioned.

And with GC. I believe players seeing the success of GWS this season make them think they are missing out. And without a solid culture base yet because of being a new club. Its hard to have that rich history that draws players to a club.

Well keep the trigger clauses but make the triggered periods longer. If other clubs think he's worth more then let them pay more. No point us paying overs for a guy who may never play again. There's Fyfe and a bunch of other coming out of contract next year, no point throwing fistfulls of cash at the first OOC player we cross paths with.

People keep talking about JOM as if he's a gun player. He's not. He was 2 years ago; however fast forward to the present day and he's just a guy who's missed a couple of crucial years of development and can't play out a full game in the 2s without his knees packing it in. That's what's on the table, not Gary Ablett II.

And if you think that way that's fine. You don't make an offer.

But offering a one year contract with a trigger clause isn't a serious offer and wouldn't be treated as a serious offer by O'Meara or his management.

When we were after Caddy, Hooker was on the trade table and that wasn't a good enough deal for them. Not only are they stubborn, but they're stupid. I agree with you on this.

Back end a 3 year contract. We will have plenty of money to throw around in 2018 and 2019. 3 years, 2 million. Once we can get him to say he wants to come to our club and nominates us then we are in a very strong position, with plenty of leverage.

We need to go hard early with a deal, knock the rest of the competition out. I feel Hawks have their eyes set on T.Mitchell. Geelong no money, WBD ? (not a priority), North and Richmond (who would want to go there). Melbourne ? maybe

Looks pretty likely that grimes and trengove will be available in pre season draft. Wouldnt mind having a look at either. Can get them for absolutely nothing. Trengove is a very good player with really unlucky injuries.

O'Meara has more talent than both of those two combined, so thanks but no thanks.

Whilst I would like O'Meara, unless you are 1000% sure that O'Meara is healthy. Then you don't pay him $700k, think of the ripple effect that could have on the younger blokes awaiting their payday and having to earn whilst this guy is getting paid for his potential.

I also would take pick 1 completely off the table. You don't risk the best shot your club has at improving on a huge risk.

He's worth the risk if he wants to come to Ess.

EFC can't have a negative attitude and pre empt what might happen to Jaeger (which they don't, they have been into him for over 12 months, plans are well advanced). Aside from the finances, if we can get him to walk to the PSD it would be the biggest coup in the history of the game.

On this occasion it would be low risk for possible massive reward.

Bigger than Barrassi?

More than happy to give pick 19 for O'Meara - Big injury risk but bucket loads of talent.

More than happy to take him in the PSD only if he wants to come to us. Prefer to keep our first 3 picks in this draft and not risk them on a bloke who is every chance not to make it onto the field.

Hawthorn did risk = premierships

Did not risk top 5 picks. Took risks with later first round picks only after building the core of the side with early picks.

I'd gamble that next years first rounder will be in the teens and offer that on its own.

I think that's fair.
Same.
Even if we have every reason to expect that JOM will regain his full capabilities I'd still be bringing up his downside risk in the negotiations to try and get a better deal

It might have looked bold and risky to us but you can be sure they did an unbelievable amount of due diligence on any risky decision before they went ahead with it which makes it a whole lot less risk in reality
