I had bad patella tendinitis and stopped playing footy as a result. The pain was that bad I couldn't sit on a train with knee bent without pain let alone play footy. Ended up getting a lateral ligament release (think Kommer did the same from memory). Eased the pressure and the pain went away but problem was I lost balance - if I get knocked from the side not much stability and I generally fall over. Hopefully omearas is a lot better than that and no doubt he's a truckload fitter than I ever was with stronger quad muscles. Surgeon told me quad muscles are the key - however achieving huge strength in quad muscles legally is a challenge.

Squatty mcSquat squat.

Fair enough, if we can walk though that'd be preferable particularly if there is the potential for us to go after someone like Patton. Most of the competition (and definitely Gold Coast) would hate us but can you imagine the end result of the off-season. We get Joey a KPF partner for potentially the next 10 years, we get a guy who (if we can get him fit and keep him fit) has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the competition, and we hold on to Pick 1 and take (statistically) the best young player (McCluggage) in the draft.

Imagine having all of the following to choose from in the midfield rotations post-Watson, Stanton, Goddard, Hocking, etc.: Heppell, Z.Merrett, O'Meara, Parish, McCluggage, Colyer, Zaharakis, Langford, Laverde, Walla, Fantasia, Redman, Morgan, etc. Obviously you can't fit them all in but that's still incredible depth. Starting midfield of something like the following would be pretty exciting:
Colyer - Heppell - Zaharakis
Ruck - O'Meara - Z.Merrett
Then you have Parish, McCluggage, Langford, Laverde, Walla and Fantasia all rolling through...

its a sexy proposition but first lets get this loss to carlton out of the way to get the number 1 draft pick in national and PSD.
And then secondly wait to see if O'meara even nominates us? we haven't had much luck in the past.

Well, like you I heard there was no issues between the two - beat up. Somewhere in between is probably the truth.
Not going to a club because of 1 person is pretty pedantic to be honest, I've played every year of my footy with people I don't like you just have to harden the **** up and do what your paid to do and that's play footy!

Agree. McKenna is a line coach too, not senior coach.

Tread carefully with Motlop. There must be off field issues for Geelong to trade him.

Agree. Albums are not selling.

Don't understand why people are so antsy about trading for O'Meara. Pretty much everyone in the media is now saying that because the Suns have basically taken a childish and immature 'cutting off the nose to spite the face' approach to this whole thing, if O'Meara chooses Essendon then he just walks. Gold Coast have badly shot themselves in the foot here, and I fully expect that it will come back to bite them.

They've given O'Meara and his manager all the incentive they need to just walk away from them. Its common sense to not trash a player (and attempt to strip them of their right to choose a new home) who's on their way out, as it'll mean the manager and player simply won't deal with the incumbent club.

Guarantee if any of us were in O'Meara's situation and had just been repeatedly trashed by the club and its supporters both immediately after the announcement that we were leaving (and in the weeks leading up to said announcement), we would tell the club to get f***ed. I sure as hell wouldn't be doing business with the Suns.
I think any club with the #1 pick in the PSD would be trying to convince a good player to walk to them... clubs will use anything to get ahead.

Lets not forget Port and St Kilda trying to convince Ryder and Carlisle to use the apparent clause to void their contracts.

Or bulldogs CEO Peter Gordon trying to get Crameri to flip so he would get a minimal sentence.

I really think after the last few years we owe no club any sense of 'good guy' approach to things
