Eilish Sheerin in a trade for pick #18, wow, that is good dealing by our department, very good dealing. Even though she is 32, to have another top player come in for four years while we are in the window is great management.
WELCOME TO THE MIGHTY ROOS "EILISH" YOUR GOING TO LOVE IT HERE, TAKE NO PRISONERS!

I say this is the most respectful way. But AFLW is more akin to local football than the top level of the mens game.

In that respect, I think it far easier/likely to maintain an elite level into your mid 30's.

I think people are off the mark having issues with a R1 pick for a 32 year old in this instance.

They miss the bit about our 1st rounder?

It's as if we checked our Christmas stocking and found Eilish in there the way these idiots are carrying on.

Meanwhile Geelong win a flag and somehow take on a salary dump from a shit club and crickets.

Forget back to back, it's time for a three peat... ,

Indeed it is. And topping up the current list, with it would appear a very good player, irrespective of her age and possible longevity in the game, in my opinion at least, makes very good sense.

We have easily the best list in the competition - feel free anyone to dispute this. As the nostril has stated, we have a lot of over 30s (kearney, shierlaw, rennie, wright, king, garner). Everyone of those was crucial in assisting us win the flag this year.

In my eyes at least, everyone of those has another year or two of very good football in them. Why not try to get another flag next year and a third in 2026? Surely adding a very good player in Sheerin to top up the current list must make us better in the short term.

Imagine that. Three flags. Marvelous stuff.

And then we might fall off a cliff. Would that be the worst thing in the world? I think not.

The bloke who cuts my hair (more accurately known as a "search and rescue mission") is a Tigers man.

He has said to me, " Who cares about the winning the spoon this year and maybe again next year? Winning just one flag, let alone three, was more than enough of a salve to compensate for 2024."

And they will be back in the premiership business in 4 to 5 years time after this year's draft haul.

It just shows how good players will come to teams that are in contention for premierships success. Its not about the club so to speak.
Its no different to the AFL men's comp with the successful teams recruiting all the quality players.
Its why, when our AFL men's team start to improve we can hopefully start to recruit some big name players wanting to come in their prime rather than at the end of their careers .
Its also the reason teams like the Swans & Geelong etc never bottom out as they always just top up.
I always remember Colbert coming to North after 99 although unfortunately in his case he never got to experience a premiership

Yeah might as well go for it and stagger the retirements over the next 2-5 years.
Then either shop a few players to Tassie women's team (Nicole or Mia might be keen) perhaps if we need more picks.
If we can find some good prospects later in the 2nd/3rd rounds of the draft now and develop them whilst the core group is still there, then we might be able to stay up in the finals for a while.

Yeah we've paid pick 18 so not sure how that's a trade steal. She's a very good player and if other teams wanted her they could've made something happen. Plenty of pick swaps happening in that 1st round that they could have gotten involved in to get Eilish if they wanted.
