You would think we would be playing on Saturday night.

Outs in this order. Browne, Johnson, Wiggo :( and Yazz maybe Carlos.
Ins, well call me crazy but if Fish puts his hand up tomorrow i would bring him in, Betts should come in and let the other listed players put their hands up for the final spots if they are good enough.

Crazy

Wouldn't be dropping Armfield mate, Brisbane are more likely to try and hit up Brownshaw than kick running goals like the Crows did. I'd like Armfield there to pick up the spoils and run his arse outta the 50.
Yarran would be pretty stiff to be dropped, didn't do much wrong in a side that got pumped...

You might be right about horses for courses on Armfield. I have given my reasons for Yarran elsewhere

If CJ gets another game for our club i will throw up. Absolute hack. Makes me angry to see w***ers like him getting a game ahead of young kids with talent like Grigg.
I don't even think 30yearblue or smithmustscore can say the MC got CJ correct

IN: Betts, Garlett, Jacobs, Banno
OUT: Johnson, Wiggins, Browne

Banno realistically doesn't have any hope of getting in so I didn't include an out, but tough bodies and versatility is exactly what we need for finals.

I'm with Five - with Drummond & Merrett in doubt, lets bring in Jacobs and stretch their defense by playing Kreuz mainly forward. If Bradshaw gets up, likely they'll need him in defensive, which negates our lack of KPD's.

We need Garlett's defensive pressure, and Yarran does not deserve to be dropped - time to try the Betts, Garlett, Yarran combination and what better time.

We can win this. Disappointment already fading, I'm starting to get pumped - show em what you got Carlton :thumbsu:

I think the first quote shows who started it

OUT Johnson (forever?) Browne Yarran Armfield
IN Betts Garlett Grigg Jacobs

Time for the Kreuzer permanent forward surprise. Carlos stays for his versatility. Does not have to be Grigga - if AB played a blinder he could get the nod (Johnson did after one good Ants game)

I did see Wiggo's turnovers but I also saw some guys get bags kicked on them. Army was towelled up by Knights early and when this happens we do not get any run from him - not sure what to do with him.

I was talking based on the match day thread mate...

:D

you heard me, YARRAN OUT, comprehend?

yarran out garlett in, simple.

:D

It is ok to be guilty - I have been plenty of times
I cannot accept your answer as you quoted the above before abusing him
Anyway what has that got to do with starting the abuse on this thread

They've got Black & Drummond with injuries out of tonights game with Sydney. Bradshaw & Merrett still doubtful.

We've got Fev with an injured left ankle. Anyone heard how bad Fev's injury is? Any other reported injuries for us?

Out: Johnson, Wiggins, Browne
In: Austin, Betts, Jacobs (Doubting the club will be taking a punt on Warnock this year.)

Unfortunately I think Garlett misses out. Yarran was quite good today and Garlett's squandered his opportunity.

If we are to win next week we need more midfield defensive pressure. It was absolutely DISGUSTING watching Adelaide run through the middle and off the packs at will. No accountability what-so-ever. It reminded me ever so much of the Pagan days.

Austin is vital to our structure without Jamison and Waite. Thornton is just not the man to be manning up on the big forwards. Austin, although young and inexperienced is able to go toe to toe with some of the bigger bodies. I hope to God that he is fit this week.

On a positive note. Our ruckman were BRILLIANT today. Hampson was all over Maric all day. He and Kreuzer around the ground were brilliant.

If we can bring Jacobs in it'll allow us to play Kreuzer forward. I know we've been saying it all year but we now have the opportunity to do it with three in form ruckman.

Needs to be heavily iced tonight... otherwise he'll be sore. But Fevola wouldn't miss a finals campaign. He'll be right! :thumbsu:

By crazy i assume you mean Fisher?
If he kicks goals tomorrow bring him in, we need another marking forward plain and simple, we know he can take a contested mark we just need to use him properly.

What would be different about him coming back in this time.

ps Cloke kicked plenty in the Ants before coming in too

Hear hear.

Fisher is one dimensional. He can mark the ball and kick a goal if he's within 35 metres of goal on a minimal angle.

That's it.

In a game where forward line pressure has become so integral, he's not gonna make it. He's slow, can't tackle, poor disposal, has average agility and struggles to keep his feet. Lacks core strength.

I do feel sorry for him because he was an important player during the dark years but unfortunately he's just not up to it. Even his marking isn't what it was two years ago.

Bentick in the same boat, with slightly different deficiencies. ;)

I think this is spot on:thumbsu:. While Garlett seems to have developed a bit quicker than Yarran, you couldn't drop Yaz after his efforts vs Adelaide.

Opposition teams know to stretch our backline in height terms, so having Jacobs ruck with Hampson and pushing Kreuzer forward hopefully means that Bradshaw is sent Back to deal with him. The only problem with this is how Mr. J.Brown always plays so well at the Gabba when it is his (and his alone) forward 50 to roam.

If Austin is ready to go then he is a must. The finals experience alone will be beneficial to his development.

Eddie is a must to come in. His foward 50- defensive pressure was sorely missed against the Crows.

We need to bring in Jacobs/Warnock depends how fit Warnock is. Kruz to CHF, Jacobs and Hammo in the ruck. Eddie will come in for Johnson, like many have said I hope he never plays for the Blues again, it's bad enough having to carry too many soft players. What I noticed after the first 15 minutes in the first quarter is that when Adelaide stepped up the pressure we turned into the down hill skiers we have hidden away the last few weeks.

Well HARKER I agree with you, but I think a lot of us are disappointed in how pathetic we were. I at least wanted them to fight it out, I don't mind being beaten by a good team like the Crows, but to serve up that shit last night on the eve of our first finals in so long is shocking. It brought back bad memory's of the last 7 years where once we were headed we rolled over and died. And my pet hate has always been our skills and yesterday it really showed the gap between the two teams, our skills are a disgrace and it's seems to be the same players all the time even when we are winning. We better come up with a strong performance next week or we will be out before it even started.

I think the positive should be that if we're able to get over the Lions next week, then the next game will be in Melbourne regardless. It's all about next week really.

I'll be heading upto Brisbane with my family and some friends. There's no way an interstate trip is going to deny me witnessing a finals chance after waiting 8 long years.

Go Blues.

We had a team in place several weeks ago the could have taken us somewhere, and instead of consolidating we had to go chopping and changing again.
We did have injuries against us as well, it must be said.

The losses of Austin, Hadley, Robinson and Jamison have hurt. Especially considering 3 of them won't be back this year - along with Waite.

It's a pity because we had a good mix there

Good points HARKER, we live and learn and we live to fight another day. Big game next week and the Lions unfortunately for them might have a few out with injury. All I want next week from us is to show some heart and fight it our till the end.

I think Carlton will win this.

If the following are out
1. Bradshaw
2. Merrett

I think Carlton are in for good shot. We also seem to be BL bogey side.

I think Mitch Clark is a gun though, could do some damage up forward agasint short backline.

Drag Rich up forward. I suspect he and Brown might struggle to concentrate on the game if they're anywhere near each other.

That pic never gets old. :D

we will need to bring in warnock or jacobs as sentanta will need to move back into defence to play on brown.

Kruez to CHF and then jacobs/warnock into the ruck.

I know.:D Love seeing Rich in a Brisbane jumper - think about Carlton passing on him to get Yarran, every time I see it.;)

Next week should be a good game, I wouldn't consider Carlton to be a 'bogey side'. They've won the last three games by 6, 19, and 6 points.

Just for the record, one of our real 'bogey' sides, Sydney, were beaten by us twice this year.

If Blacky, Drummond, Bradshaw and Merrett, are all out, the game could go either way. 3, maybe 2 of those guys are in, and I think it'll be Brisbane by 32.

Here's hoping for a great game, and a Brisbane win, of course!:thumbsu:
