Everitt searching for new home

As posters on here, the Carlton and WB boards have pointed out that something about this doesn't quite add up... There is a bit to this and it shouldn't be so easily dismissed as 'rubbish rumours' IMO.

Everitt re-signed mid season. Fact.

His values are inequal to the clubs at hand. For the WB, they used a high draft pick on him and are still developing him. All being equal * (I will return to this point) he is worth more to the Dogs then Carlton would offer in fairness to themselves. This should be the sticking point. It is not a matter of one club shafting another, simply he has different values to both clubs, as most developing talents do outside your young guns like Selwood, Gibbs and Boak etc.

You would think normally that the only way the Bulldogs would trade him are;

*If Carlton make a huge play for him, and offer them something too good to refuse.... or

*The WB want to trade him.

Seeing as he has re-signed mid year, how could the dogs possibly want to trade him some might, and have asked. The Dogs must be made a great offer or it won't go through surely? I ask you only to think what could of possibly happened since Everitt was re-signed to change such things. Two critical things have happened since then that I think are keys to this saga.

-> Barry Hall will no longer be a Swans player and is looking for a new club.

-> Despite it being very well known already, the Dogs failed again in finals without a big KPF and the fact that they need one was reiterated.

Whether it be a 'Veale Deal' or salary cap issue I'm not sure, but this is my take on the situation. I'll leave the rest up to you guys to dissect my post and the scenario if you like....

Would the bulldogs really consider trading Everitt to either the saints or cats when they are the two teams that they are most likely to compete with for a flag over the next year or two? Or do they just do the deal for the best pick available regardless of the club?

Best deal for the club, we traded off Ray to the Saints last year, in return getting Roughead in the draft, a future big ruck / forward option, so a win/win.

That said, Everitt would be part of a teams long term plans rather than being the marquee player that would make the difference in the next 1 or 2 years anyway.

If you are going to worry about other clubs, you are really taking your eye off the ball and what us important for yourself imo.

I'm seriously praying that this is a media beat up, and not a serious thought of the Bulldogs front office. Trading Everitt would be one of the worst decisions on list management i've ever seen.

Best case scenario - if we happen to get Carlton's 1st round pick (pick 11), then we are just wasting 3 years of development. If we drafted a KPP with the pick, then we wouldn't see the fruits of our labour until 2012 at the earliest.

I hope this doesn't have anything to do with finding cap space for Barry Hall. I just can't see the recruitment of Barry Hall as being successful. At his age, he will be very susceptible to soft tissue injuries, not to mention the chance of him being reported. We are also in competition with Carlton for a top 4 spot in the future, so sending one of our best young players there is absurd.

This is 100% how every football club should think.

Whilst each team wants to get the best possible deal you need to consider that any deal can potentially strengthen either a rival club or a club that is competing for similar honours in the short term.

I agree the whole thing sounds bizarre:confused: The kid gets re signed by the Bullies and now he wants "out".Is it because he didnt get a run in the finals??? Is it because him and Eade have had a fall out??? Is it a part of the Hall deal to free up some coin???
So many questions,so few answers at this stage.

Has Eade ever been bent over at the trade table?

I don't recall it - so if he wants to trade, then let him. We're not talking Rhode here.

Have to agree mate. Just doesn't make sense does it.

The Dogs are possibly throwing his name up to give him the foot up the clacker he needs.

Eade has mentioned his disappointment at Everitts lack of intensity and effort in the past suggesting Everitt thinks it's just going to happen for him.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

I would not be trading him..With Welsh surely not going on to our list next year he has shown some good form up forward put him up there with another big bodied forward will will get in the off season and that would surely be better
No he hasn't. He hasn't kicked a bag at any level of football this year.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

If the doggies are shopping him around maybe they re-signed him so they would have a stronger position at the trading table. Personally would love to see him in Navy blue, reckon he'd be a good addition as a wingman

Don't worry, Everitt is not being shopped, Carlton would love him for a second round pick and so would every other club!. In the biz it's called planting a seed but there's no chance this one germinates.

If Carlton are interested in Everitt and what they are prepared to pay (evidently a second round pick) whats to stop a journo reporting it? Has anyone asked anyone at the Bulldogs if he's on the trade block? If they had they would find the answers no.

Where there's smoke there's fire.I think there's been way too many rumours/quotes etc floating around about Everitt to have no bearing.
Maybe the kid's ticked off he didnt get a run in the finals after he's effort in round 22??? Maybe there's heat between Eade and him????? Something isn't sitting right with this whole situation:confused:

He's an excellent young player who held down center half back for Vic Metro. The only worry was whether he could put the weight on and he has. Whilst everyone works themselves into a lather about big names switching clubs for a handfull of magic beans, the truth is young fringe players get targeted, why? Because the vast majority of players switch clubs for opportunity. Everitt has Morris and Williams ahead of him at his preferred position so other clubs are sniffing around. I also know a guy who works for the Dogs and he said Everitt is not being shopped by them. Now you can believe it or not but at the end of trade week Everitt will still be a Bulldog because they rate him and FWIW so do I.

Unless your mate's name is James Fantasia or Rodney Eade it has very little bearing. Don't get your opinion mixed with fact, there is no certainty that he will remain at Whitten Oval.... This is from yesterday's Herald Sun FWIW.

Everitt, considered promising enough by a retiring Chris Grant to hand over his No. 3 guernsey two years ago, now seems certain to be headed elsewhere.

l would suggest you are off the mark on this one, clearly something has happened with Everitt that has made the Bulldogs reach a decision to shop him around, whether it is salary cap related, they wish to offload him to assist them obtain a key forward or a dispute with the coach, every media person who obtain information cannot all be wrong, clearly he is on the market, were he will end up is anybody's guess he is not a geninue key position player so the most probable outcome will be 2nd round pick or part of a player/players exchange.

Spot on, I'm glad there are a few non-Bulldogs fans out there that have worked this out. His disposal is very good but simply doesn't get enough of the ball to play on a wing. Would be a good 3rd tall for someone like Carlton.

We shall see in a couple of weeks time but he won't be moving for a second round pick.
