Would be a good 3rd tall for someone like Carlton.
That suits us to a T.

Everitt would be a straight up and youthfull replacement for someone like Jordan Bannister.

AE would improve our depth and give us more than Jake Edwards who has been switched to the backline in the VFL.

I don't know why some Carlton fans are against the recruitment of Everitt.

We had Wiggins playing as a sweeper due to injuries, yet they don't want to bring in someone with Everitt's skill, versatility and pace. ;)

The Dogs wouldn't just hand a young talent like Everitt to the Cats or Saints if they're aiming to win a flag by acquiring Barry Hall.

Or Carlton who has beaten them in the last two or three games.

They'd be giving them a "leg up" like the Farren Ray trade.

They must have something else in mind if they're looking to ditch a 20 year old and former first round pick.

This has to be bulltish.

It's so uncommon to see a third year player with talent traded.

This has to be bulltish.

We're not against the idea of recruiting Everitt, we just think that what the Dogs are asking for (our first rnd draft pick) is too much ..

They also might be salary cap issues concerning the Dogs, with them re-signing I think 10 players recently, including Lake, and the high likelyhood they will 'recruit' Barry Hall ..

It's all about perception and forfilling promise.

Everitt was recruited as a 10-15 pick on the premise of being a KPD. If he realises his potential in this role I think he is definitely worth your 1st rounder and you will still be winners in the trade.

But I don't see him filling out to this role. At best, for mine, he's a 3rd tall defender. Others may see him as a tall, ball winning midfielder. I just don't see him winning enough ball, or running hard enough for that position.
He's a tweener for mine. If this ends up being the case, a 2nd rounder for him is probably right.

Everitt would be a great tade for a new club, but he won't get much for the doggies...it doesn't matter what pick you go at, if you can't get a spot in your team then you are worth no more then a 2nd rounder!!!

The dogs will lose value if they trade him...simply as that

Odd, that carlton were asking for Hawthorn's first round pick in the 2006 super draft in return for Thornton. I would have thought that a young KPP at genuine height for that position would easily demand pick 11 in this draft.

From memory carlton wouldn't even trade Thornton for 2 second round picks in that super draft. Probably, the worst club to trade with having ripped of West coast and Fremantle in the last two years.

Only on BF are 2 nd round picks equal to a first rounder.
I'm not sure WCE were ripped off by the Judd trade - Kennedy will be a gun KPP player, Masten is already best 22 and Notte is an unknown.

As opposed to Unlisted who are a fantastic side to trade with.

I'm not all that keen on Everitt. Jack of all trades master of none type of player. We need him going forward though when players retire so I'd like to see him fill his 2 year contract at least.

Maybe Everitt just needs to be played in a different position to the one's the Dogs have in mind for him, right now he appears as a jack of all trades because he hasn't settled in one position.

If traded to Carlton i highly doubt he will play as a sweeping backmen, as both Bower and Thornton do this admirably when we have our FB and CHB in so they don't have to take the tall forwards. He would probably end up on the wing, using his speed to link up play wide, and driving it into the forward 50. It has been suggested, and not without some merit, that due to his height and speed he could be a KPF. If true i think Carlton will definitly make a play at him, most likely supplimenting his salary and possibly the salary of any player we send along with a pick.

Personally i am all for some trade, i have suggested inprevious posts sending pick 27, and two players (Fisher and Edwards) and i do believe this is fair. I am sure the trade would most likely be scoffed at by some, i just hope something like it comes to fruition

It's not about what a players intrinsic value is, although that is often overstated, but whether the acquisition of that one player obscures broader concerns. Carlton will have to be very careful here. The Bullies could easily pull a swifty, their 'needs' are very similar to ours, after all.

Why would the Dogs want those players? They wouldn't get games at the Dogs just like they can't get games at the Blues.

Browne, Sentanta, Austin or Grigg would be options the Dogs would look at IMO.

Why would they even consider trading him.
The kid can play.
Dogs are spuds when it comes to trading.
Gave St.Kilda Farren Ray for next to nothing and he has since been starring.
Now they want to give away another 1st round draft pick to Carlton.
If they do decide to trade him - I hope they don't give him to Carlton.:(

So ridiculously untrue.

Up until this year, Ray was a flaky receiver who barely had an impact on any game he played (and watching him play like a rabbit in headlights on Friday night gave me great satisfaction).

He wanted out at the end of last year, and we played hardball to ensure we at least received a 2nd round pick, meaning we were able to draft Jordan Roughead and Liam Jones - 2 key position players who will be very good.

Name a time that Eade has been bent over at trade week?

It won't happen with Everitt - we did the right thing by locking him up to a 2 year contract less than a month ago, so if someone wants him they'll have to pay over the odds.

You are so right. How we accepted pick 19 for Jordan McMahon, i don't know. And then to make matters worse we wasted it on Callan Ward. We are such morons.

 Ray wanted to leave. Collingwood have a woeful trading reputation I wouldn't be throwing stones from your glass house.

Will be a waste if we trade Everitt. We could have selected Tippet instead of him. Was having arguments in other forums who were saying if we had a key forward on friday we would have won. I'm arguing that's to many if's and buts and missing chances is why we lost, not because we did not have Barry Hall.

I done some research and although we had alot of wins in the draft with Gilbee, Lake, Hargrave and Hahn all late picks here are some losses. In this list I have included some of our gun players only because of who could have been picked instead. And to show top picks are not the be all and end all of success. These are all players selected AFTER the player we eventually selected. I'm sure every club could do this. But imagine if our list was something like this....

Harvey or Bradshaw instead of Jackovich
Wojcinski instead of Penny
Fevola instead of Winmar
Chapman instead of Robert Murphey
Black or Goodes instead of Alvey
O'Keefe, Hille, Ling or Leon Davis instead of Giansiracussa
Petrie instead of Mc Mahon
Burgoyne or Kerr instead of Birss
Dal Santo or Steve Johnson instead of Power
Swan instead of Colbert
Mackie instead of Walsh
Cloke instead of Basset
Fisher instead of Thompson
Tippet instead of Everitt.
Franklin instead of Griffen

The players in bold I'm happy with but I think this would solve our tall forward issue.

Yes I already said that. It came to mind because thew media constantly harp on how the Bulldogs need a key Forward, And with Everitt already leaving that pick was wasted when a big man like Tippet could have been brought in. If we had that we would be in the final blah blah. So I just had a look out of interest and we missed out on the dominant forwards for duds.
