Perhaps when you haven't won a flag for 50yrs you get abit antsy. Rumour has it Big Bad Bazza wants some big dollars to front up. If they are tight salary cap wise, then they have to make some room to fit in him and Lake.
That's a strange request from Hall given the manner of his departure from the Swans.

I guess other top eight clubs are interested in Hall's services and he's shopping for the highest bidder.

Bulldogs will look to do a deal for Andrejs Everitt - Saints are keen (pick 16/17), as are Birsbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Carlton. Looks a likely type, Dogs will get a good pick for him.
Might Sydney's and Brisbane's trades include Hall or Bradshaw for Everitt? :thumbsu:

Carlton could trump Melbourne with a higher pick and the chance of playing finals.

Pick 18 isn't as good as pick 11.

To be honest I don't think Everitt is going anywhere. I just think the Bulldogs are seeing what's on offer but have no intentions of getting rid of him, why would we give him a new contract? I reckon he will be a regular in the 22 next year and the club will move on Eagleton/Welsh. There has been no comment from his manager or himself so I don't think skinny wants to go anywhere.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

Yet. Who is Geelongs CHB? Who is StKilda's CHB? Who is the Doggies CHB? Who is Collingwoods CHB?

Everitt is 20. Not many 20 year olds Holding down FB and CHB in the AFL.

Spot on. If the Doggies do trade Everitt then it will be a decision that they come back to rue. He will be a very good player, who for mine should have been playing in the Preliminary final.

It would seem to be a very strange trade to me. According to reports, he doesn't exactly light up the VFL, yet his last senior game was good. He looked ridiculously thin when he first arrived so I would expect him to take him ages to bulk up. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes?

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

So instead of getting an 18 yr old we get a 20 yr old. What's the big deal. If you want a KPP with pick 11 Talia is neither as quick, composed or as agile as Everitt.
Talia reads the play much better, plays his height and does not have the attitude issues as far as I am aware. He will be a key position whereas Everitt still hasn't settled into a position and looks like he might be a career third tall. I would take Talia over Everitt but people are entitled to think otherwise.

Talia may also not be around come Pick #11.

Something just does not add up here. He has re-signed for 2 years, and the dogs lack of talls is universally acknowledged. So why the hell would they want to get rid of a promising tall at this stage?????
Glad I'm not the only one who's confused by the Doggies trading anyone over 192cm.
Major area of concern for them as a club, always will be. They need to recruit more height, just to see who pans out. Everitt should held on to at least until he turns 22-23.

Makes no bloody sense.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

Pick #11 and Pick #27 for Everitt and Pick #15

Would a trade along these lines suffice?

The Bulldogs get to move 4 spots closer to where the action is - and obtain an extra 2nd round pick (which they may need to secure Hall?).

I know that if the media is to be beleived and the Saints/Cats are willing to give their first rounder - then we cant really compete.

Cats would be foolish to IMO.

They need to start some succession planning. Saints and Dogs could because they'll be desperate to make the most of their current lists. Hawks likewise.

I think your trade proposal has merrit, but I'm not sure I'm sold on Everitt, and would prefer to keep pick 11. I just don't know what position he'll be suited to. I heard somewhere he had grown and was closer to 196/197cm but could have heard wrong.

It makes sense if you've seen him play.

Tall does not = KPP if they lack intensity and don't put enough body on body pressure onto their opponent.
He can't play wing because he doesn't get enough of the ball, so basically he's surplus to our needs and if we get something decent for him we'd trade him.

I reckon Sydney could do a deal for Everitt. Swans give the dogs their 2nd rounder + Hall for Everitt. I'd be happy with that

Actually not too bad an offer.

Whilst they would prefer a first round selection, if it doesn't present itself, I think this is the next best deal.

If Carlton get him for pick 27 + a fringe player it'll be a steal. WTF? It's not like he's a spud or something. He's been in the system and is pretty much ready to go next year after another pre-season. He's still growing, getting used to his body. I'd take Everitt over most of these guys in this draft. If I were Adelaide I'd easily give our first rounder. Easily. 3 years in the system, was a bottom ager, ready to go. He's get some poise and class about him, KPP height but plays like a midfielder. He's a similar player to Andrew Mackie/Bower. I reckon he's a much better 3rd tall/running defender however he could play KPP. To get quality you need to give quality- this years draft looks pretty shite to be honest. It's not that great, lots of speculative picks and no one really after the top few(even they have quite a few flaws) look that flash. I'd part ways with our first rounder in an instant. If Carlton somehow get him with pick 27 + a fringe player like Hartlett/Fisher it'll be an absolute steal.

Thanks mate.
I understand where you are coming from. I haven't had the chance to see Everitt play, but I do get the intensity issue and not being a KPP.

A lot of Hawk fans see that Birchall is 191cm and state we should play him at CHB. LOL. Birchall doesn't have the body strength or attitude to even play as a 3rd tall. But, he is very good as a rebounding back who can run all day and has a beautiful, accurate kick.

To the posters discussing Dowler, at 196cm he is just starting to show signs of confidence at AFL level. It took a few season, but he did have horrific pelvic injuries, never quite got a full pre-season in, and is behind a number of young, talented forwards at Hawthorn.

Dowler played mainly as a half-back/wingman early in the year, but moved forward the last few games with Williams being out of the side. Kicked a number of goals and played some good football. Can run all day, is a good mark and can kick straight.

He does lack a bit of mongrel attitude and plays a little too much from behind. But as his confidence grows, that kind of play is disappearing. A good pre-season and a few early games under his belt, Dowler could be the big improver at Hawthorn. He has already grown as a player this year and I think next season will be his breakthrough year.

Dowler still has a lot of potential, but recently observers can see the actual talent as opposed to what we hope is there. Will live up to his #6 draft billing. And posters who think Everitt in a straight swap, or a pick and Dowler for Gibson, are dreaming. Won't happen at all. Dowler will make it as an AFL forward.

A succession plan for who?

Harley and Milburn play a role perfectly suited to Everitt IMO and he's got 10 years of football left in him if he proves good enough to make it. He's the same age as Gibbs and Kruiser, are they not part of Carltons future?

The only issue I see is we have two solid looking lads comming through in Laidler and Gillies who are just starting to break through. We'll be losing Milburn and Harley soon and Scarlett not long after that so they all might get a chance if they're good enough.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

I would not be trading him..With Welsh surely not going on to our list next year he has shown some good form up forward put him up there with another big bodied forward will will get in the off season and that would surely be better
