Fevola to Brisbane MERGED THREADS

To quote a certain extinct marsupial:

FMD

MacDonald is a better player than Rischitelli if you ask me.

Anyway, it has now been reported on the Age website that the Lions are going to pick up Fev's full salary.

Out three highest earners are Black, Power and Brown. Black is eligible for veterans list next year, Power the year after and Brown the year after that. We are well equpped to cover it.

This explains why the trade is lopsided.

Carlton just freed up a stack of cash and will be well equipped to keep the Gold Coast poachers at bay next year.

To those claiming the "principle" argument as why we have to get rid of Fev. Do you think Bryce Gibbs will accept "principles" instead of $$$ when the Adelaide Crows offer huge money to him to go home in the next couple of years? Money that Carlton will not have because of this insane Fevola trade. If Gibbs or any of our other young guns go in the next few years due to a lack of cash the "trade Fev" camp will have blood on its hands.

We may supplement Fev's income for 2 years but Gibbs is contracted for next year so it is only one year we have to secure him for before the cash is freed up again. Nobody is going to leave because we are paying part of Fev's salary, let's not get silly here. It won't be forever.

Secondly principle is not the right word. Yes, I think Gibbs is more likely to stay because he likes his club and his teammates and they are focussed together. More likely than he is to stay if he doesn't like Fev and if the club don't listen to him. Let's not forget Murphy and Judd were affected as well, not just Gibbs.

Perhaps you want to take the risk with those 3 younger guns just to keep the one person who like it or not, started all this. Who knows, we can lose them all but keep Fev until he is 40 and start all over with the number one draft picks.

That really does make me feel much better :thumbsu:

Was that Dorotich that gave Rishitelli that lovely pearl necklace?

"Midfielder Rischitelli has a year remaining on his contract, which is believed to be in the $250,000-$300,000 range after the former Western Jet was heavily pursued by Essendon two years ago and chose to remain a Lion. He is thought to have some reservations about moving back to Victoria."

Doesn't sound super keen.

Interesting that a Keilor boy did not want to go to Essendon - why would he want to come back now - because it is hard to stay when they want you to move

i'm gonna keep pretending he killed brett thornton at the brownlows to ease the pain.

HE WAS OUR GENERAL OF DEFENSE FEVOLA, HOW COULD YOU??
LMAO. You killed T-Bird .... you bastard!!!

I was going to pretend Fev got a career ending injury and try not to watch Lions games anymore.

My daughter is a Fev fan and got excited she could watch him every second week so I was thinking about a membership so she could go, but she has thought about it tonight and decided she doesn't like Brisbane because the only times she sees Carlton is against Brisbane and she loves Carlton, so we no longer have to go down that path.

Tragic injury for Fev. Oh, what we will we do without him. Let's elevate a rookie for a few years and soldier on. Ho hum.

I talked to him at the B&F on Friday night (it was still up in the air if we were going for Fevola), he said Melbourne was too cold and wanted to stay in Brisbane. But with Bradshaw potentially heading down with him and after the interview with Blues, he could change his mind.

And a ****ton of salary cap space.

Will be handy when the Gold Coast launches its raid next year.

Grew up in Warrandyte, moved to Brisbane as a teenager.

Yes I know, I know Joel quite well. Played junior footy with him.

His immediate family...Dad, brother mum all live up here though.

he has been here going on 10 years.
