Psychological assessment pre-recruitment only predicts mental resilience to cope with the rigours of AFL. However, there is no such psychological assessment to predict which player will be next to be hit by mental health issues. Mental illness can hit anyone of us in the future, regardless of how much of a smile we put on today.

There would also be plenty of high performing players in the AFL that suffer and manage mental health issues

Interesting last two draft picks by Adelaide out of Sandringham Dragons have now left the Crows disillusioned not only by AFL but one has never played again and thinking Fish will do the same. Crows have another Dragons on their list and reported he may be heading back by end of year. Maybe Crows recruiters need to re asses their focus on Dragons as basically wreck 2 guys careers and maybe a 3rd
