This debacle is a flat out disgrace. Pick effing 6 on a mentally weak third tall defender that lacks the physical attributes to be a professional athlete. They’d be 100 blokes in bush leagues that could make a decent fist of a third tall spot and we use pick 6 to get a failed one.

Only 13 more years or so of watching Serong tear the comp up and jag multiple AA’s, B&Fs and top 10 Brownlow finishes. Won’t even start with how painful it’s going to be watching what De Koning turns into.

I read the articles as though it was implied the retirement was from mental health issues. Nobody retires this young without a major physical and/or mental aspect. I think it’s a fair assumption even if no specifics are mentioned, particularly when there has been no reports of major physical injuries.

Why does it have to be mental illness? Can’t it be someone who does not want the pressures of an AFL career/personal life and all that brings? It is a high pressure career. Not many are cut out for it
