So what I do is the tied players get the same number of votes but the next player with the most votes skips the next vote rung.

So in your example (I see Harris has currently slipped one vote ahead!) it would Joe with 5, Lester and Andrews each with 4, Neale with 2 and Will with 1. This would mean that there are still only five players getting votes.

If there are two players tied for the 1 vote, they will both end up with a vote and six players get votes for that game.
Thx.

Bus to the city, train to my station, drive the rest of the way
That doesn’t make sense to me.

Even with the bus stopping every stop from Griffith to the city, it would be no more than half an hour.

I don’t know where you live, but if you’re driving to a train station and parking your car, wouldn’t you be better off driving somewhere close to Griffith and parking, or parking one or two stops from the Griffith, and only catching the bus a short distance.

Well, of course what I would end up doing is driving straight there and contributing to the traffic and parking problem in the Nathan area, because who wouldn't. But what I would PREFER to do is save on greenhouse gases and catch public transport. And yes, I drive to the station because it's too far to walk. That's the outer western suburbs for you, I'm afraid.

Here's Translink's calculation for public transport, leaving QSAC at 10.30pm.

Now a couple of caveats to this: there's work on the line this weekend so that last bus would just be the train journey all the way to Darra, so not quite as long as it shows here. And it's not unreasonable to suggest that buses would be put on from QSAC to the city centre.

On the other hand, how many buses would it take to evacuate let's (conservatively) say 10000 people to the city centre, and how long would it take them to leave QSAC and set out on the journey? Unless you're on the first buses (in which case you're leaving at least mid-way through the last quarter) you'll have a long, long wait.

The bus situation would be like going to a Suns game but with a crowd. :(

QSAC is notorious for having terrible public transport. The stories of people trying to leave concerts there over the last few years are dreadful. It's true that the roads have improved in recent years but that really only helps road users wanting to pass through the area, not those attending the venue. Yeah, I can't see myself using public transport if we end up there. It might hold 30K or so but they'll all want to be leaving at the same time. There's no reason to hang around because there's nothing else to do there within walking distance, unless you like visiting cemeteries. It will be bad before the game and much, much worse afterwards.

Sometimes 10 years can feel like 20 ... even 10 feels like a surprisingly long time ago!
(game was in 2013 btw)

Was about to say, have I missed 10 years of life somewhere.

Had a young family, dad and three early primary aged kids all decked out in club gear sitting behind me at the reserves today. Pretty recent arrivals from northern England going by the accent on them. Anyway, Dad spent some time explaining how the scoring works and once the penny dropped, young master 7-ish let fly with "Yeah, go the fooking Lions!"

In a similar vein, my physio is a young woman who's played international junior soccer for Wales, and is currently on the Brisbane Roar extended list. During the week she mentioned that she was at a recent game at the Gabba and was slowly learning the rules. Apparently she's played some soccer with Greta Bodey before GB switched to footy (Greta was far too quick and hard-running for her to keep up with). I think I managed to convince her that giving footy a try was worth a shot, who knows she might be another cross-code success story. I'll let you know of further developments 😄

Nice to see the AFL getting under the skin of the NRL.

On one hand they are livid about the Today Show trying to get their ratings up by using AFL stories to match Sunrise
On the other, they are taking their best product "State of Origin" away from their base of Brisbane & Sydney, to promote the game in non NRL cities like Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne each year.

Now the relationship has reportedly deteriorated even further with the NRL lodging an official complaint over its lack of coverage on the breakfast show.

News Corp first reported the relationship has reached “rock bottom” with chairman Peter V’landys and CEO Andrew Abdo formally complaining to network executives over what the league perceives to be a lack of promotion.

The Sunday Telegraph reports the NRL is unhappy the free-to-air broadcaster has favoured AFL stories in national coverage because of the rival code’s established position as a genuinely national competition — despite having limited interest in NSW and Queensland.
......................
The report claims the NRL is particularly surprised given AFL coverage on The Today Show is a direct free-kick for Nine’s broadcast rival Seven Network, the free-to-air rights holder of the Aussie rules competition.

The Today Show is reported to have made a conscious decision to focus on AFL in order to challenge Sunrise’s recent ratings supremacy.

NRL bloke collapses behind play and while he's prostrate, surrounded by medicos and concerned mates, dumbarse fan engagement person interrupts the shocked silence of the crowd by spinning tunes over the PA. It's not just in our sport there's an uncontrolled infestation of these parasites.

So you were watching the Raiders or the VFL? 😁
