Fraser Gehrig Or David Neitz @ Full Forward

NEITZ! I've been a Neitz fan for just about 15 years he's supertough at the footy and has great all round footy skills. He is a master at kicking tough goals and always tries his heart out for the club. I saw him disclocate some hawthorn players shoulder a couple of yrs back in a fair hip and shoulder which created a goal its that sort of thing that you always remember about a player. Gehrig can be erratic and sloppy and whist he has kicked more goals the last few years he is younger and has a much better midfield than the dees.

NEITA by a mile.

Fraser Gehrig
1995 AFL Rising Star Nominee Neitz 93
1997, 2004 All-Australian neitz 95,2002
2001 2nd St Kilda B&F neitz winner 2002 2nd at least twice
2004, 2005 Coleman Medal neitz 2002
2004 Pre-Season Premiership ??
2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Leading Goalkicker (St Kilda) 2002,2003,2004,2006 and maybe 2001,1999,1998 those i am not sure

Also holds the West Coast and St Kilda Bench-Press records at 172.5kg

Has played permanent full-forward for St Kilda since the start of 2003, and in that time has kicked 343 goals @ 3.36 goals per game.

Does a sh |t load of charity work ... ran through the banner in his 250th last week with a disabled girl who he has spent time with. Spends several hours a week at hospitals with children, and is always giving people free meals at his restaurant.

One of the natural captains at St Kilda too ... often Gehrig takes charge of training sessions and directs the players, and he will always have a word in the ear of several players during the course of the match, offering advice and encouragement.
pretty comparable.

Fraser Gehrig = 22 Votes (7 Saints Supporters)
David Neitz = 10 Votes (6 Demons Supporters)

So to be fair supporters of each teams players votes are more than likely going to be bias.....except for 1 vote which was from a Melbourne supporter to Gehrig., So im going to not include them.....

Fraser Gehrig = (22-7) = 15 Votes
David Neitz = (10-6) = 4 Votes

Fraser Gehrig 78.94%
David Neitz 21.06%

Gehrig in a landslide.....cheers bloke/chicks!!!

FWIW, as permanent full forwards in their prime, these are their stats:

David Neitz 2002-2006

Games: 106
Goals: 323
Average: 3.05
Finals Games: 4
Finals Goals: 14
Finals Average: 3.5

Fraser Gehrig 2003-2007

Games: 103
Goals: 349
Average: 3.39
Finals Games: 6
Finals Goals: 20
Finals Average: 3.33

Statistically, not much separates them in their prime.

G-Train.

I love when he takes a mark, points at the mark position (Umpire and opponent look to see where he's pointing) and he just runs around and kicks the goal.

This works every single time. People never learn. It's pretty hilarious.

Unbelievable how often it works, especially with left footers.

Surely if you are playing on a Gehrig, Lucas or Didak, you would know that you must be extra-cautious when they take a mark, and move towards their left side.

Why would you not include Neitz's 2007 numbers yet you include Gehrig's? Are you suggesting that Neitz is past his best whereas Fraser is still in his prime at the age of 31? Maybe Neitz's numbers just don't stack up against the G-Train!

Actually, including the figures from 2002-07 for both players makes it slightly worse for Gehrig, although he's still in front on goals per game.

2002-07
Neitz: 117 games, 343 goals (2.93 goals per game as opposed to 3.05)
Gehrig: 115 games, 361 goals (3.13 goals per game, as opposed to 3.33)

GREAT performance for the g-train tonight. All those people voting for neitz saying his inconsistant and saying fraser "girl-basher" gehrig is, well there ya go.

Frase scored a wopping 0 on dream team tonight

I havent voted yet, so give me neita anyday

Neitz is one year older than Gehrig plus he has been injured all year and most of games he has played in he has been carrying an injury, including now. Doesn't make any difference though as mjr_42 has shown. There is practically nothing between them stats wise.

Great game by Gehrig tonight. Really showed how much better than Neitz he is:rolleyes:

It's a shame search isn't working as there was a poll on this about a year ago asking "who has had the better career" and it was criticised as a loaded question because obviously Neitz has had a better career than Gehrig. If anyone can find the link would be interesting.
People forget how good Neitz was at CHB, a much better defender than Gehrig. Up forward I'd have them about equal.
Neitz has it all over Gehrig as far as leadership goes and I can't believe people are arguing Gehrig is a better leader and humanitarian than Neita. Especially as the last point is irrelevant, and quite honetly a pisser.
Obviously as a Dees supporter I'd go with Neitz but it interesting to see that as the Dees have a terrible year the player ratings drop dramatically from this time last year. I'm the first to admit we suck now and some players are having shockers but I also remember last year how many Geelong players were rated as ordinary and "had been playing above themselves previous years", a good team with no stars, now they are flying many of those same players are champions again.
If the Dees bounce back next year watch all the bigfooty lemmings change their tune about certain players.

If you put it to clubs to choose who they would select if they could pick between Gehrig and Neitz at the start of their careers every one would take Neita.

2002-2006 = 5 years (David Neitz).

2003-2007 = 5 years (Fraser Gehrig).

I was simply using the statistics based on the prime of these two players career at full forward.

Nice "numbers" by the G-Train tonight by the way.
