I'd consider giving up our F1 for Tigers pick 29 (we have 2 picks in a row) and their F2
Any particular reason? Is there players you think would be a good option at that stage or are you thinking to try and push up the draft by combining the picks?

3 picks in the 20s (if there is a player we like), as well as adding an early additional 2nd rounder for the Campo boys

Personally, unless it ticks our boxes, think we trade our 2024 1st next year for multiple picks/points

I feel we could have used another experienced head or two...we've lost 600 games, and this spreads the leadership group thinner again.

Might have been worth keeping Plow around...if he was happy with the Udonis Haslem role.
Think we have enough experience .
+100 games or thereabouts (16); 1, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, 21, 23, 24, 29, 30, 42

Can always get players for the VFL separately.

They are supposedly interested in trading pick 1 for pick 2 and 2 late first rounders from North.

Not sure if the roos will bite or not. But 2, 17. 18, 23, 36 and 38 would be a good hand.

2 gets them Curtin. 17, 18, 23 gets them 3 of Collard, Tholstrup, Edwards, Hardeman or Zakosteltzki.

If they want to go local, thats the deal i've had marked down too.

Im not across the talent of incoming draftees but would three picks in the 20s be worth it in regards to talent available during that time?

Future pick makes sense though assuming the AFL doesn't mess up the current system

I’d prefer we hold our 2024 1st also. Feel Austin could use this in a trade or maximise our 2025 hand while adding points to 2024

Which of their old players have any currency?
The time to do that was 2 years ago.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, takes big balls & massive call when u don’t look that bad. End of 21 they were 1 game & percentage out of the eight, 20 they were 5th.
Think your call is spot on, but bloody hard to pull the trigger on it

I know it has been pointed out before, but I just wanted to repeat how clever the 26 for 28 swap is.

GC get some value. No difference to us. Ever so slightly reduces our need to compensate them elsewhere. Brilliant.
I also reckon it was clever by Austin to upgrade our future 3rd for Essendon's future 3rd as part of the Dow trade, which likely gave us that additional future 4th from GCS.

Couldn't be more happier with our trade period, hats off to Son of Curl.

Woke up this morning to discover that Duursma got his move to *. Imagine wanting to leave Adelaide, and a club that finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the ladder in 3 of the last 4 years, to return home to Victoria and nominating a club that hasn’t won a final in close to 7,000 days as your club of choice. 😂

I know it's better than * but ports win rate in finals is nothing to write home about. Maybe duursma is sick of losing finals so has decided to simply avoid them?

More important than the 600 games experience lost is the 70 odd finals games experience gained this year. This group is writing its own story and it's gonna be a hit.

Darling - would be a great fit at Melbourne or Collingwood, could bring a 2nd rounde

Liam Ryan - would slot in well for any contender, maybe even nabs you a first round pick this year. Lets say we give up our original pick 17

Kelly - he is 28, shown he can play in a good team. Gets a first rounder or early second. Lets say he goes back to Geelong for pick 8 and 25, and you send them 17.

If you are really nuts, consider throwing up Oscar Allen instead of Darling. Do Melbourne give three first rounders for him (two this year and one next)? Could you get 3x firsts plus Van Rooyen (WA boy i think)? Melbourne have to do that to try and win a flag

Suddenly you are looking at something like picks 1, 6, 8, 11, 23 and 25 plus Van Rooyen and you already have two firsts next year (so already 3x top 20 next year). Have yo give up Ryan/Allen/Kelly but necessary imo.

That's how we did it and while it took 7 years to get back to contention (via a pandemic or two) that is just what it takes. West Coast's problem (like us in 2015) isnt that they are bad. It is that they are only getting worse as Darling/Sheed/Yeo/Barass/Gaff/Kelly are all in their prime and likely to decline, and there is just nothing in the 21-23 age range coming through. They are getting WORSE from here (as we did in 2018 when Murphy/Kreuzer/Simpson/Gibbs all left or hit the wall).

Are all in exponential decline.

I am happy with this trade period - we have started to be able to trade out our fringe and cut players knowing our development program is working and most of all building our depth from within instead of topping up with other peoples saying we will fix them ..
Hollands is a great get something was not right at GC with Dew an opportunities players were given you only have to see how some players come on after he left .. He has age on his side ..

I’m open to anything Juddy but my feel is if we can get players in now the better. A pick 9 who is a gun will make a real difference in a year or two and we are in the window. Next year we will have Campo boys.

A top 10 pick now could be exactly what we need
