Freo fans: tonight hurts but at least be courteous to each other while venting.

Oppostion fans or anyone out to have a crack: don't post here. You will get banned and you will get points.

Had a laugh at the shops this morning

I don’t believe I’ve seen many people wearing Eagles merch this year.

This morning every second prick is wearing an Eagles shirt

Sadly this was the straw that broke the camels back for me

I can’t r joy the football anymore and certainly feeling extremely disappointed in the club as a whole

Full of promises every year But never fulfill those promises

I will take a break from football and will at end of year reconsider my long term membership

After 30 yrs of giving them my money I just feel I want some return on my investment

There is a reason why the club is not respected by other clubs , by the media , this game showed us why there is no respect .

After watching the replay this morning, I was actually surprised to see just how badly we got totally done by the umpiring.
The problem with this game is as Freo supporters we were mostly expecting this to be an easy win (FWIW I did not), so when we find ourselves 7 goals to zip behind in the second quarter it is normal to feel extremely dirty/frustrated/disappointed in Freo. After all, as Freo supporters we have a long history of this type of thing happening to us when we get our hopes up.

While this will sound like I am making excuses and blaming the umpiring, that is not entirely true. I believe Freo were flat after the Adelaide trip and this is supported by our lowest total kms stats (AFL Tracker) for 2024. We also made many mistakes that cost us dearly (eg. Banfield misses, Reid's high FK with 3 seconds to go in Q1, etc...). And so many things other than the umpiring also went well for West Coast (eg. Amiss early concussion, quick kicks out of congestion finding forwards, etc...).

But all said and done, after watching the replay, with no other changes but fair umpiring, I am convinced Freo win that game.

At work this week when copping the West Coast supporters trolling, will I carry on about the umpiring as excuses for Freo getting beaten, No, I will talk about the other reasons that contributed, but in the safety of this Freo forum, the umpiring in the Slime's favor should be acknowledged.

I see a few West Coast fans reacted to some of my posts with laughs and whatnots. Fair enough - I got nothing but egg on my face for making silly predictions and being left with humble pie. Can't run or hide from it, you stick your neck out and make bold predictions with this club, you open yourself up to get scorched and I'm not surprised really. Felt for a while we were too safe in our defensive beliefs and not enough emphasis for attacking or addressing the balance. But as per past experience, you fool yourself into believing this club is making strides forward when it just isn't. Didn't think it would get THAT bad so quickly, but here we are. Not getting talent into our forward line when we've had higher draft picks is really burning the club right now. Can say what you want with hindsight, and it's easy to be critical from the ivory tower of my home on a computer screen - should have done this, should have done that - like maybe select Van Rooyen instead of Erasmus at #10 in that draft - but not really sure it matters, in the end (sounds like a Linkin Park song). Fremantle Football Club just doesn't seem to know the way to get it done, it lacks ruthless ambition and aggression, too many safe options, safe and nice Yes Men coaches; players clustered together to form a compact defensively 'elite' unit, but can't score for toffee.....so what happens when you take away their major strengths, contest work and defending, you get last night. I think Justin is just literally OBSESSED with being defensive. Almost to the point where he sees nothing else.

Kudos to West Coast, they used their recently found mojo as monster-momentum; they got to work - they ripped the heart out and did so with the ruthless manner they're renowned for. Fremantle once again left reeling in their shadow. Pretty sickening, but that's sport...you're either a bunny or a bunny boiler. This club has been treading water for so long now, it doesn't seem to know any other way. In the end you just have to concede in a small, 18 team competition we're just not good enough, minnow in a big fish pond.

Pretty sad, but there it is. The club's dire performance (what I saw of it was at work) and the loss of confidence that now creates leaves major doubts and holes going forward, all that good work of the first 3 weeks (maybe even include the previous 2 losses where we were at least competitive....) undone. Severely undone.

It means that Bulldogs and others see what WC did and know what to do to take us apart. Justin had no answer, as they mauled us and we were not depleted in the sense the Tigers were, or even trajectory wise on the same level. Yes, missing Switta and Freddy, playing an underdone Darcy (no choice really) but not sure they'd have made much difference last night, everything was off like old meat in a bin. Take out the garbage, because that's what we saw. Horrific, soul-destroying and energy sapping. Time to find myself re-immersed in my other hobbies because what's the point if it brings you minimal joy or happiness?!

Sad to say, but made a pact with myself this morning. I'll continue to follow the club, but from afar, highly 'uninvested' like I became with United, but sport you know? I enjoy it (mostly) but it's just not the be all and end all, if it doesn't bring happiness or elation, what's the point? To go through the motions then convince yourself everything's okay with the next 'nice' win?! I won't watch the games now, if the Dockers win - well cool there's something to watch maybe, but I doubt this club will ever be good enough and that's just how it is. If this makes me 'fairweather' or not a true supporter whatever, fine. I'll wear it. Yadadada, stick it up you snot-strils.

It was ruthless ONCE when Rosich hatched a plan and it almost worked, but since then it's reverted back to default mode. Factory setting, which is as boring with this club as it is in anything. Hard to see a road with optimism as a sign on it, because this list will age with each season and if it's not playing finals this year (or even each progressive year), well - you'd better HOPE and pray it's making at least a prelim by 2025 to satiate fans, because it's another nice little (longggggg) rebuild after that if Andy and co get to late 20s/early 30s and there's still no flag. That's if they're still there.

Hello darkness my old friend.........
F me that's a massive wall of text.

Williamson was a big in for them. He lifted for the team he supports.

Cost us about 3 goals

I wanted to know what happened to Amiss so found this https://thewest.com.au/sport/freman...ource=facebook.com&utm_campaign=the-west-news

Everything else aside isn't that front on contact in a marking contest? Barass just straight up pushed him over, and into Gov, from front on while Amiss is trying to mark the ball.

Seem it set the tone for the rest of the game, players bullied and bashed all around the ground.
Yep it was an ambush, and we just thought we would turn up and take the points.
Unfortunately we are slow and a soft underb

Was that Hilter youth guy officiating?
Margett’s live child is a blatant cheat.

Exactly !
Hardly won a centre bounce all game yet Jlo did not mention this in his presser. Contest, contest, contest, what exactly does that s**t mean?
If you are getting smashed every centre bounce then you make changes, to personnel or positioning or strategy or whatever!
Not Jlo, just sits there all day watching it.

I saw Darcy and Serong having words behind the play. I could see that Serong wasn't happy with Darcy's taps from the hand signals he gave Darcy.

JLo is correct about the contest work. It was in all aspects of play that the Eagles beat us: Inside and outside play. Our mids just didn't work hard enough and looked scared. At times it reminded me of the North game earlier in the year, which took Brayshaw and Jacko to put the team on their back.

The team just doesn't have that ruthless edge about them, and I still see too many players who are not there for a flag.

You are dead set dreaming

There is so much wrong with this squad I don’t even know where to start

Midfielders
don’t know how to hit a target makes it hard for the fwds and when they do hit a target the fwds drop the mark and make it hard the only fwd I have confidence in is treacey and I don’t know if that’s a good thing?

Ras I’m calling it early he’s an absolute bust the next Tom swift should be delisted end of his contract

MJ I see the potential and see glimpses just not sure yet

JOM I could write an essay on how bad he is but I’ll just leave it at that

Bring back Brodie who cares if he can’t defend we looked the best in 2022 with him in the team

This midfield is also the worst at scoring so we have what 3 goals as a midfield for the whole year? Absolutely embarrassing

The fwds
banfield kicking points and they go down the end and score a goal believe it was a 44 point swing from his behinds last night he’s a horrible fwd but a decent winger

Walters just give it up mate 75% of his touches have been from freekicks the last 3 weeks

Sturt just delist

Emmett gone away from his 2023 form needs to find it back

Defenders

Draper not ready but has to play doing the best he can so gets A pass

Hughes somehow worse then JOM should be playing C4 ressies in the ammos

Walker was shit in 2022 shit last year and surprise surprise shit this year get him out

Definitely need better skills and pace in the team get Chappy worner and Wagner in there asap

That’s probably one of the most embarrassing losses I’ve ever seen in my life and changes need to be made next week if there isn’t I’ve lost all faith in JL and he’s just another Stewie dew

After this game if I stick around on this website I'm going to stick to this board, not worth the embarrassment going anywhere else.

It’s pretty damming that at his age and experience Fyfe has more edge and grunt than all of the current crop.
Jackson, Serong and Brayshaw are so passive.

Having only beaten teams who are also struggling out 3 wins can’t be held up as a sign of optimism . As with the last 30 yrs we can just dream of next year as this one truly feels over .
We can blame umpires . The fixture draw and other things but basically as a club we are nowhere near a top 8 team and maybe more like a bottom 4 .
Yes I am broken and feeling very disappointed with my team, the players , the coach , the CEO . The whole club don’t seem to care about the fans , they just see it a a business and as long a they making money they care about little else . Well I for one will buy no more merchandise until they earn my respect back

At least the early years while we lost a lot were always fun to watch as their style of play was exciting . They didn’t have the best players but they tried . Gerald Neesham was a coach before his time with a team that was never going to be champions . But I loved watching them on TV and live at Subiaco and the WACA . Now they have better players , paid an absolute fortune to be professional but they make many more errors than the umpires and yet so many are able to forgive the team and blame umpires for our losses . Umpires make mistakes yes ? But the team needs to reduce the mistakes they make and make their fans proud to support them and their efforts . Presently we have too few trying, yea swing the axe , bring in young ones who want to try , I would rather lose and see development than the atrocious efforts this year . 3 wins against sides that are also struggling . Imagine how we will look against the top teams .

Only the team and the coach can turn this around

What clearance dominance ? Fremantle actually controlled and dominated clearances in the first 10-15 minutes for no goals.

Yeah Serong was massive in the first, Brayshaw good also. That 20 minute period just highlighted how ****ed the forward line and our goalkicking ability is.

No one wants to kick a ****ing goal.

The umpiring was dodgy no doubt, but coming out of "the hub" often leaves teams a bit flat. Let alone against a team that's had the luxury of being ensconced at home for two weeks in a row. That was the decisive thing for me.

Given those unique conditions, I'll be holding off pushing the panic button based on last night's debacle.
