Well...that's mostly relief in the end.

Even 1st quarter, great 2nd quarter, diabolical 3rd quarter and on paper a good finish, with the caveat that West Coast had no bench and were exhausted witches hats.

I'm happy that they actually forced the issue and piled on the goals late though, especially because that's something this team has struggled with historically. GWS v Adelaide showed that it's sometimes not a sure thing that the numbers advantage = easy win. In saying that...the midfield still got outcompeted at times and that was against a side missing Shuey for 75% of the game. Mid-forward link up was better but against completely vanished in the 3rd term fadeout. I'm glad there seemed to be a concerted effort to open the game up more often than not but it was still painful at times.

The biggest positive, aside from giving them a decent hiding, will be if the team can use that last quarter (again pointing to the caveats for any Eagles whingers peaking over the fence) as momentum to play better football going into the next month. We'll see I guess.

Now roll out the EAGLES WIN ROBBED BY INJURIES AND UMPIRING AND ACTS OF GOD headlines!!!

Still so much to work on but a win boosts player confidence.

Nothing we can do about the players who've left but Corey running that midfield could be worse than Anthony Rock taking over during our years of pain. Could be that they haven't adapted to his style who knows.

A Pearce struggling with captaincy but then again so did Mundy, he may transform into a strong leader of course.

Jackson and Amiss the most encouraging.. and shades of Darcy improvement. Taberner out for Treacy should be a permanent thing though.

really good game. Had everything; the absolute lot. Credit to West Coast, they were fighting with such an injury-decimation. Bad luck there, say what you want about the "enemy", it's never good to see so many players go down. But I enjoyed the fighting spirit of the players on display, especially our lads...Switta and Serong, absolutely monster games...Brayshaw still a bit scratchy but did some nice things. Darcy wicked too, much better display from him; loved Aish just scrapping in the middle for everything. Lovely little cameo from future star Johnson - some neat handball moves! Hughes, let's be fair...very solid. Loved the drive and push through the corridor and the willing to take the game on. Also what a difference the lowering of the eyes....who knew, who knew!! Also Amiss leading.....so nice!

Bit worried about Henry. Has all that talent but lacks game awareness, could have been costly with some of his actions. Be in the firing line for dropping based off that.

Really happy for Jackson...that's gotta feel good. Jacko, Jaeger and Johnno (Triple J) in the gatorade shower for the first time....yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa!!! :D

EDIT: forgot abut Walters, so good to see his accuracy back. When was the last time he kicked 4?! F*** yes!!! More of it now lads, build...build BUILD BUILD! :)

Biggest positive was our goalkicking. We could be 3-0 with half decent set shots. Some key players stepping up when the game was on the line e.g. Brayshaw with the goal, freddy's back flip.

Negative is the stoppages, we dominate hitouts but get murdered on the ground. After shuey got hurt it stopped but they were still out muscling us at contests.
Not gonna win enough games if we come up against better mids.
