Can’t believe people blaming the umpires.
This is purely on us as a club and it starts at the top. Woeful drafting by a bloke who is long past his useby date, terrible coach who stupidly had his contract extended by a weak board. No onfield leadership whatsoever and a bunch of mediocre at best players. The Essendon happy clappers though will keep patting the club on the back no doubt.

You don't belong
Doesn't matter that you are right

Has had quite a few good games already and very little that were standout poor. Is also only 19 and just starting his second season.

Would love to hear your list of 19 year olds that were ripping games to shreds after 20 games?

For example, your mobs picks from the same draft didn't even get on the park in their first year. How's that for impact?

It's a matter of the massive hype not matching the impact.

People waxed lyrical last year about how great he was for a first year player, but he was also playing arguably the easiest role in footy, picking up uncontested possies on half back and not really actually defending.

Zac Fisher, Brandon Parfitt - both had excellent games on occasion. Taranto as well who went pick 2.
Zac Fisher has had two good games in his career. Looks good but I hardly think the bombers will be upset they took McGrath ahead of him at this point.

Parfitt is putting together a nice season but struggled to get above 12 touches in his first season. Taranto similarly putting together a nice season so far. Both are in teams that are performing significantly better than Essendon at the moment.

The season is 5 games young, you're going a little early and reactionary to a few kids having a good start to the year.

Personally I don't even rate McGrath that highly but to be mouthing off about his lack of impact is more of a reflection on yourself and your lack of perspective than him as a player right now..

I agree, and don't even rate McGrath too highly, particularly for a #1 pick.

But the post I quoted basically said he is shit, which he is not (and if he is, its too early to call it).

Has a coach received a contract extension and been fired in the same season?
Hope so. Myself and a lot of others have boycotted this week and it will be be far worse next weekend. Expect some woeful crowds coming off as supporters become disconnected
