Feral atmosphere lol. Port games have been utterly devoid of passion for years. The only time we arc up is to get angry at the umpires. The rest is golf claps because they are bored out of their mind.

I dont care i love it not giving in never tear us apart woohoo!
I hate this. The only emotion I have for the game these days is anger at umpiring. Wtf do I bother?

Because then who would act surprised when we pick jed mcentee at the draft and exclaim "ya jokin can't believe he didn't go higher"

The 'atmosphere' comment led me to searching back through the forum to see if I could get a gauge on when the atmosphere really turned to shit.

I mean we all know 2013 and into 2014 the atmosphere was palpable. I miss that intensely! However in 2015 and 2016, despite the slide I don't remember it being completely dead, even if clearly dropping away in 2016.

What I've found from my search is that it looks like early in 2018 the last straws had started to break the camels back, the arms were folded at games and the crowd was a shell of that excited and intimidating 2013/2014 atmosphere.

So here we are 6-7 full seasons later, still in this rut. Far out I miss being excited for my club/team.

I am numb everytime we play now , this isn't healthy. I genuinely don't get excited at all for any game and this won't change til the current coaching group is gone. We'll win because our game plan is designed to beat up on sides of this quality. If we lose it also wouldn't surprise nor bother me.

2018 it was for for me. McGovern after the siren goal, Jenkins poster showdown loss, Dixon timed out at the cattery (theres no doubt more I have blocked out).

This is after 2017 where we absolutely flat tracked our way to 5th on the way to the disgraceful Elim final loss + Hinkley re-signing urgh

Even though Jones was woeful, sort of expected he gets another shot. He was in the right position but he stuffed it. I assume they don’t completely want to destroy his confidence and backing him in one more time.

Mitch for Evans is still a win, Evans is slow with minimal impact, Mitch is faster, more dynamic so it’s an upgrade. I’m not expecting him to be the go to forward over Todd and Charlie too much however, so high output numbers shouldn’t be expected. Mark of the year contender however, likely I can feel it.

JHF I suspect will have a huge game with no Wines, I could see him destroying the midfield and up forward.

For the love of god, please get the forwards to lead. If the Bummers flood our midfield zone like Melbourne don’t be afraid to go wider.

That’s it

P.S
Umpires don’t mess with the game!

My main reason for watching this game tonight is to have a notepad that is marked with:

Inside 50 +
and
Inside 50 -

Don't have to be a rocket doctor to understand why.
Don't have Kayo or 7+ to rely on, so will doing this live into my faux footy budget like the old days.

And of course will have the sound muted and Timmy and Tredders on the trans at the same time.

Will try very hard not to nap while I do this, so no juju juice.

The last time I felt that type of passion at a game was probably 2020 QF Geelong game, I thought we'd broken a hoodoo that night beating them and finally getting a crack at a home prelim. The Melbourne home game last year in the wet I felt some level of passion. Pretty meh most wins otherwise.

Because we cant beat anyone in the Top 4 or a contender at any point during the season or when it matters most. We feel flat because we are a flat track bully club.

Essendon +13 vs Port +7 Free kicks so far in 2024. We are currently -3 at home.

Our +ve comes from the game against Richmond, who are nearly always at the foot of the free kick differentiak ldder.

Our home crowds must really be getting up the umpires' knickers - well beyond the mere booooooing of the Camry Crows Customers. Or maybe they all hate INXS.

Bad feeling about tonight. Feels like the sort of game we’ll be 8 goals down in before we realise the game has started.
That is just the textbook what happen power.

This is the most boomer thing ive read in a while.

Your welcome kiddo.

Funny thing is I wrote t r a n n y, and it converted it to trans.
I need a boomer filter.
Was called it a tr an ny in my day.
I thought that was odd as well lol. Nice to know the filter is protecting us from such heinousness.

Will probably be at the gym when this is on lol

2 games missed in 19 years now 14 games missed in a row

Another after the siren result? It's on the cards given both games were close last week. We will keep them in it and its gonna be a 1 or 2 goal game.

Bit windy out in the western suburbs at the moment, but cloudless skies.

I know I've moved from disengaged into the 7th circle of hell because I'm chuckling at the idea of durrsma goaling after the siren.

It feels like a long way back, but it would really only take three changes.
No prizes for guessing what they are.

Being 2024 it will be a last second winner that had a the ball clearly out of bounds in the final few possessions
