We lose close games because Nicks has backed the wrong players to be leaders
Dawson has done everything physically possible the last 2 games...

Laird is awful.
Crouch has regressed to his norm.
Smith is absolutely cooked.

Yet we will weld these people on to the team for at least another year. We can’t help ourselves. Should be phasing them out by now
Yep. that's what good teams do.

But he does nothing around the ground which is required for a modern ruckman. He used to be very good at taking defensive contested marks and use his endurance to get to a lot of contest and impact them (a lot like what Jacobs provided) but now he drop marks despite getting first hand to them and does nothing when he get to contest outside of fumbling or clanger kick.

Sholl has been good since his return to the side. Shouldn't have been subbed today imo.

Crouch also has been good this year.
Crouch has been good since he came back in late last year.

I'm not a fan but I will give him credit, Sholl has been okay but he's no the prototype of the type of player you want to take in to a high pressure final. Zero physical presence.

4 of those kicks hit low flying planes.

Must...

aah... bugger it!

We had them on toast in that last quarter until we got in front.

With a minute to go in the 1st and scores level, I knew we’d give up a goal before the quarter was out and then give up the 1st goal of the 2nd.

It is predictable. We simply can’t get in front and control a game. We can stay in it. But we usually don’t win.

We must make a big play for a ruckman to replace O’Brien. Maybe English?

Rankine and Dawson were again fantastic. I liked Hamill and Hinge down back. Keays did a great job when switched to Pendlebury.

Sholl was awful. After a few weeks of really good footy, I thought it would be a good tussle with Josh Daicos. It wasn’t.

Keane going to ground and De Goey marking and goaling to win the game for Collingwood was symbolic. As was Rankine being called for running too far as we desperately tried to go forward one more time to win the game in the dying moments. What an absolute rubbish call that was.

Tex looked like he injured his hip early - couldn’t move much. Rankine hammy in that last play or just cramp?

So frustrating on the back of a draw. Must now win all 4 games leading to the bye or it’s time to prepare for 2025.

Ok, sitting next to the AFC Chairman on the flight back in Business.

He is currently reviewing the Memorandum for the developer of Thebarton. Three on the panel, one is Commercial and General.
Did you ask him wtf did they rush to extend Nicks?

Hamill did a great job on the dangerous Hill...
He was fine on Hill, Michalanney also had Hill plenty of the time so it was more a dual lockdown effort. Hamill has been ok when called upon this year it is just he’s played 40 games, has had those concussion issues, has already been delisted and is sitting on the rookie list, what is the long term plan for him? Is he going to stay on the rookie list? Is he going to continue to get games ahead of those on the main list? Or is he going to be promoted or delisted again at season’s end? There’s far too many questions over his continual selection.

Given how many players we should delist, we should keep Hamill if he doesn't have any more concussion issues.

He probably needs 1 more gun in the team to help him out.

And our worst 2 players to be marginally better.
Hence why now we need to play more talented younger players & not the ordinary players with little upside... given we won't be playing finals.

Nicks getting that contract extension has killed us, he’s not taking the risks to win games and play the young players anymore.
Insanity is picking the same players that let you down and continue to pick them. Surely it’s time for Dowling, Taylor and Ryan to come in. Surely Nicks sees that Smith is done and Laird is really poor. blight would come in and drop them all.
In a side now, next pre season I think they should train on skills skills and more skills.
Nicks has to stop this shit and get aggressive with the group if he wants to survive.

Hitouts to advantage are not all created equal. Gawn can palm it directly to a mid on the run whereas ROB just oafishly swats it to the feet of our mids.

Good
Rankine
Soligo
Captain
Butts
Crouch
Hamill

Not Bad
Rochelle
Fog
Nankervis

Awful
Walker- an absolute liability if not marking the ball on lead and seems to have lost confidence in his leg

Jones - has speed and toughness but is a headless chook ala Van Berlo during his career. Does not use speed and doesn't make the ball and creating play his priority but man watches too much.

Stop chasing jumpers Adelaide, make the ball and attacking your priority and make the other teams worry about chasing you

Rankine easily our best today.
Our back five stood up well again, especially Hinge in the last quarter, love that left foot of his when he’s firing. MM is just so consistent, easily a 200+ gamer with very few bad games.
Smith had his best game for the season which wasn’t really hard and honestly for an experienced player was way below standard still.

Nankervis had a great game, really liking what this lad produces. He needs to stay in.

Cook is slowly getting into it, he also needs to stay in.

Dawson started impacting when moved back to the midfield. Not sure why you would have him start forward when you need to win the ball in the centre first. He has a fantastic mark on him. Truly an all round great footballer.

Everyone knows my thoughts on Laird and I haven’t seen anything this season to change them.

Keays is being found out again that unless the ball is spoon fed to him in the goal square he can’t kick goals. One of his few straight kicks today was off his right foot, fancy that… Even his tagging was average, he couldn’t help himself and went ball chasing instead of closely checking Pendles. And Pendles made him pay for it as well. The most selfish player in the side.

Jones does not have the footy iq needed at this level. He’s played over 80 games now, more than enough time for him to show what he has.

Rob needs to go. Too many weeks he’s been hopeless. It doesn’t matter if his replacement doesn’t win the taps at least they will offer something around the ground and it sends a message to Rob to get his shit together.

Sholl being subbed off is another sub fail by the brains trust.

Do we really have to wait another two years until the needed changes are made ? 😟

Tell him to sack Nicks...

Just on ROB... in the third quarter... we were winning centre clearances and clearances.. by a lot. Was he any part of that?
Himmelberg Rucked a bit in Q3.

I genuinely thought they were going to sub RoB as Hberg was Rucking and we were going ok in the middle and stoppages.

Another example of why this game is hard to quantify.

If you removed stats, no one would rate RoB in the top 10 Rucks in the league.

Not just at bounces, but around the ground as well.

Not enough love for Max's game, just so damn composed and very rarely gets beaten one on one
Does it every game, we just take it for granted...
