It’s intentional, high, severe …. straight to the tribunal. You can’t actually get much worse than that act. Run past the ball and knock a defenceless player unconscious before he hits the ground. It was out of character for Stewart, but he’s getting more than 3 x weeks, as he should.

Scott presser alluded to a chat he had with Stewart. He knows he's stuffed up and let the team down.

It did sound like Scott may be querying intent, but the rest is spot on.

I don’t have a problem with what I ‘guess’ was Stewart’s initial intent.

He’s a straight line runner, and sums up where the ball is going brilliantly. So he targeted Prestia. For a block, a smother, a tackle? Who knows.

But the moment that ball went passed him he should have bailed out.
And then it got worse when he completely screwed the bump.

Has to be 4 or 5 surely.
Prestia didn’t have the ball and was wide open. Players shouldn’t be expected to cop that when the ball has gone.

Even from a Geelong supporters standpoint, I feel the same way. We won over an hour ago and I still don’t feel an ounce of happiness over what was arguably Chris Scott’s best win as coach excluding the 2011 grand final.

We didn’t lose I know but the thing is I can handle losing. What pissed me off tonight was the fact that we play these ‘home’ games away to a genuine home team when we’d have belted them at home. Football is no good for my mental health at this point because we are so badly disadvantaged. The only team in world sport. This sport means a lot to me and my interest has never waned yet I’m finding myself wondering whether to walk away entirely.

I don’t know how much longer I can do this because it’s bringing me down (factoring in with more important real life issues) to the point where I want to ring Lifeline.

Mate....go and sit down with someone and talk it out. You won't believe how much better things look when you take the time to get things off your chest.

Exactly

So you’re saying it’s as bad as the Gaff punch on a teenager? I disagree he will get time off but not that much throw in a guilty plea which should help and the max I can see is 3 weeks

He’ll get 4-6 no doubt at all. Ran past the footy and hit him with an elbow.
If Lynch had done that to say, Selwood, Cats fans would be demanding 5-6 minimum
Selwood would've shrugged it off.

Kolo out, I'd keep O'Connor but keep him away from the last line of defence please.

I’d be tempted to bring Rohan in to play back. He’s been no good forward in finals. Playing a more straight ahead game might be his go.

The frustration is that Kolo actually kept Riewoldt goalless. Yet, with ball in hand he’s a liability. O’Connor was carved up by an excellent player but was a bit better when he had the pill.

Naaawww tigerfan1961 are you still carrying on about that late bump? 2-3 weeks and you’ll be back here in a few days to melt all over again

Take away your emotions and you’ll see the logic
Like I said, if that happened to Selwood and we won the game, you guys would be livid too.
What he did was a perfect example of why a send off rule should be brought in. You guys benefitted from what happened. Took out our best mid, and the guy who did it was by far your best player.

6 weeks for what Stewart did is just pure hysteria. Gaff punched a guy in the face off the ball and got 8 weeks. How can you possibly justify giving Stewart a penalty of almost the same length for an indiscretion that's nowhere near as egregious?

4 weeks is about right.

I reckon he’ll get 2-3 max.

Dry those eyes your emotion doesn’t come into the ruiling …he will get 3 weeks and your tantrums won’t change it one little bit

Go and cry into your pillow

I just don’t think Geelong can carry a player like Menegola. He is so ******* slow it’s like he is standing still. If he was an in and under beast like Selwood maybe you could but he’s also ******* soft.
I don't think he is soft but he is slow of body and mind. Made two dreadful errors in 3rd quarter. He is still best 22.

2nd week back it’ll take a few weeks to get back into it I’m more concerned that the Rucks went missing for over a qtr and Duncan didn’t have as much impact as usual

Melbourne are getting extremely lucky with regards to Stewart. His absence through suspension with make it three games within the space of 12 months that they'll have played us without him in our side. Kind of sucks that we keep facing the #1 seed without (arguably) our best player.

Far out, you have to be some special kind of sad loser to go to an opposition board on an internet footy forum after a close loss to sook, abuse and moan... Like Ffs, just amazingly pathetic stuff from some unwashed Yellow and Black folks tonight

It’s the one after the next one he better be there for.

If you drop Kolo and/or Merrick, who comes in? Henry back to defence to replace Stewart, and Rohan in to replace Henry up forward, are the obvious changes.

Not that I think either should be dropped.

But the only other possible change that could be made is Kolo out, Blitz to defence, and one of Neale and Conway into the ruck. Don't see it happening.

Right. We don't go over the Richmond board to gloat.

Great game, lots of positives and negatives. Actually loved Stewart’s bump on meatball and the general early attack on ball and player. We need that aggression over 4 quarters if we want to win the flag. Still some upside with danger to come back and Hawkins won’t play like that again.
I really hope the MC can be brave and leave Kolo out he’s had enough chances that he needs to take the punishment for a poor performance. He consistently costs us goals. I’d also leave O’Connor out but I’m not sure what options there are to replace him.
The only extra defender we have is Stevens and he has just come back from injury in the VFL. The extra defenders are Henry (will go back there when Rohan is fit) and Blicavs we are a much better side with him on the wing and taking a turn in the ruck drifting forward at times.
