Killed it in the vfl last week. Will be back in soon i suspect.
Would be suprised if he didnt play on Friday. as sun or in 22. back to back 6 day breaks with travel surely is the time to actually manages some midfielders and bring in someone fresh (Bruhn and Simpson had this week off). Remembering that vfl has bye this week too

The disposal wasn't great, but I was even more surprised by some of his fumbling - never seemed to completely regain his best touch after breaking his thumb a couple of times.

I won't give up on him yet, a couple of years ago he looked to be close to our most promising player.

At his best he's shown some real defensive grit and at one point he had just about the best side-step in the biz. Been a while since we've seen that, but 2023 is still young and he has time to find confidence and form.
Looks like a player making mistakes because he's frightened of making a mistake,no flow or freedom in his game.

I don't think Dempsey gets Stengles spot, Rohan and Ollie just both play.
It's not the same kind of replacement but it's still a super potent forwardline so they'll rejig the structure.
For Dempsey to get in 1 of those 2 have to miss out IMO, and they won't.
Another option would be to play Tuohy forward and play Dempsey on a wing.

Midfield depth has never been a strong point of this side, it has gotten even worse with Parfitt and Guthrie's slumps, and boy did it show in the third. Just as Atkins' emergence changed the dynamic last year, I think they have to start looking to new options - be it giving Bowes an extended run on the ball, putting Bruhn at stoppages almost permanently, or something even more radical.

I was thinking Dempsey might be a good option for next week with Stengle out. He can sneak a goal and can run very good. Dempsey and Holmes on the wings might very well be our future.

Forgot about the vfl bye. Makes it more likely someone like bruhn or simpson gets a game and an older player is rested, so they dont have 2 weeks with no footy.

Re Parfitt
I've read similar sprays about Kolo, Sav, Miers, and others.
Parfitt has not lost skill.
Simply form, CONFIDENCE, and momentum.
He will redeem himself.
Anger on these threads directed at a single player as if he is the only culprit is LAME.
Nobody was miffed when he was subbed on in the GF, and scored a goal and had more possessions than Buddy or Heeney
Easy to rack up possessions when subbed on when everything is going right and the opposition is cooked, people are going to tell it like it is on an open forum, hes been woeful this year.

Cats did what they needed to do.
Went up a gear and won game.
2nd half saw Cats in management mode
Entire team taking the foot off the pedal.
Expect Top Gear Surge periods to increase
As team fitness and cohesion improves

Big Sav continued to cement his spot in the team
Marking confidence and knowledge gained will help
Should he be required to go forward for a spell.
Great to see Holmes Miers Close continue to improve.
O'Henry and Bowes have settled onto the team well.

Stengle wrist injury gave Parfitt his chance
His only highlight was a creative pass to Tommy
He tried hard but was well off the game pace.
A malady suffered due an extended absence.
Regular AFL game time is the only cure.
He deserves to have first dibs... but not for long.

Shows how much a player's confidence can affect performance. He knows that he is under increased pressure for his position and has not responded well.
IMHO he got an armchair ride in his early days and was coming on, albeit slowly, but now the blowtorch is on the belly.

Was at the game today, pretty average game but good to get the win. On Parfitt, he was absolutely terrible and I doubt we’ll see him in the team for a while. Time to give someone who actually wants to play a turn.

I agree... it’s certainly hard to make a case that his form warrants a position in the team... and even as sub as he has come on twice as sub and looked like a good ordinary GFL level player.

Has actually had not looked good one time this year.

Not in the practice matches, not when he has been sub, not when he was starting in the AFL and not in the VFL.

Something is up with him bigtime and unless they are resting guys next week... he can’t be in the side unless when are rolling with blind faith in him.

Chanel 7 said Stengle will be 4-6 weeks

I don't think I saw Stanley singing the song either?

As mentioned earlier I didn't get to see much of today's match, but I did notice late in the game that Stanley was on all fours & in the hands of the trainers

They then came from the ground & while it seemed initially they were going to the bench, footage then showed what seemed liked they were heading the rooms when the siren sounded, but they looked uncertain whether to go to the rooms or go through the normal post siren routine
