Thoughts and prayers for Jezza

A good win. I liked what I saw. Bombers have a long way to go yet. Cat's are contenders again. Round 1 usually means nothing by round 22. So take the win and percentage and move on.
You’re saying that after round 1 against witches hats?

The issue for the season will be man management. We are usually cooked by about round 18, so resting the old blokes will be key to actually have any chance later in the year. Will they learn that lesson though.

What happened to sdk?

66 point win. It's a nice start.
If the opposition get 2000 points over the home and away season, that 66 points is worth 3.3% to our final percentage.
If the opposition only get 1500 points (68 points a game), that 66 points is worth 4.4%.

That's why I love it when we bury teams, but I understand why the coaching team will ice some players early if we're well up.

Hard too read too much into this, Essendon didn't have much in them, they didn't put the game into a phase that would challenge us. We'll live and die this year based on our inside mids. On the few time they tried they got us on a quick counter, rules favour it not much we can do, its up to Henry and Stewart to cover two leads at once. We got away with it more times then then we would against a better team.

For the obvious gameplan changes, early it looks like after an opposition turnover in the defensive half we'd do a quick short kick just to move the axis of the play to weaken any defensive zone. A couple of years back we did a similar thing but a lot slower. We were happy to move it quick through the middle with short possession chains. Hard to say if that was by design or if Essendon were shit enough to leave a gap to exploit.

On player thoughts

Looks like Dalhlaus has an extra 10 meters in his kick this year.
Danger back to his best but he needs to dial it down a couple of notches especially if we're up by 60.
Holmes hands during possession chains stood out to me.

With Stengle and Cameron our forward line seems to be complete, we haven't been this structurally sounds for a decade. Only gap I can see is repeat sprints.

I think what Geelong showed in the first half when the game was hot was very impressive. After half time the Cats cruised some and in the last quarter stopped trying altogether. But if you look at the first half in isolation, they were good.

Don’t we just love the random ‘f@#k I hate Geelong’ posts by Hawthorn supporters 😄

The lesser of two evils for me today. Could watch that all over again. Safe trip home to those that travelled.

I've read a few comments during and after the match saying that Essendon wasn't much competition today

But if we are to believe Mick Malthouse, they're premiership favs - from late last month

Mick malthouse is also a freaking moron.

About as laughable as caro saying the tigers will win the flag.

When you have a page to fill, 200 people writing on the same subject matter and you have to be unique while there being no consequence for getting it wrong this happens

Anyone know what happened to sdk? Not listed in the injuries 🤔
Looked like concussion

Apparently took a knock to the head, went down to the rooms and was pretty disappointed when he returned to the bench a little while later

There was no apparent limp or noticeable injury

Can the absolute footy nuffies (you know who you are) who have been trashing Parfit shut up for at least a month now. Just keep the traps shut for a while unless you have some legitimate evidence (and that means more than just quoting numbers) and stop embarrassing yourself with you trashing of BP. It's worrying the lack of footy knowledge it shows. Anyway rant over and haters stay away at least for a little while on this guy please because he making you look stupid!
