Menegola Bews and Stewart have been our 3 most improved players this year by a mile, credit to all 3 as they have had to fight very hard to get a spot in the team. We need these middle tier guys to stand up to support guys like danger hawkins selwood duncan etc as you know what you will get from these guys in finals, if our second and third tiers can stand up over the heat of the next month i think we can win the flag.
Don't forget Smith!!! He has been massive past month.

That's as satisfying a win as I can remember (home & away). Just dominated a team that is supposed to dominate the competition.

We are seriously witnessing Danger play football at the highest level an individual can play at.

For a team that finished 2nd, and with Danger at his peak, it just feels like he needs to be a premiership player.

Get up Cats!!!

Sensational win but geez GWS play some extremely dumb football. How often did they break forward with numbers and then kick long into 50 to outnumbered forwards (or no one at all), rather than carrying the ball or handballing laterally? Exactly the same as the last game.

That said pretty encouraging to see the second tier all play well. Most of us have been pretty critical (to some degree) of our ability to develop players/get value out of the back end of the draft but the dramatic improvement in Bews' game and the steady improvement of Menegola and Murdoch is pretty encouraging. Hopefully they stitch it all together in a final.

Not sure if you're referring to me. I didn't catch the Collingwood game. I meant the response to the tough assignments against Adelaide and Sydney coupled with multiple injuries/suspensions/generally bad form. Not to last week.

No not at all. More just the general thing about some sports fans. Team loses one week: They're no good, why do such and such play. Team win next week: Oh I always knew we were a great team. Here we go a real chance for a tilt at the Title/Premiership/Ring/Super Bowl.

I maybe exaggerating. Though that's the general gist. Not having a crack at you mate. I just think it's healthy to have a consistent perspective on things.

Noticed Gogeelong was conspicuous by his/her absence after half time in the gameday thread after requesting we trade Hawkins off for a 3rd round draft pick in the first half.

I had heard rumours that Taylor might go at the end of the year. Something about his back.

He is in the last year of a 5 year backended contract next year i really can't see either him or the club parting ways with each other early. But anyway lets focus on winning the flag over the next 6 weeks and worry about the rest after that.

Can somebody let us know if Mackie and Lonergan are retiring?

They are not going to announce it now they will want the focus on finals (both players and coaches). Just treat every game you get to watch them play from now on as their last and if they play on next year it's a bonus.

buzza had 5 touches and gave away four frees. one net touch. easily worst on ground from both sides.
Stevie J says hi.

ofcourse he does. probably more then any other. but there are plenty who have input.

He is not in charge of contracts or list management like coaches at all well run clubs he has very limited input into signing decisions. He gets an opinion and that's it-it's wells who makes the majority of those decisions so i am not sure what biggy is jumping to conclusions for.

Yeah I agree with that. Our season really would've been on the brink if we couldn't get past Richmond and GWS though. Two superb performances, and grinding out a win after being jumped by our bogey side - that little block definitely gives me more optimism. With the skipper to return. Guys who have been out like Hawkins, Menzel and Motlop looked sharp tonight and half of our scoring potential comes from those three alone. I never pretend to know what will happen though. Just enjoying the ride as much as possible, because there is a hell of a lot to like about this team.

They just said in an interview they are both retiring. No fuss -all about the team and the next month.
