Couldn't have asked for much more than that. Great pressure the whole game, strong start, minimal injuries and a big win against a GF aspirant. Solid.
Just need to slot the **** and selwood in now.
Danger amazing as usual. Smith destroyed mummy. Stewart's best game so far. Motlop played well. generally excellent win.

Note that afl.com.au has announced that Geelong has secured a Victorian final!!!

What a ******* farce if its GWS and not at KP.

If Richmond don't get a home final it'll be at the MCG. All the series ticket holders wouldn't get in down here.

That was a pleasure to watch. Sammy Menegola (that's Men-E-Gola, Darcy) take a bow. Has been a star for us this year. Even when he's having an off night he never disappears like some can. Great to see him kicking straight and getting some reward in front of goal.

Thought our defence were great as a unit. Lovely to see Bews go on some scinitilating runs.

Hawkins was great. Buzza presented but let himself down with set shots. Should have ended up with 3 goals. At least he offers up forward pressure which is more than Stanley does.

Zac Smith was very good again in the ruck. Scooter and Murda offered great pressure and Dangerfield, as usual, was a beast.

Now to see if we can replicate that in finals. If we play GWS again, it better be at Kardinia. If it's Richmond at the G, then we have to make a statement and beat them on their home deck while their fans inevitably outnumber ours at our 'home' final.

Great finish for the season. Very tough, accountable and typical September football has come early. Fantastic.

Many contributors tonight.

Smith nor Hopper excited me.

Very good chance we'll get the Tigers at the G in the QF... Our usual whipping boy team.

If not, I have no problems with us facing GWS at the Cattery either in the QF.

dazbroncos the coach doesn't want to sign Menzel because he doesn't provide pressure like Smith, right? That's what I'm saying.

Scott took exception to that fallacy during his press conference....said that had never been spoken of privately or publicly and people should not assume what he is thinking.

good win although gws clearly werent tryign in that second half.

loved:
the fast handball in the first half
hawkins leading up the ground.
duncan great as usual
the ongoing rise of menagola
murdoch and guthries second halves.
menzels classy passes set up numerous shits on goal.
Parfit. classy with ball. just wish he could kick it.

dislike
lost the hitouts convincingly again. smith needs help.

kolos game. kolo very little of the ball and when he did get it had numerous horrendous turnovers. worry that he is going to be a massive liability in finals.

Buzza: barely touched it. only 5 touches and one from a dodgy free. has given away 7 frees in his past two games now. gave away four tonight giving him a net return of one kick for the game. also offers nothing in the ruck.

Parsons injury.

Clearly put. And id agree with you that if that is the case, its 100% a shit call.

GO Catters

Mackie doing a lap with the fam, looks like he is done, Taylor lookie a little emotional too, I wonder if he's pulling the pin too?

Taylor is contracted but mackie and lonergan wouldn't surprise.

A/It's not only Scott who makes that call.
B/ We know nothing about Menzel's contract talk, so you aren't in a place to speculate.
C/ congrats on your pre-season prediction that Geelong would struggle to make the eight this year.

I do remember last time we played the Flag Favs in Rd 23 and spanked them....

Happy with a lot of the players who usually turn into ghosts to stand up.. Murdoch was awesome, Menegola stood up, forward line looked dangerous. Managed to stop the rot after the 2nd quarter. Now comes finals its time to prove it's not a fluke and produce that style of football on the big stage - Paddy knows how important this is. We have struggled massively in finals - lets see what we have learnt.

K-Rock was speculating that the players were told in the huddle after the game that Mackie and Lonergan had just played their last game at Simonds.

When was that? I know we beat the Pies by 96 in Round 24 2011, but can't remember beating flag favourites in Round 23 before. :p
