No idea. Maybe so the kid doesn't lose hope or confidence.

I stand by my call that he was dropped for Guthrie and that will remain until I die. He earned a recall due to the Parfitt injury and was unlucky again this week.

It's simply a case of one mid too many. Now Menegola and Guthrie are on notice and I hope the same rules are applied to them. Granted they've both been ok but they'd want to keep their form going. It's a positive more than a negative.

Chook is simply stiff. As someone else will be if Parfitt gets up.
I kind-of agree with you, in so far as that I think he was rested in order to fit Guthrie in, but with the clear intent of bringing him back the following week.

However, I think he has been omitted this time for one reason: he has already missed one week of footy and the VFL side plays before the AFL side. So, if they given Parfitt until final teams to prove his fitness, then Chook won't be able to replace him should he fail, unless Chook misses the VFL game too.

The Constable omission has shocked me to be honest. Forget about the omission alone, how he's not even on the extended bench is staggering given Parsons is there. His form hasn't warranted omission. I'm guessing he's in the same boat as Narkle and been asked to work on his tank. Menegola given more midfield minutes.

If I was a betting man looking at the Essendon side, I think Taylor might be a late out and given a rest. There's no real match-up for him.

Clark's had his rest, Guthrie won't get dropped, Miers is one of the fittest players at the club and is getting better with each game and O'Connor is needed and in form. So If Parfitt gets up someone named on the field has to be the one who makes way. I can't see any other alternative.

The Constable omission shows that we are worried about the bombers leg speed. No other reason for him not to play.
Essendon's midfield doesn't have a lot of depth so you could be right.

I have no problem with Constable out but if we were worried about that they easiest solution was to drop a KPD when we dont need them all this week anyway.

Hes not on the extended bench because he needs to play vfl for continuity not get held over as a senior emergency and play no footy.

Round Seven Team

B:
J Henry, M Blicavs, M O’Connor
HB: J Kolodjashnij, H Taylor, T Stewart
C: J Selwood, P Dangerfield, M Duncan
HF: L Dahlhaus, E Ratugolea, T Atkins
F: G Ablett, T Hawkins, G Rohan
R: R Stanley, T Kelly, C Guthrie
Int: Z Tuohy, B Parfitt, J Clark, S Menegola, D Fort, G Miers, J Parsons, Z Guthrie

IN: B Parfitt, J Clark, D Fort, J Parsons, Z Guthrie
OUT: C Constable (Omitted)

This is according to the official AFL website. 4 to be trimmed from the Int, so I am hoping that we may yet see Meners go out for Clark. Do not understand dropping chook at all.

Looking at the interchange Z Tuohy, B Parfitt, J Clark, S Menegola, G Miers should all be playing so who gets dropped from on ground hmm Taylor for a rest would be my Preference

So Constable omitted.....and doesnt even make the list of emergencies?

It's an extended bench as of now, no separate 'emergencies' until the cut tomorrow.

If he is really is omitted then he's not going to be in the 8 on the extended bench

The forward line is our best line atm so if Miers gets dropped ill scream bloody murder

Miers has been great all over the ground and has had some great link up runs on the wing. He is the most cemented out of the kids imo.

I hope so but we have had a habit of stupid changes for years now

I think that was something that came out of the review. They are looking at stability this year

Of those named on your interchange list here, all apart from Tuohy are named on the VFL website in the extended squad for Sunday.

Can't see Fort, Parso or Zuth making the final senior team. And I believe Clark (based on the coach's presser) and Miers (based on the way he's been playing) are both likely to play in the AFL. So, if the way the AFL/VFL sides have been named means anything (unlikely, I know), I think it might be down to Parf's fitness to finalise the senior line-up for Sunday (with Mena to hold on to his spot if Brandan doesn't come up).

Menegola out for Clark? Why?

If one of the more senior players is going to come out in order to give a youngster games, it's Cam Guthrie. The forever under performer.

Agree. Just how many more games are they trying to give Parsons and that other Guthrie to prove to themselves they're not good enough?

Perhaps everyone else but the club itself believes they're a chance this year. Let's just change the side up every week, flirt with form. Why not?
