Did what we needed to, not a heap you can read into it form wise against them unless we lost or won by a small margin.

Geez if we could manage Stanley so he can run out a game we are a real threat.

O Henry good game but has the yips in front of goal in the last month.

Second half last two weeks we have been defensively poor in the midfield. I'm hoping it's a case of them coasting into finals a bit, but there might be fitness issues.

Anyway, bring on September, I am excited to see how the young guys go.

Nic nat was from Perth and was playing for WC teams that were decent. He never had to play for a team with this little hope of success. He had no incentive to leave.

Fyfe is from wa and was not highly touted until a few years into the league. By the time he was good, so was freo. He had no incentive to leave.

Pavlich was not as highly rated as as Reid. He was also playing at a time when player movement was not nearly as common as it is today.

Reid looked like a super frustrated player today, playing for a shit team that is going nowhere. He can earn as much money away from wa as he can in Perth. He is not from wa. He has plenty of incentive to want to leave.

Had to win big to give ourselves a shot at top 2 and we did. Not sure we can complain too much. WC were never going to be as uncompetitive in the second half as they were in the first and we had the job done, so the preservation mode was totally understandable, especially down two men after the break.
So when we lose the 2nd half it’s because of ‘preservation mode?’ Did that twice in the last 2 weeks . We sit 1-1 with that. Hmmmm interesting.
Saints definitely better than us 2nd half last week and eagles upped their tempo too…
As long as it’s not a cats football issue than I’m happy with the ‘preservation mode’ theory
Do we use that in the QF?

Yep, Saints were better than us last week, no doubt.

Yes, the Eagles upped their tempo in the second half, which coincides with two vitally important players sitting on the bench.

No, I think we'll give it everything we have in the QF.

What will your team do??

And let's be honest about what likely happened at half-time - WCE were embarrassing in the first half and described as witches hats

There's no doubt in my mind that down in the rooms, Schofield would have read them the riot act and asking the team what they're made off - "we have one half of football left this year, how about showing some ****ing pride in the guernsey" type thing

Yes we still had things to play for, but when you also know you're playing in two weeks time, no one wants to risks an untimely injury

Not sure how many others were at the game today, but it was also a pretty flat crowd most of the game - wonder if that had bit of an impact, especially say early in the third quarter, when if the crowd was up & about a bit more, acting as more of that 19th player, that it could have maybe given bit of a lift

What an amazing Club the GFC is.
Century plus history but we’ve been an AFL powerhouse since 2007, 4 Flags with so many Finals appearances .
10 top 4 finishes in 13 years under the Master Scott class - so good.

I remember my first game at Kardinia Park as a 6 year old some 62 years ago-
I’ve been a Geelong tragic ever since.
Seen us lose 3 GF’s live and take the chocolates live in 2007, 2011 and 2022.

We are an AFL anomaly and go into yet another Finals Series with a double chance.
So proud to be an Australian and to be an avid Cats Fan.
Let’s do some damage this year✅

PS Just home from a very long lunch so post may not make much sense😜

Pav is from S.A and his team was crap.
He was offered a bucket load from Adelaide.

Geelong can not afford Reid. He isn't worth a Cameron type trade.
He will have a great career. But massive trades can set you back 5 years.

He's not coming here.

The kid is already holding his own against seasoned men. Wait until he's 22 and has good feel of what it takes at the top level.

The most prodigious talent we have seen since Franklin.

Even more direct - half you blokes don't get contract extensions under the new coach if you don't look like you're having a go

Hard to judge given the quality of opposition but tanner looks primed to break out.
I think 1 more full preseason and a year without any injuries niggles could see him elevate to a higher grade permanently.

By which i mean we would see him have great games instead of great moments or quarters.
