Do any keen Cat performance analysers have any theories about what

lots of variable to affect these figures.
need to know who we played at night, for example StKilda twice last year, so automatically brings down the average.

plus what wre the weather conditions for games etc.

need a lot more info before you see if there is any relevant trend.

Geelong's two highest scores in that period were 222 points vs Richmond at Etihad, and 182 points vs. West Coast at Subiaco. Those two scores alome will artifically bump up our average higher than what it really is. Several other high scores were achieved at the MCG, but not at night (QF 2007, GF 2007). As previously stated we do tend to play better sides in night games at the MCG. In support of this I do recall witnessing an unholy belting of Melbourne at the 'G at a night game in 2008 - 100+ point margin which reinforces the theory that our opponents tend to be better, which would contribute to our more modest scores.

I wasn't bagging him. I thought it might have been the difference in the ground or the larger crowd getting to his nerves but you would have to think the opposition would be the main factor.

But the quality of opposition wouldn't explain him shanking multiple set shots at goal when he has played at the MCG (especially last year's PF and the Monday game against Carlton following Anzac Day), shots that he would put through the middle with his eyes closed at Skilled. He's had his opportunities at the MCG, but he just hasn't converted consistently, like he does elsewhere.

I'd be more interested in average scores against St Kilda on wet/damp nights on the MCG in the first round of a season.

Those figures shown are meaningless out of context.

HP might use them tho.
