I dislike St. Kilda so I am happy with how they are going, but it's early in the season and there list is okay so it may end up being the coach!

I agree with your second point, but they just never had the currency to work with due to a failure to regenerate while they were still winning. Not many good talls in those drafts taken outside the top 15 bar Rory Lobb.

I'm not talking about trading for top 20 picks ncessarily, they just needed to churn through their 2nd string and draft some more.

They also threw away pick 5 in 2015 for Carlisle, so there's your tall (Weideman, McKay or Curnow).
