Not neccesarily, with regards to no one wanting to coach North, and FWIW Voss pulled out of the running last week for the job.

David Noble (footy ops manager at Brisbane) is now favourite for the job, and I think He would very well be a decent appointment. Has been a shrewd operator around the league for a while now..

It will be a tough couple of years for North, but there is still some really good young talent to work with there.
Voss will not touch the Norf job. He is waiting to see what happens at Carlton next season. You may see him throw his hat in the ring if it all goes pear shaped in 2021.

It will be interesting to see whether Buckley survives at Collingwood next year. Lyon waiting in the wings.

Why not simply go for the basket case already available at Norf then? Gotta be less competition for that job, than for one with a list of good youngsters like ours.

One would think he doesn't want to become the Jason McCartney, Justin Leppitsch and the Brendon Bolton to the Luke Beverage, Michael Fagan and the David Teagues of the world.

Nth will try to follow that formula, and so the next coach needs to be strong on messaging and development but is also super vulnerable if his team isn't up the ladder inside 3 seasons.

Martin getting some money back

Cut should always have been based on average yearly wage of contracts.

Changing the number of rotations won't reduce congestion

Absolutely it will, reduces player ability to get up and down the ground all game.
AFL players can’t get much fitter than they are now, not allowing them to rest will mean less and less ability for complete 2 way running which is the number 1 reason for the congestion in the game

Would be incredibly surprised, and disappointed, should Teague be in the firing line next year. Would have to be a catastrophic season for that to eventuate.

And in the event there was a huge nosedive in 2021, I can't imagine we'd be looking at Voss, or any other "up and comer". We either back Teague, or we pony up for a Clarkson type.

We just can't keep switching in a newbie senior coach every few years and hoping one will provide instant success. More important for us to support Teague with highly capable assistants and let him learn as he goes.

Mids will rest forward

Best way to eliminate congestion/increase scoring is to tweak current rules

- No nominations for ruck contests

- Unless in a contested situation, last player to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds, free against

- Change back the rules on being able to use your hands placed in the back in marking contests

If they reduce rotations without the above, they will still wait for players to get into position for stoppages

Forwards run up and back as well, it’s not just mids, congestion is 36 players within 50 metres of the ball constantly

Imagine the surprise when Jack brings SOS along for his next contract discussions

I'd read that SOS had taken over the management of both Ben and Jack after his exit from the club. I'm having trouble recalling where I had read that though.

What a cheeky proposal by Beatson -
Asking the AFL to review matters around Academy players, whereby effectively if someone bids on them, the team with the player can then choose not to match and then get the very next pick in the draft.

Did he think this through?
