Im really enjoying st kilda being punished for beating us and finishing in the 6-12 group. Comedy gold
I see that Robbo says St Kilda has been shafted and we’ve been treated like the golden children. I can’t get the archive function working from my phone, so here is the paywall version: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/...e/news-story/12c9ca56f7fc3d16ef8b14b1beb938ce

In my view, what people continue to overlook in responding to Bassatt’s attack on the father son rules is that it is one of the few places where tradition is left in our game. To lose it to the whims of someone who think it isn’t immediately helping their club is something I think would be terribly short sighted.

Absolutely this.

I look at all of these issues and look at how the club has either been benefited or not from said rule or proposed change and every single time the club having a whinge is one potentially missing out.

There's no objectivity in their arguments at all. It's all "we're not benefiting change the damn file so nobody benefits."

The only time that stance makes sense is when it's a situation like what happened earlier in the year and the AFL came out and said they were going to change the bidding rules. Rightly clubs who had already completed future moves based on the current rules (us and Richmond) got our backup (you can't change so soon but we understand why you'll do so in the future) and the AFL relented as the argument against was sensible.

For once I'd like to see a club who is on the wrong end of something (Melbourne missing Mac Andrew, for example) come out in support of the rules rather than it being "what about me?"

Agreed, and his accent s**** me to tears. Sounds so whingy!

Fake intellectual who buzzes on being the smartest person in the room. Easy in a footy media world. People I know who've met him / worked around him etc all rather dislike him
Yep, always got that impression.

I think Huddo/Whately are too similar to each other. I'll wait to hear it but I suspect it's going to sound like a 3 hour long drone with just the two of them.

Gary Lyon on 360 …puke surely they could’ve been a bit more imaginative, hardly inspiring call
More surprised they're letting Jack host On the Couch. That's a left field (and bizarre) decision.

Have never been a fan of Jack’s egotistical persona, but have to concede he has grown in to the media. As he progresses from the personal anecdote stage, I believe he is the brightest prospect as a media host and presenter. He is intelligent and insightful and is learning to take a back seat in exchanges.

I think it is crazy for On The Couch to move from the model of an old head host and two relatively recent retirees slash coaches. I like the OTC dynamic, to flip it to put the kid in the main seat doesn’t sit.

Riewoldt as a co host, foil to Whately I feel works, with a view to him potentially taking over in a few years. Feel there is some seniority or ego going in to this decision. Lyon wanting four days a week and/or talking head Whately not wanting an up and viable alternative in the mix.
