WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

Pretty poor seeing Narkle partying and dancing with Richmond players, especially after we lost the GF to them. I know he is good mates with Bolton, but nota good look and tbh I’m expecting him to actually request a trade to the tigers.

I have zero problem with it.
Game is over, season is done, do as you like.
They holiday with each other, see each other out and about etc etc...
Mates and Mateship... it's a aussie thing.
If he wants to leave for the Tigers so be it. Or where ever...
Gotta accept that some players choose us and some don't choose us.
That's life.

To me ...this the start of the end of comp ... when this happens for three players in the R1... the system will change

Jay Clark explains how Joe Daniher, Brad Crouch and Jeremy Cameron will get to their new homes
Clubs do a lot of talking tough at this time of year but it is the cards that are being passed under the table which count most. Jay Clark explains why the 2020 off-season will be the year of the sneaky side deal.

This is the year of the sneaky side deal.
Football’s annual game of poker will today begin as six clubs jostle over the futures of three star players.

Jeremy Cameron (Geelong), Brad Crouch (St Kilda) and Joe Daniher (Brisbane) have all chosen new homes to reignite their careers.

And what looms as the biggest test yet of the game’s controversial compensation system, there is already significant dispute over what the clubs should give up and receive for each of these best and fairest winners.

Interestingly, each negotiation could be nutted out differently.

But one thing is certain. The Cameron transfer stands out at as the most difficult negotiation only 12 months after his brilliant Coleman Medal season.

Jay Clark needs to shut his pie hole same with Tom Browne, blokes make all our trades out to seem like we need to sell the farm, just **** right off.

No chance we’ll trade Clark.

When he’s mentioned in the media it’s the definition of lazy journalism.
People were saying the exact same thing about Caddy years ago, and look what happened.

Difference between Caddy and Clarke is that Caddy was 24, had been in the system for a while and wasn't really a required player or even a good player whereas Clarke most definitely is required going forward and is only 20, sky is the limit for him.

My inclination is that, as with Caddy, Freo offer Clark a good deal (probably on the back of baseless media speculation which became genuine interest), he will take it

My inclination is that he is contracted for 2 more years and doesn't get to choose ;)

I suspect we hold gws hand in another way that gets them a player they want (McDonald from Melbourne).

Eg Constable to gws, pick 33 to Melbourne, McDonald to melb and a future Third from gws to us
I don't want to lose Clark. His 2019 was as good as Duncan's first season. But I am resigned to the fact if we have to trade to get Cameron we are going to lose someone we value. If Wells can do it for less, he ought to be knighted.

When we snared Ottens nobody wanted to see Brent Moloney go

We had to lose caddy coz we needed salary cap relief. We thought we’d get rid of Motlop but there were no takers.

Clark is not on a high salary and we don’t have the same TPP issues.

Clark is our best young prospect and the only reason he’s mentioned in the media is because

1. He’s from interstate
2. He’s a good player and journalists are baffled why he only played 3 games so he must have itchy feet and be frustrated
3. Said journalists too lazy to look into it and see he was injured a lot of the yr
4. Obviously WA clubs would want him, free has the better pick so yeh dockers super keen

Nothing from Clark or Geelong that he’s unhappy or wanting to leave.

I don't want to lose Clarke but one has to question whether that shoulder injury he had is going to be a problem going forward, didn't he hurt it again when he came back earlier this year?

Last I heard was a 2 year deal for Tuohy - the problem I have is that I don't know where he fits in the team

He's been pushed out of the defensive unit with Bews & O'Connor preferred for small forwards & even Kolo gets that job sometimes, and add in next year that Clark will hopefully be pushing for a spot, it makes even less spots for him.

Seems that he's almost too good to not be best 22 but they don't really know what to do with him - if we're honest, his best spot is in defence, so if there's not a role there for him, is he still best 22 going forward?

I don't necessarily want to lose Tuohy off the list as I think there's value in having him available, but I also wouldn't be in a rush to re-sign him and would wait to see what else happens
Great post

Completely agree. He needs to be moved on now.

Possible side deals with GWS (after they match and get pick 9/10):

Tuohy for a late pick
Constable for a late pick
Narkle for a late pick
Kolo for a late pick
Fort for a late pick

We give 33 for one of their depth players and take on some $

They wouldn't want any of those players apart from maybe Narkle, we also dont want any of their crap left over players for pick 33, would have to be someone decent like O'Halloran. I'd rather try include Brisbane and get Witherden somehow.

Fast forward to 2020 and he has come full circle... not required or even good at Richmond.
