It's a problem with GWS and their apparent demands for players.

Where exactly does Sav fit in? They have Riccardi, Finlayson, Himmelberg in the forward line and now Pruess in the ruck.

Why is Sav agreeing to a trade where they were dropping some of those forwards throughout the season. Doesn't make sense to me.

For Parfitt it's the same deal. Tom Green who performed so well - and who they gave up so much just to get ahead of a bid last national draft - can't even cement a spot and he's supposedly the future of their football club.

Doesn't make sense to me

I'd think they'd be looking at Ratugolea as a ruck option - on their list this year was Jacobs, Mumford and the untried Matthew Flynn

Jacobs has already retired, fair bit of speculation that Mumford will retire also - guessing that if they do acquire a couple of rucks in Preuss and say Ratugolea, that may help a decision around Mumford's future

If they can only get Preuss, then Mumford may get another year on the list

Interesting to reflect on the last junior ruckman we lost due to not being picked in a GF team. I think mummy was seen as lazy at the time also. Seemed to go on and have a good career. I am would be seriously considering losing Sav.

Stk to pay Crouch 750-800 a year. .... wow. I mean WOW. Good luck to the st's and good luck to the Crows ...but WOW

It means they get their P2. and everyone gets pushed back

(according to trade bell. sen)

No wonder he agreed to St Kilda's offer - wasn't our proposed offer suggested to be around $450k?

Good luck to him & St Kilda

Interesting to note ..in two FA situations with the Crows he mentioned .."something going on" ... which was sort of code for some sort of arrangement happening

It sounds like Stk will trade Webster to the Crows to get rid of him off their cap. ..and something happening with Hartigan as well. Sounds like there will be plenty to watch come trade week.

It also means it will see Adelaide take McDonald for sure im... do they also take TThorpe and have two talls ?

How is it Horrendous that appears to be two very good deals because we still end up with 3× 1sts as well as Cameron

Sav would be playing 2nds in 2021 given Stanley current form and Cameron coming to the club

Rumors swirling that Jordan Clark wants to go home and if we can get a Top 10 pick for him why not

Unless you can come up with a better deal

By the way the deal layed out for Jezza is basically the Danger deal with with Sav leaving instead of Dean Gore

Its better than the other option which GWS want which is to include Parfitt in the deal

Why give up two promising young players when we already have the picks capital to get it done or otherwise, other players that are not required?

Clark - name a better first round prospect we’ve drafted since Selwood. Menzel maybe. That’s it. Clark bursted on fo the scene last year, and was injured this year in a strange season, with perhaps some second year blues. But his intercepting marking ability, kicking and nous is elite for his have and will be a GUN. The rumours circulating have ZERO substance. Of course WA teams would want him. They can ask - which is probably where all this media crap has come from and duped good cats supporters into thinking he’s leaving. Facts are he’s contracted , loves the club, the club rates him extremely highly and I know from within he club they see him as a future captain. Clark leaving is akin to Duncan returning to WA due to rumours. And we wouldn’t trade one of the BEST young contracted prospects on our list. Just why??

Sav - the short sightedness of fans is incredible. He had an indifferent year. Not every young prospect has a great year, hell even Cameron was dog shit this year. He’s 22, takes more pack marks per game than most and due to our current game plan, has been shifted OUT of his natural position (which is FF). He’s a power forward with more natural athleticism than most other key forwards. You’d probably have the kings and naughton ahead of him at his age and that’s it. How old was Hawkins when he came good? Fact is you don’t throw out great young key position prospects lightly. We have none other on our list in the twos bar SDK. Hawkins is 32 and Cameron will partner Sav in a great combo post Hawkins life. We cannot, and shouldn’t let him go again, when there are other options.

What would I do?

I’d negotiate hard. I’d say the precedent for a RFA trade is set. It’s less than fair value due to yrs of service. danger was a round 1 + round 2 + plus a nobody player for Cameron a d a round 3. But I’d argue danger was better.

That equates to 11 + 33 + one of Krueger/Constable/kennerly for Cameron + 46

Worst case scenario we might go to 11 + 18 For Cameron + 46 if push came to shove.

We keep our better required youngsters, get Cameron and hold on to one of our first round picks. And in a few years when Clark is our premier gun quarterback and Sav is ripping it up at FF as a high leaping pack crushing power forward with Cameron roaming CHF, you will love it.

Good article this one. Sums things up pretty well.

Very good overview. Aligns with my previous efforts to show why there’s no need to “rebuild”* and how we’ve managed to avoid it (and will continue to try to do so).

*in truth, as the article shows, we have rebuilt, just unconventionally. I like to use the analogy of my grandfathers axe.

And in five years Saints supporters will be among those asking why Geelong seems to have no salary cap.

Maybe GWS is cooling on Ratugolea or been told he's not interested...

I think it’s far more likely that the names mentioned to date are journo’s spitballs more than anything else.

I have not heard us liked to Caldwell.. have you ? I suppose now that we have let Crouch go elsewhere..we may have an interest in a mid
We were linked early in articles. Maybe that was just putting two and two together as he went to school here.

It’s now down to 3 by all reports which doesn’t include is. He will be an absolute gun. The smart money should be chasing him hard. I would love to get him. In a side trade to Cameron I’d trade pick 11 in a heartbeat for him. He was a toss of the coin with Bailey Smith in that draft.

Anyway won’t be happening so no point dreaming.

I wonder where Jesse Hogan will end up...?

Rehab.

I mean which club.

Not club Med.

I am happy its wells and not big footy posters that pick the trade. Some cat cans way over rate our players hell some even still rate Parsons and think another club will pick him up

About that id say which gives us no financial incentive to tradeclark. Keep him for another 12months unless they put brayshaw on the table (which they wont).

There are a couple of reasons why id consider trading him but unless we can gain more than 150-200 in cap space i doubt its done. If we some how could end up with an extra pick next year and upgrade a pick this year ..all options. The bottom line is we need to see him play next year cause players not playing want to play. Its one of my things with Sav... will he get many games next year?

Clark apparently running in the 1/2 time sprint .... lets see how he measures up in that.

Anyway.. how many do we need to delist. 7?

Until we know list sizes I don't think we can answer that question.

Yes bit hard to know ...but clubs are targeting other players etc... gees they have to know soon.

I assume there will be a group of 3-4 that will be left in limbo until confirmation of 2021 list sizes is finalised. Feel for those guys. Bloody stressful.

I honestly think its wrong to trim the list after this year...very rough deal for some.
