Anyone have the 2km times of Sonsie, Sheldrick and Chesser?
Btw, we’ve also interviewed Long 3 times apparently.

There's a post in the draft rumours thread that we've interviewed Sheldrick three times and are very keen on him. Take it with a grain of salt, I guess.
I'd be okay with this for one of our picks in the 30s with my limited knowledge, but I hope we'll be looking for someone with cleaner disposal with our first pick. I feel like Wells always likes players that show real improvement as 17/18-year-olds because it shows they have the capacity/will to develop, so I wouldn't be stunned with someone like him as a pick.
Well, we might as well put a line through him now i guess. Stephen Smokescreen Wells strikes again. LOL
I haven't seen him play, just re-watching the WAFL Colts Grand Final now but haven't really got a good gauge on his kicking yet as he seems to have a lot of quick clearing kicks from stoppage. He does have some good pace/explosiveness and footy smarts though. Playing with a pretty bad corky.
I actually think that there is a very good chance one of Taylor, Sonsie or Chesser will be there at our first pick. All of them aren't going inside the top 15 so lets look at each clubs list needs after 15.
*this is including the darcy and daicos bids*
15 - GWS
They are overflowing with midfield talent so it's unlikely they pick either sonsie or taylor. Especially drafting Bruhn and Angwin last year.
16 - Brisbane
They need to target talls and rebounding defenders. If they were to pick a mid early I would put my bets on Knevitt or Goater as they don't have a 190cm+ mid.
17. Richmond
This is one club who I could see drafting a smaller mid early.
17 - Sydney
They drafted Gulden and Campbell last year who are both smaller mids who use the ball well. Can't see them drafting another early this year.
18 - Melbourne
Maybe the smallest chance. But very unlikely considering they drafted Bowey and Laurie last year who are similar players.
19 - Brisbane
Same as above
20 - Freo
Nat Fyfe literally said the club was targeting local talls early. Wouldn't be surprised to see them take 2 of Amiss, JVR and Williams. But they are a chance considering Cerra left. And this pick could be traded.
21 - North Melbourne
They have so many elite young mids it would just be dumb to take a mid at this pick.
22 - Hawthorne
If I was a betting man I would put my bets on Sonsie at this pick. But they could take someone else.
So that pretty much leaves Richmond's, Freo's and Hawthorne's picks as genuine chances to take those three players. But I would say that it is a very unlikely senario that all three ended up taking those players.
I'm not even a fan of Sonsie or Chesser but since you are this should get your hopes up.
As well as Schlensog, I wonder if we have shown any interest in Greg Clark, big mature WA mid.

Agree.
I remember watching him go head to head against JHF in the WA vs SA game and thinking 'this kid is a bull' his workrate is great.
Sheldrick and Sonsie aren't the best underance athletes. There 2k's are over 7 mins. From memory i think chesser is like a 6:20 or 6:30 2k. Chesser is definetely the best 2k out of all of them.Anyone have the 2km times of Sonsie, Sheldrick and Chesser?

Yeah his kicking technique isn't the worst, he is just a bit inconsistent. I actually think if he works hard enough he can turn it into a strength. Similar to what Lachie Neale was able to do.I've just watched Sheldrick kick a brilliant crumbing goal on the left, then another on the right within minutes to put Clarement in front in the WAFL Colts grand final. Not to mention he's playing with a heavily corked thigh. I like him a lot.
We don't really need mature aged mids. So I would rather draft someone else. Rather draft a young mid with much higher upside. As well as Schlensog, I wonder if we have shown any interest in Greg Clark, big mature WA mid.
Yeah it could definetely happen. But i would still say it is unlikely given there are so many clubs in that area where that type of player isn't a need. I reckon richmond would preffer a taller mid. RCD has been on the list for a while and really didn't impress me when he finally played this year. What helps us is brisbane tend to prefer vic country players over vic metro. But still i think richmond will take taylor at 15 sonsie will go to hawks at 21 (if he hasnt gone earlier) as his good game for their vfl team will no doubt have been noticed by them and i reckon melbourne take chesser. But you are right one of them could get through. At least if they all go before 22 it means brown probably gets to us (brisbane and nth melb are the biggest threats to take him before 22 if we dont trade up).

Sheldrick was 7.01 for 2km but he ran 3.05 for 20m so he isnt slow on burst speed and 8.36 for agility so hes fairly agile his tank could just improve a tad.
Not sure on the other two.

That's a pretty ordinary 2km.
Bit concerning. Not dreadful but not great. Don't want to be drafting another Constable type.
I think Chook ran 7:58 (source) so Sheldrick is still considerably quicker.
Yeh, it's still 3 min 30 sec/km which is reasonable. Interesting they only test them to 2km. You'd think a 5km time might be more informative on endurance (though I'm no exercise physiologist).
7.58 over 2 km is terrible. I could run much quicker than that back in the day!
They normally do the yoyo as well. It's a better indication of footy endurance since you stop and start running in the sport. Whereas a 5k you are just running the same speed for 15+ minutes. I don't know why they didn't do it this year.Yeh, it's still 3 min 30 sec/km which is reasonable. Interesting they only test them to 2km. Its very similar. You run 20m forward then run back, then you get 10 secs of recovery time and it slowly gets faster like the beep test.Yo-yo being the old beep test or similar?

I think sheldrick needs to improve his endurance yes but other than them both being inside mids he and CC arent similar. Sheldrick is a much better kick than CC, much better defensively (very important)and has better burst away from a stoppage.
Yes, just meant in terms of aerobic endurance.
