I know we delisted him after last season, but how exactly did we stuff up? We need to remember that list management decisions last year were impacted by cuts to list sizes and the salary cap - so always likely to be some unlucky players getting cut

The other aspect to factor into the situation is that Blake's development last year wouldn't have been helped by the lack of a structured second tier comp, and this year we've seen the VFL comp go through start/stop patches. As such we don't know if Blake would have necessarily come along in our settings as he has in the WAFL where he hasn't had those same interruptions

I said it was a mistake to delist him and was surprised we did.

I'm all for a strategic trade in of an aged player but IMO they've got to have a relatively clean slate when it comes to injuries and discipline/work ethic. I'd have no problem with guys like Ablett or Isaac Smith but I hope we steer clear of guys like Mitch Clark, Jack Steven, and Hamish McIntosh.

Ablett worked out ... coming from an injury affected couple of years, but three you name played so few games, Hmac probably affect our draft approach. So yes care should be taken, and I think the older the player, the more likely they will hit a wall. Injury and age can take the shine of the best players

Smith for example. At 32 and 1/2 Looks to be playing fantastic footy. He may be our best ever FA.....who knows how long he plays at his current level. Do guys like him and Mundy show that players can still do it in the 30's. Yes. Does it mean all players will be able to play their best footy post 32?

Higgins at 33 and 1/2. I think , so far is not as successful. He may come good but he may also be a guy who starting to hit the wall. Hopefully he can play well in the games to come and put things in the plus column.

I guess if they want him they could go and get him. He has probably benefited by his delisting. He would have played less here in the VFL, and would not have played AFL. Of course he may prefer another club

The NGA kids this year cant be matched for R1 .... what a shame FatherSon with less than 100 games could not be accorded the same allowance.

Father Sons like Johnathon Brown in Brisbane joined their club when the requirement was just 50 games... id think between 50-99 games as a benchmark and not being able to match them R1 would be fair for all. 100 games plus and you can match an R1 bid.

Paul Browns who played 80 something ... and we cant match a bid on him seems unfortunate.

Considering that some clubs have no success with nga and others seem to get a lot, it would help balance it.

If he’s as good as Chris’ assessment why was he again bypassed by clubs in the mid season draft?

I don't make a habit of reading Knightmare's prognostications. But this sounds seriously hyped for a player that, as has been mentioned, was bypassed at the mid-season draft, despite a number of bigs being taken by clubs. I was comfortable with how he was coming along when he was with us. But the list squeeze did for him, as it did for many others across the comp.

Would love to see him get another chance. And if that happens with us, so much the better. But I'm not sure that this 'cover me in sunshine' viewpoint of Blake is going to be immediately matched by reality if he does return to AFL ranks. Look forward to seeing it if it happens, though. Because he sounds like the second coming of Barry Stoneham, going off this gushing account.

I would just laugh at anything you said as you don't know anything about talent...You said Holmes was scared to go in for the ball had no outstanding skill..Enough said
He is certainly performing much better than Krueger and SDK at the same level of competition

Have you seen him play? I was shocked to see how much he has improved, he is a legitimate star in the WAFL when he was barely serviceable in the VFL (though, he was improving). He is not the same player as when he was delisted. But yes there is hyperbole in Knightmares comments.

Its a reasonable question ... id think there would be someone who would recruit a top KPD? Several rucks were taken to beat the draft.

Id say we have the choice of listing him or letting him go. We wanted a Rookie B spot for Tsap

Lets see if he is on a list next year
