C'mon man, he's hardly gonna want to go on record with it. The fact that it is in the media says enough. Anyway, happy to disagree on this one. All I see is an unproven young player unrealistically demanding to be played in their preferred position and threatening to pack up their bags over it.
He's threatening to sign a better contract that he's being offered. Everything about his attitude seems like bigfooty interpretation which somehow became gospel.

"What Charlie does at the second tier level is nothing short of outstanding. The door isn't shut on a return to Geelong, but if something arises he'll look at it." Constable’s manager

There is literally no point in Charlie getting another 1 year deal at Geelong either way. We have tight list spots and Stephens, Narkle and Holmes are all ahead of him on the fringe.

Delist and try again at the draft in prep for 2024 season.

What are you watching? Narkle cant get a gig in our midfield and neither can Paddy fu#@in Dow.

Ease Up buddy.... Narkle can and Narkle did... weren't you watching??
He along with the others i mentioned lined up at centre bounces and on ball the ball. So saying they can't/didn't isn't quite correct.
But anyway... I see you put a line through Dow. Unlike myself who think he's an untapped midfielder who might actually showcase his talents in a new environment.
Cheers Bud.

This is what I’m hoping for over the trade period. I’d love to keep Krueger but assume he’s going. Happy for Fort and Clark to move on. And while I am not in the burn the place to the ground only play younglings camp if happy for any veterans to move on.

If we can get a late first round pick for Clark or enough to trade in with the dogs or another club wanting points.
The. We can go to the draft with something like 17, 32 and 34.

I’d be happy to add Brander for a cheap trade to replace Krueger.
And I really hope we have a crack at fixing our ruck issue. The options are limited but they’re there. Good to move Fort on and let’s look at Flynn, Ladhams, Briggs or Lynch.

We have three picks in the 30s, you’d think one of these will end up being a first round pick after our Clark and Kreuger trades.

How do you disentangle from that the possibility (likelihood if we are being serious) that Atkins trains harder, has worked on his weaknesses, plays to instruction, etc.?
Not sure. Obviously your premise that “he’s not good enough” also covers the mental aspect of being good enough. Atkins has this in spades, Clark appears to not at the moment.
Plenty of very talented players who ended up being not good enough. So yeah, you’re not wrong.

Fair point.

I tend towards option 1 as at no stage this year did I think Clark was stiff not to get a game.

I agree, and watching him in the VFL he'd do some really good things but then also go missing for extended periods

I would like to see the club holding him to his contract, see what happens over the next 12 months and if he can step it up a level or 2 get a spot in the 22 and then retain his spot - if the ultimate trade is 27 or Clark, hedge our bets we may get more from Clark next year than the kid taken at 27, especially if it clicks for Clark

Sounds like Kelly is going to be our next defensive line coach, so I'd like to think he'll be on the phone to Clark at some stage this week to have a good chat with him and what his own approach to things will be and then put a bit back on Clark - "we want to keep you, this is a fresh start and there's spots available but it's up you to earn that spot. And that will start with the pre-season which I'm looking forward to working with you from day 1 of."

That puts it back onto Clark to see if he wants to earn a spot in the backline, and also what work is he prepared to do in his own time - will be turn up to pre-season in good shape & ready to go, or will he be starting on the back foot which isn't going to be a good first impression

I agree. I half think the rumour of him being offered another contract is a ruse

Well he won't be in the 30s is what I'm picking up but it's real hard to tell. Might get lucky at 27 if Clark goes

I'm of the thinking that he's not a first rounder. So 25 (Carlton) or 27 (Freo) picks might be enough.
But my spidey senses tell me that Clark will stay on. which negates the 25-27 picks.
Those same senses tell me that our 2022 first rounder will be used to nab a pick in the first round this year.
Time will tell.

2022 1st rounder? I sure hope not. That thing could land anywhere

Just hypothetical.... what is Sav worth to another club? Say gold coast?:think:

Not that I think they would be interested (given Chol is already on his way north), but having so many players contracted makes a deal with them very unlikely in my view.

Not a lot of room to move for Gold Coast with every one of its 38 senior-listed players contracted for next season in a tight salary cap. Richmond's Mabior Chol looks certain to join the Suns as a free agent to offer ruck support for Jarrod Witts and forward line help for Ben King.

I think we're out of the running for Knevitt with current picks already. Unless we get a hail Mary from freo

Or unless we trade up to the 10-20 range.

We wont get a first rounder for clark on his own but i can see us using what we get for him plus some of our other picks to upgrade to the dogs R1.

Bit of chat about Constable perhaps being in discussions with Freo as part of what they're trying to do with Clark. Not sure how or why, as he's uncontracted (unless clubs can still involve uncontracted players in other deals).

With Cerra going, Constable might have a better chance of midfield time (and games) at Freo - not sure. But he is best mates from school and draft years with Brayshaw, and I'm sure that is a factor.

He is best mates with andy having said that im not sure optus is the best home ground to play at if you struggle to endurance run. I think geelong would happily help CC find a new home if he can get one..if no one wants him then we will offer him 1 year to stay.
