As others put it to me when we picked Bruhn up, he is a guarantee to play 100+ games for us whereas statistically picks 11-20 accomplishes such a feat roughly half the time. I think it’s a case of we know what we’ve got compared to some unknown draft prospect.Do most people think Bruhn is better than what might be available at Pick 18 in this draft?
I think he might be... I was looking at this draft the other day, and say after about Pick 16, it gets a meh...
JSel was there too lolCheers, good to see him back early (Dare I say captain-esque professionalism?)
Not in regards to every player. I'm of the opinion Knevitt won't cut the mustard..
All that is true but his kicking is a worry. I think clark is a safer pick but i wouldnt be against humphrey.
Jury is out on him, still early though... I do see some traits he has that hopefully in time can by capitalized on.
I looked at Holmes in his first year and knew he had extreme speed, but didn't know how to use it... He started using it at the mid point this season gone.
Knevitt has decent speed/height and can definitely take a decent overhead grab for a mid... Might take him a couple of years to put it all together... but he has some tools that others just don't have to begin with.
That certainly doesn't mean he will make it though... But it definitely buys him more time in my eyes than others that just look run of the mill.
I havent watched any highlights of any of them - just read the last couple of pages - and the wraps on Humphrey are pretty good
But re his kicking - that you point out - is there an AFL player - can be any team who has got a kicking action similar to him
I wonder if Pick 7 will be better than Bowes... I think Bowes in the right system might actually flourish...
I don't know about pick 7 but I still think that Jack Bowes is so good that he'll be our captain one day. I'm not usually one to make massive calls like this especially when they're on a positive note but thats how high I rate that guy.I wonder if Pick 7 will be better than Bowes... I think Bowes in the right system might actually flourish...
Really looking forward to seeing this kid in 2023. He looks to have some good attributes as you outline.
I think I may have off the mark on Jordy. He had a good year at the Dockers. I just thought he was too soft and lacked intensity.I think you were not so opto on Jordy Clark either
And thats fine... I like Knevit and like Clark before he dropped the lip.
Its why we are here to discuss and share opinions. In the end opinions mean 3/5ths of Sweet Fanny Adams .. they are just opinions
Lions, Roos in pick swap talks as clubs assess draft hands
Found this an interesting article. Sounds like Sydney’s 14 & 17, and two of GWS’s 15, 18 & 19 are all on the table to get into the top 10.
I think he played his best for us in his first year ..just being allowed to play his natural game. As soon as he was expected to play to instruction he became brain boxed. The game plan we had thsi year ..he would have been far better ..but the bridge were burnt.I think I may have off the mark on Jordy. He had a good year at the Dockers. I just thought he was too soft and lacked intensity.
No collision? He collided with a goal postHe looked a smooth mover in his only half game, but he broke his hand but had no collision impact to get it, I thought he mite be made of chocolate.

I think Humphrey will go very well too. I think he is more Brendan Goddard rather than Heeney/Degoey/Danger type. I know Goddard was more a HBF and Mid, but it's more his playing style I'm referring to specifically. Either way you look at it, he will be a very good player. The kid is a weapon.
A DeGoey/Heeney type that is powerful in tight, hard to hold onto, and can take a strong mark (also adds flexibility Danger style).
Powerful explosive goal-kicking mids like that don't grow on trees.
I said from the get-go that I'd love him... But think he will either be gone or we just take Clark anyway.
Anyway, my opinion means nothing and I just hope whoever we take ends up being a long-term gun.
I don't think he will too as a gut feeling, but I could be totally wrong. I'd need to assess his improvement in year 2 and year 3, by then we will know for sure. Not in regards to every player. I'm of the opinion Knevitt won't cut the mustard..
14 + 17 is somewhat appealing to me... but I think 7 is better. 15 + 18 + 19 is less appealing to me. A first this year and a first next year would be ideal.Lions, Roos in pick swap talks as clubs assess draft hands

Thing is some are not going to make it. Not fair but thats the way the apple drops. They have to seperate themselves somehow.
Id think a few of these guys have to find a way into the side this year...or they will be talent kids that are looking fro chances elsewhere. We will have 4 names for a start that will be given a lot of chances this year... the guys one step down have an extra hurdle to jump.
In 2023...I think , Bruhn, Henry, Bowes, PlayerX , Knevitt , Conway , Neale, Dempsey will be getting games. ... Simpson will be hoping ... and I think the kid Whyte may surprise a few.

The 2022 season may have ended, but that doesn't mean the rules cease to apply - when signing up to Big Footy you've all agreed to the Terms & Conditions, while here on the Geelong board we've clearly laid out the expectations when posting in these threads in the "Setting The Tone" thread
All too often during this time of year we lose good folks who get sick of the bullshit and decide their only option is too walk away - as a group we should be embarrassed that we have regular posters, those who are up for a chat, offer good insight and banter during the season who feel that's their only option
SO THE CRAP STOPS NOW, AND A WARNING TO ALL - ZERO TOLERATION FOR GOING OFF TOPIC & PLAYING THE MAN
Future posts where there only intent is to go the man will see time on the sidelines - we want all folks knowing this is a safe place to chat and share their opinions. Debate the topic to your hearts content, just keep in mind where the line is that we're asking you to not cross
And for those who've forgotten what it says in the "Setting The Tone" thread, then I strongly recommend having a new read through it:
