If Carlton are still a basketcase ...

Honestly, it looks a smarter deal for Walsh than Carlton

If at the end of this contract Carlton are a contending team & in a good place, it's likely an easy re-sign situation, but as you say, if they're not sure well positioned...

Can’t see the blues being a basket case for much longer.

Made some of the best off season decisions recently that the club has made in 20 odd years.

I think we could turn Schlensog into the perfect option for that.

A little shocked they haven’t given him the call back...
Was wondering what he is doing this season- any team picked him up? Are we considering midseason?

I suspect what we do mid season will depend on needs. Henry being injured hints what could happen. We might also look at some kid who missed getting drafted who might go much earlier than we could get to him. It seems to happen each year now... if we could pick up a Menegola type 22 or so would be a head start on drafting.

My bet you would see the odd 19 year old in the nabL that would appeal.

They were talking up Cooper Stephens, and he looks physically ready, but watching the Match Sim highlights I saw him:
  • handball when tackled causing the ball to be a disputed ball;
  • be beaten at the stoppage by Cam Guthrie;
  • see him kick the footy into the man in the mark causing a turnover...

Geez, they could've given him better highlights from Match Sim... lol

Is he gonna be the new Cowan!? ;) Hope not lol

I reckon they have no interest in Schlensog otherwise they would have taken him by now, after the retirement of Henderson and the lack of tall backs in the squad.

Don't dispute they were bad highlights but I don't think he kicker into a man on the mark. It was running from a contest. I don't think the highlights were actively bad so much as they were just mediocre

At first we suspected no.51 was Schlensog, but it is highly unlikely it’s him.

Nah sounds like hes back in WA in quarantine so not him.

Looks like we are trialling some tall defenders for our vfl squad id say.

For development , id not be against giving some games to Tsap down there... basketball background... can lightning strike twice? The guy , who ever he is, in the clip , he looks like he has enough height.

I've got this feeling, that Mitch Knevitt will turn into a beast at the stoppages. Like out of control. He won't have that Danger explosiveness, but something in between Bont and Cripps.
He's gonna need a bulk order of protein powder on repeat delivery for about 3 years first.

I'm sure he's strong but looks like he could get pushed over by a string wind

As long as its not somewhere between Seir and Jennsen. who also had big bodies.

Time will tell, he has the size and running ability to play the level, we will soon have a big hole that needs filling.

Yeah I saw that. It's hard trying to determine if this kids any good, there's such limited footage of him. I'm not saying he can't play but there's yet to be any evidence of him that he can. This training video didn't help.

Or it could be fortuitous, crap in a sim, but better when everyone is really going. Sometimes it has felt that some of our game-day picks have been Kings of the Game Sim.

Ben King's knee again confirms that one player can not be the be all and end all. Imagine us having our first single figure pick in over 15 years ... and he does his knee. In fact we do not have to imagine it, we lived it with Menzel.

So whether CS is a gun or a pop gun.. we will see failures, we will see bad luck...and we will see some players not come up to the standard hoped for.

Hence, we will need more quality, we need to bring in more youth at years end...high end talent like Clark or who ever.

Menzel was pick 17?
