You'd be surprised, we're actually much quicker to throw the baby out with the bathwater over here in comparison to other sports in terms of our media.

In the US for example, Ray Lewis was playing while on charge for double murder. Deshaun Watson had had up to 30 claims of sexual assault/harrassment and secured one of the largest contracts in NFL history, and is still playing now.

Countless players have been charged with domestic violence, rape, and other despicable crimes. It's not pretty reading.

The point is though, seeing as this appears at least likely to happen, we all need to remember this: As much as we like to think so, our club is not morally superior to any other.

They're businesses at the end of the day, and if the club believes the recruitment of Tarryn Thomas could win us a premiership (ala Stengle) they'll do it.

I can appreciate those who are concerned, and your claims are valid...but you're kidding yourself if you think AFL clubs won't give a talent like this 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances.

They're just like businesses at the end of the day, it's the bottom line that matters most to them.

It would take a member revolt in the numbers of 10,000s to change their thinking if they're 100% on making this happen.

Talent in the afl is like the Flux Capacitor in Back to the Future . Have enough talent and it seems most errors can be almost wiped from the records.

Just what is the line in Aust Rules football club these days? Its a very blurry distinction on what is acceptable, what is tolerable , what is forgettable, what is forgivable and what is inexcusable. Its probably different in different countries and different comps but no doubt you can get forgiven for a lot if you are talented.

If we want a football club to fill their side with Dudley do rights ... the odds are that we have a very righteous and a very average team.

Im not enthused by the thought of Tarrryn Thomas but my bet is if you really, really knew the character of every player in your side..it would make it hard to cheer whole heartedly.

Trade for TT? No for me but who knows the way the club thinks but I suspect it would be similar to BSmith . The right side of 25 and Pnp.

#7 for TT would be farcical.
Can't see them doing that.
The question to ask is, WHY IS HE AVAILABLE?

Assume that’s a rhetorical question. We all know why he’s available. We knew that before Calder’s post. He’s bad news. Fails the character test. Dare say he’s alienated from a great portion of the North playing and coaching group. Of course they’d be open to moving him on.

I would be happy to give up 7 for Thomas, but I would want something in return.. Tom Powell…

See that I would do. You get a gun player who can offset the loss of Thomas if it goes bad, and you only give up 1 draft pick.

Powell alone is worth around Pick 15-20, so Powell and Thomas for 7 would be a solid deal.

Will never happen in a million years, but I've been pretty vocal in my desire to get Powell to the club. Love him as a player, and he's stuck behind a lot at North.

Should we be concerned regarding Holmes being linked to other clubs. It sounds like we are very keen to re-sign him asap but they are happy to wait?
Honestly if Holmes is going to put up a season like this season every year ill happily move him on, some of his efforts this year were putrid, he didnt look happy at all.

As a woman, if the club recruits Tarryn Thomas I will quite happily cancel my membership and email them to let them know why. Putrid if true
You would have canceled your membership years ago if you knew half of what the players get up to.
Yes Geelong players as well.

Everyone can see North are going after pick 1 for Reid.. He will suck a lot of cap space and west coast will milk for that pick.

His first 8 or 9 rounds weren't bad. From halftime against Richmond in round 9 some flick seemed to switch. He was only able to put together a couple of strong 4 quarter performances after that. If his form really lit up it may have been enough to get us into finals.

Would be silly to discard him though. He is arguably the highest potential young player we have. Plenty of our stars have had worse seasons than 2023 Holmes early on.

Yes. Very concerned
Any chance these two issues are related?

Like, we'd be fine sending Sav to the draft if it set a precedent that we're happy to do it if terms aren't met. Like, what are we walking away from? Pick 37? Who cares.

Shot across the bow to make sure Max knows that if he's choosing a club he has to be sure that they are going to play ball at the trade table? Might be worth a lot more in the long run

Scott needs to put away the crack pipe, we arent getting a good deal for Sav and he isnt staying....we have no leverage.

He's definitely not staying, but think again when it comes to not getting a good deal:

Already discussion about Port putting their future 1st out there to get collateral in this draft - to then on-trade to us, Richmond and Essendon. Different discussion to even a week ago. Also coming from Twomey who is involved speaking to all the different clubs down at Docklands - so it looks like it is a possibility to use it, despite the '2 in 4' rule. Trust Twomey over a lot of the other commentators when it comes to this discussion, as well.

I daresay Scott going full jilted ex over losing his love child is probably showing them how much we don't want to lose him - and how much we're prepared to do this the hard way if we are facing that prospect.

See below:

"PORT Adelaide's future first-round pick is on the trade table as the Power look at ways to split the selection to help them get their deals done.

The Power have had Geelong's Esava Ratugolea, Essendon's Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Bulldog Jordon Sweet nominate Alberton Oval as their preferred new homes ahead of the trade period, with the club also interested in Richmond ruckman Ivan Soldo.

But without a first-round selection this year – it's with North Melbourne after the Jason Horne-Francis deal in 2022 – the Power have to be creative to get their deals done, with rivals aware their 2023 first-rounder is up for grabs for multiple selections.

There are a number of possible options if the Power are to look at clubs who could be willing to use two picks to package together for the future first-rounder.

Sydney (picks No.23 and 31) and Melbourne (25 and 33) loom as possible options as clubs with multiple picks this year, while Port could also look at finding a club that has one early second-round pick this year and can throw in a future second-rounder to net the future first-round selection.

Fremantle (pick No.22) and Hawthorn (30) hold top-30 picks this season as well as their future second-rounders, while West Coast also holds two second-round picks (No.20 and 33) and could also be possibilities. – Callum Twomey"

Well we do given Nth and Hawthorn are after KPD's. Port need him so they'll pony up.

Getting one of those early 20’s picks for him would be a good get.
