What he did IS VERY MUCH DESERVING OF PRISON TIME. You cannot be serious. He threatened to spread revenge p*rn. If he had, a woman's life would have been absolutely ruined, which is the actual joke here.

I honestly can't stand men who refuse to stand up for women. How do you go about your day not helping those who need your protection and support? How do you defend men who choose to harass and abuse? It makes me as a woman not want to have thing to do with footy the way men act like abusive men are the real victims for being held accountable for their choices instead of the women they decide to abuse.

I think this is a good example of a post that shows just how divisive a move like this would be.

I also think it might be best to shelve the Thomas talk for a bit until we get further information, as it's clearly upset multiple people - and there are some serious issues involved when discussing him.

Bit of a rumour that PA will trade their F1 for 2 of Melbourne’s picks. I’d say we’ll end up with 25 under that scenario which would be a reasonable result for both parties. Ratagolea trade I’m referring to.

25 and 33 would not net a Future first. Look what we had to give to move from 37 to 25 last year with Brisbane.

They'd have to give up more than that. Possibly 25, 33 and a Future 2nd might get it done - but even then that's doubtful.

Have to remember it’s Port that have the F1. They need to trade for picks to facilitate trades. They would be giving away the F1 regardless. If the trade was initiated the other direction you’d have a point.

Just to balance the discussion on Thomas.

I made some calls and the only responses I’ve got so far are:

  • Not really where the focus is
  • First I’ve heard of it
  • Unlikely given the history

None of that means it won’t happen, but it seems it’s unlikely.

Any before anyone draws a parallel with Stengle, I think we’re talking two vastly different circumstances. Can’t see female board members rubber stamping this one.

It's not a firesale though - and Melb won't be the only ones vying for that pick.

At best Port finish 4th and they give up Pick 15. At worst they finish 10-12 given the harder draw, and give up Pick 6-8 for 25 and 33. That's a huge level of risk involved.

At the very least, I'd say the Grundy trade of 22 or 30 would have to be involved. Maybe even a Future 2nd as well. If Port did it for 25 and 33 alone, they'd be absolute fools.

There may be more complexity to it with other picks swaps but that was the guts of it.

Posted this on the Dees board, and most agree that it wouldn't make much sense if it were just 25 and 33 alone:

"What's stopping Port just dealing with us or Essendon directly though, if that were the case?

Future 1st for Sav and Future 2nd
Geelong Future 2nd and 43 for BZT
Port Future 2nd and 37 for Soldo
Future 3rd for Sweet

No need for a middle man if only those two picks are involved. Would think there'd have to be more to it, IMO."

Put it this way, Sav will be so pissed off that we are making it hard again he'd likely go to the draft and go to Hawthorn just to get away.
What if Scott, an unashamed fan of Sav, makes an impassioned plea to him to think twice about leaving?

Can we afford to keep Sav? Will he get a regular game? Is there room for improvement in Sav?

I must admit the highlights package they showed on Gettable, albeit 10 - 20 seconds, was impressive

Not set in stone by any stretch but it’s an option being discussed. Heard from a mate with D’s connections.

Interesting, cheers.

Someone on the Dees board said something similar, but didn't start what picks would be involved.

Why wouldn't Port just deal directly with the clubs of the players they want, instead of getting the Dees involved - as I showed above. Pick 33 to move from 25 to 14 or 6-8 if their year goes bad, is nothing. There's also other clubs that would want that pick too.

Will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. I'd be putting a lot on it being much more than just 25 and 33 though.

Under that scenario we are effectively only getting a pick upgrade for Sav. Potentially only a half a dozen picks too. I’d probably prefer to have pick 25 by itself.

Could also be a 25 pick upgrade when all is said and done. I'd take the gamble of a Future 1st over a guaranteed Pick 30+ when all the other BS pushes it out.

At least it's gonna make trade period vaguely interesting now :p

Setting aside the moral stuff it is completely different from a football sense as well. Stengle was free, if he stuffed up again, we could have just delisted him at practically no cost (opportunity cost of a list spot only).

I'm on this boat 100%, felt his form declined this year. Would want a big 2024 before committing too much to keep him. But there could be more to his form than we're aware of and we get what we all want from him next season.
Like I said earlier, his form did decline (disposal effectiveness, quarter to quarter consistency and defensive running all seemed to be a bit off) but he still pushed his disposal average up towards 20 and what we badly need are new guys to push into that elite disposal winning category.

We have Stewart, Duncan and Dangerfield for the 20+ gang. We have lost Smith from that group but C.Guthrie returning will give us one back. Atkins was close at 19.4. Bruhn in the back end of the year was pushing 19/20 disposals a game which is encouraging. Miers is almost around that level now.

But there's no way we can consider shipping out one of our best potential outside players and future ball winners. Our future surely will revolve around Bruhn, Atkins, Clark and Knevitt releasing it to the likes of Holmes. if we can bring in another midfielder with a burst of speed and class, even better. But it shouldn't be at the expense of Holmes.

Nah.. We would just increase his contract and sign him for 12 months, then he will be a FA next year ( assuming i have it right).

Is Holmes being unhappy actually based on anything?

Collingwood made the call, like 16 other clubs probably did. Max had a poor year (as young players are prone to), and suddenly we've made the leap to 'He's leaving' pretty quickly.

He's just bought a house in G-Town, best mates with Shannon Neale...I'm going to need to see a little more before we hit the panic button.

I think it's based on boredom during the season when we were up & down

Not sure I've seen any mention of it anywhere outside Part I & now Part II of this thread

Honestly I think it came from the story of him being unhappy about being left out of last years GF, which is actually the opposite of what others heard that he in fact put his hand up that he wasn't 100% sure. So I dont believe he's unhappy. Its more his contract situation for me, in his best interest to hold off and have a great 2024 and this being more likely than him genuinely wanting to look elsewhere. But who knows :)

Could we trade with North.
7,2024r2 for 14 19,2024pick 20.
Trade 2024pick 20,esava for 37,ports 2024r1.
That way port gets a first rounder in 2024 to help satisfy the 2 in 4 year thing so they can trade their 2025r1 if they need to.
Overall
Out: 7 ,Esava, 2024r2
In : 14,19,37 , Ports 2024r1.

Seems ambitious I know , perhaps replace 37 with 43, or add 2024r3 to North is more realistic.

This only Happens if bulldogs get pick 4 rather than north, and north really value 7 alot higher than the 10 that Gold Coast ontrade from Dogs.
