As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

There will be good players still at 37 and given our lack of other picks we are not going to cut off our nose to spite our face and throw it away.

Historically ...its exactly what we have done. WE screamed about only getting 32 for Prismall..too 32 to draft and drafted Motlop

We would back ourself to find a kid we like at what ever. There is kid today in the VFL that is doing well that I have not seen much of... Hollard. Thre are players thats slip ..either becuase they will take time ..or they have been injured. Gees If we could land a defender or even just a tall we like ..its the pro choice.

Wouldnt Rich be a good fit? Dogs maybe?

If im georgiades i go to hawks (if they want him) their mids are good but fwds crap and he would play 22 games and they have acres of cap.

Had not thought of them but they are another. North would be OK long term but its going to be a while. Probably get paid the most there.

One thing i am led to believe by few guys that i know.
Football is not his number priority... never was.
Taking pay cuts at Collingwood to stay and play was a BIG no from him as it's his pocket he worries about, not playing for Collingwood.
Kicking the dew off in the Magoos getting paid $40k a game would not faze him one bit.
Just remember one thing. He is not wired like most blokes(Footy players)
The Dees are in a bit of a predicament here. As Grundy has to tick off any move.

That would ruin the whole concept of the NGA. If the AFL tick that off it makes it a farce.
So i think Sanders will be there for all.
On saying that Norf will take him at No. 2 pick.

Grundy reminds me of Preuss a little bit. Everyone questioning why he moved clubs to be behind 1 or 2 other rucks.

He probably doesn't care about playing top-flight - if he's getting decent coin to play twos, with less pressure and less attention that's a big win for him.

Put it this way... id not mind taking a punt.. if P37 translated into Hollands from Gold Coast. Be a big slip in from R1 P37 probably not a bad bunch of points. probably bit too cheap.

Fringe players arent that choosy providing they get cash and gametime (he wont get the 2nd one here but will at several other clubs)
If he has the choice of cash and gametime at three different clubs, then yes he would care about which one he picks.

I care about which employer I work for and where I live. Why wouldn't he?

Grundy hits me a little as being a bit of a smart idiot with the move to Melbourne. He comes across as a generally intelligent man, but seemed to convince himself that Max Gawn playing forward was somehow going to work when it was obvious to most others that it was ludicrous.

Preuss on the other hand, just made a pretty awful choice that might have taken a few years and a fair bit of earning potential off his career.

Probably didnt phrase it right from my end.

He just wants opportunity. Would he prefer port over say essendon or hawthorn? Probably. But would he stay here over risking the draft (if no deal is done). Absolutely not when his worst outcome is say 22 games at hawthorn which is still infinitely better than vfl for us next year. Which was my point. He likes port but the backup options are still way better than us and he wont care therefore about the draft.

And we know this which is why we will take p37 for him rather than let him end up in the draft.

Anyone hear something on SEN about Dusty Martin going to the Suns.....?

Be just like them to trade P4 ..for a 33 guy on 1.4 million a year.... I cant say he would be a perfect role model either.

Suns have no cap room for him. Its no chance and hes worth a r2 at best.

Mitch Lewis goes alright.

Conway v this GWS Flynn bloke in the VFL right now.

Conway getting it done... leading us in fantasy points.View attachment 1778323

Conway competing against 2 rucks in that game. Looked pretty good below his knees on a couple of occasions and gave it off well by hand.

Could Mitch G be one of those forwards who turn in to good backs?

And what about James Jordan? - he would be an upgrade on at least 3 of our current regular defenders.

They might be able to make it work ..but why would you want to know. Its would seem regressive. If you are going to cough up something that good Ric need to hold most of his money till the end of his contract.

Rich hold 1m ..then maybe I start getting interested
