With the draw we have just been given it should be a pick(FutureFirst) in the teens.
Like. 13-14.
For Curtin or Sanders?? No Brainer.

Too risky for me. Aside, there's a good crop of players in next years draft that we should be looking at. That is if we don't trade the FF for a player like Smith or Cadman beforehand.

Risk vs Reward
Curtin No Brainer.
Sanders? Even a future pick 10 would be a easy yes. But I think we have eyes on a bull from Warrnambool.
As for Cadman ? Geelong ?
Where was that rumour started?
Why would he pick us or indeed we pick him? He hasn’t done anything to tingle anyone’s cockles.
I have my doubts as it will go down the same path as the rumours of TDK Curnow Parish Hopper etc etc.
Bailey Smith is OOC but restricted I doubt Bulldogs could would match and take the compensation. But if he repeats his 2023 efforts we won’t be even window shopping for him.

Bailey Smith isn't a free agent, it'll be the same scenario as the Sav trade.

As for Cadman, we're 12 months out mate. Trades are hardly clear in August, let alone November of the preceding year.

Like Jezza, Danger, and everyone before him, they have to start somewhere before we're penciling them in.

Who knows if it'll happen or not, but I'm not sure what you're expecting in terms of assurance this far out.

Probably only if osullivan gets through to 12 i think would nm want it.

Interesting that beatson says no one in the top 6 is selling (which we knew but this confirms it). Sounds like syd want to trade up with us or ess but if they cant get it done they will trade back.

Snith is not a free agent hes just ooc. Guys like mcluggage and duggan are free agents.

Have you seen Stevens play? His lack of speed is a liability, he would be much slower than the blokes you mentioned.

I do worry about it but his testing data suggests hes quicker than he appears in game so maybe theres scope there.

No rookie upgrades for us, so we’ll go into the draft with 5 live picks, which would leave two open list spots.

So either splitting 8 is looking more likely, there is a possible DFA signing but we’re waiting to see what happens draft night, or leaving remaining list spots for SSP to see if we actually anyone left at that stage.

Have I interpreted that right?

I think more likely we leave a couple of spots for train on players in the ssp.

Correct. Bailey Smith is OOC.

I could see Watson sliding. As good as he is the other top 7 are pretty talented too, it's not as if buy passing on Watson you're missing out.

Duursma is a worry, for mine. Battled in the champs, only had 6 touches against the Allies. Also ran the 2km in 7mins, which is atrocious. If I were North I’d be taking a few others ahead of him, Watson included.

Cripps, Mitchell, Boak, Steele, Oliver, Dunkley, Green, Libretore, Neale, Viney and Wines.

There’s a group of players who either still are or have been a grade players who don’t seem to have an issue with not being overly quick.

Chuck in M and B Crouch aswell as Taylor Adam’s as very good B graders Atleast.

It’s not the be all and end all
Spot on Calder.... Give me a guy with a Footy Brain any day over a player with speed

I watched Cadman ina VFL game kick a bundle. That was more than enough for me to be very happy if we chased him..or if he siad he like to come to Geelong. Thats a conundrum for Oct24. I think we will struggle to get Smith and Cadman.

I reckon that’s about right.

Reid, Walter, Duursma, McKercher, Sanders, Watson, Read, Curtin, Caddy, O’Sullivan, Leake, Wilson.

Reckon it drops a bit after that to the next group that starts with Windsor.

He actually said...the 12 were tha available players ..excluding the bid players

Bringing in Stevens seems zero risk to me, assuming we don't get Sanders. Fills a need and will only get quicker after an afl pre season.
If we get a Caddy or whichever key position player with our 1st pick. I would be more than happy to take Stevens with our 2nd pick..

It’s not the be all and end all

Having a player play twice for our VFL side...would have given the club a firm opinion on his assets. If they pick George at 25 then tehy must think he is quick enough... if they don't then good chance they think he may struggle against quicker opponents. If the club use 25/30ish.. on him...its hardly be all and end all pick. Im trusting the club this year and not getting to focused on anyone player.

The chance to add an early pick forward like Caddy has been so rare for us ... but OSully would be tempting. Probably Caddy and try to pick up KPD late

Can imagine a few different scenarios. But I think that unless Curtin is somehow also available then if Caddy is there we’ll just call his name. As you say, we rarely have had an opportunity to take a tall forward early in the draft. I’m almost taking him now in front of Sanders. Almost…

We may well go tall again with 25.
